  1. Great minds think a like. I had considered that as well, I wonder if it would fly?
  2. exposure for FCS playoff games has gone up exponentially thanks to ESPN3. In the end the Big Sky cares more about exposure for their teams and conference than they do about where the game is being broadcasted from. I'm sure they're not thrilled about our delima but they knew what they were possibly getting into when they offered us an invite.
  3. It's not that I don't respect the other UND teams, I have season football tickets and go to as many basketball and women's hockey games as my schedule will allow. The point is that we would be caving in to the threats of the NCAA as they force a liberal agenda down our throats. I would love nothing more than to see UND join a big conference that plays FBS football on ESPN, but I don't believe we have to sacrifice our identity to achieve that goal. We will be in the Big Sky after next year and scheduling will no longer be a big issue for us. We are talking about a couple of home games, that's all.
  4. So we should abandon 80 years of tradition so that our FCS football team can MAYBE play 1 or 2 playoff games at home? I'm sorry, but the price is to high.
  5. Sorry, didn't mean to hit the "negative button", was aiming at the MultiQuote button and don't know how to retract it.
  6. Do football recruits who play at the FCS level honestly care about playing one or two playoff games at their home institution? Is it really a deal breaker? I'm sorry, but most recruits at the FCS level are just happy to have a scholarship and a place to play at. I would think that facilities and fan support would be a much bigger recruiting tool.
  7. I would rather see the UND flame logo on the post season jerseys, I think they would look sick!
  8. Are the WCHA playoffs considered post season play? I thought post season play would be for the National tournament not conference playoffs.
  9. Hockey is the only visible sport that incorporates the Sioux name and indian head logo on the jersey.
  10. If the worst that's going to happen is not being able to host post season play (which we don't anyways) and having to wear alternative jerseys during post season (hockey is the only sport affected), then it's really not the end of the world. Plus, it gives us time to either get Standing Rocks blessing or find another compromise with the NCAA. Either way we get to keep our traditions. This is far from over and the NCAA's response is not exactly a bombshell, we will work this out. I'm looking forward to buying a UND post season jersey to hang in my closet along with all my other Sioux jerseys!
  11. Speaking about getting back to where you belong, if UND is just a glorified community college why are you on our message board telling everybody how great the Big Ten will be.
  12. Actually, I could see them canceling over our open meeting policy. Although, I have not heard anything about it.
  13. We should be fine as long as we add big name brand, powerhouse schools like Minnesota State Moorehead. What top recruit would want to play for Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, or MSU when they could be a Dragon! Seriously, UND needs to consider it's options and do what's right for UND and not the WCHA. I like the idea of a conference with UND, Denver, CC, UNO, Air Force, Miami, Notre Dame, and UBC with room left over to expand out west. A conference with a media market like that would trump anything the Big Ten threw at it.
  14. I agree with you, but to a degree that's our fault as well as theirs. We as students, alumni, fans of UND need to do a better job of visibly and financially supporting football and basketball. These to sports will put UND on everybody's front page. It also doesn't help that year after year we get stuck playing the dregs of Div 1 and 2. I do agree that SiouxSports.com has breaking news days before everyone else.
  15. As much as I love the WCHA, I can't help but wonder if starting a new exclusive conference might not be just in our best interest but the best interest of college hockey in general. If UND, Denver, CC, Air Force, Miami, Notre Dame, UNO, and UBC started a league we could not only increase the exposure of the sport (by securing a Denver and Canadian media market) but open up a spots for teams like Moorhead. Plus we could leave spots open for large West Coast teams as well as a possible Montana team. I don't feel like the leadership and lack of vision in the WCHA is going to be healthy for the bigger schools like North Dakota and Denver who will soon have the responsibility of selling tickets for the rest of the WCHA.
  16. I would love to see a Passage to India restaurant open in Grand Forks!
  17. Very sad. My thoughts and prayers are with the Schwartz family.
  18. I have to agree with you about the UMD fans being the worst. I had several of them say some of the meanest most offensive things to me for no reason. I really hope UMD gets put out by Notre Dame in the first round, it would be nice to see their fans go home early!
  19. So some Big Ten officials told Shaft that if North Dakota dropped the Sioux logo that they would get a Big Ten invite? Either Shaft or his son (or both) are lying or they messed up royally by not disclosing that to the public. I love UND, but we're no where near ready to compete against Big Ten schools in football and basketball. I seriously doubt a UND invite was entertained at a Big Ten conference meeting. Has anyone heard different?
  20. The Big Ten offering UND an invite is the worst April Fools joke thus far. I wish there was some truth to that! I'm not hating on UND, I go to school here. I'm just sayin.
  21. It's a good thing you're happy with where you're at, because you're going to be stuck there for quite a while.
  22. I believe that they are trying to move the meeting to Bismarck so the legislators can be involved. Hopefully the meeting will be moved so that the legislators can be involved.
  23. I actually feel sorry for NDSU, they are the Jan Brady of North Dakota. UND is on the right track, not only are we joining a superior conference but we are associating ourselves with institutions of a higher caliber than that of the Summit League. Our footprint will be huge and the exposure will attract better recruits and better students. If we could build a new stadium on campus as well as better training facilities I believe we will be invited to a FBS conference along with Montana. We already have made a very popular name for ourselves and have millions of fans (in hockey) all over the US and Canada, if we build up football and basketball bigger conferences will jump at the opportunity to align themselves with us.
  24. I can't recall the last time I've ever seen a more focused and determined Sioux hockey team. Duluth assuming that they get through Notre Dame are going to have to dig deep if they have any hope of skating with a Sioux team with this much depth, speed, and size.
  25. Thank you! How sweet would it be to watch Sioux football in that facility!?! I wonder how much something like the horse shoe bowl would cost?
