  2. But remember, it's "a small price to pay".
  3. This is obviously part of the constitution that "Clueless Al" Carlson either has not read or is pretending doesn't exist. Al Carlson fancies himself as the "Prime Minister" of North Dakota and firmly believes he has control over everything. The Legislature has budgetary authority over the Higher Ed system (and the rest of State Government), but the administrative authority has been put in the hands of the SBHE. This was done to stop the political micromanaging that took place in the system during the early part of statehood. And it is becoming very clear that this provision is more needed than ever.
  4. I got news for you: "Clueless Al" Carlson is going to LOSE in his fight with the ND Supreme Court and this asinine nickname law will be tossed into the dustbin of history where it belongs. Then the UND Alumni Association is going to campaign against this even more asinine constitutional amendment that is being pushed and get that defeated (assuming it gets on the November ballot). Then you can fade quietly into the night since you care more about the name and logo than the institution itself. And we won't have to read your delusional drivel any longer.
  5. Hockey has some big start-up costs, but tremendous long-term revenue potential. This revenue can be critical in paying for things like Title 9 Compliance and travel, which keeps getting more expensive. They could join us in the NCHC, which would help us maintain a solid membership base. It would also help us trump the Big Ten Conference (9 teams are better than 6!).
  6. We get it, anything and everything that happens as a result of keeping the name and logo is "a small price to pay". Maybe in your delusional world, but not in mine. The sanctions will destroy UND athletics. Living under the sanctions is...not...an...option.
  7. And this is the school that the nickname-at-all-costs crowd wants us to use as an example of how to proceed into the world of Division I athletics?!?! Uff Da!!!
  8. I wonder if the nickname-at-all-costs crowd will start calling for Hakstol's head now?
  9. Good comment! Fargo is the Minneapolis wanna-be of North Dakota. I believe they are about the same size as Bloomington, MN (a Minneapolis suburb). Looks like they are about 1.5 million people short.
  10. What are the recall provisions for elected officials in North Dakota? Because I think a recall campaign against "Clueless Al" is just what the doctor ordered. End his political career before he can screw anything else up.
  11. I took care of it for you!
  12. I was in the 6th grade that season and that team was always the talk of our class. I went to a fair number of games with my dad. I was at the Saturday game vs. Michigan Tech where Bob Joyce scored six goals. Great memories.
  13. I am so sick and tired of this Alcorn State garbage being brought up. Alcorn State is NOT a peer institution of UND. Not. Even. Close. They are also so small and insignificant in athletics and have not accomplished much of anything (and probably never will) that sanctions won't have much of an impact one way or the other. This is a pure apples and oranges red herring argument.
  14. Different lawsuits, different jurisdictions. The Spirit Lake lawsuit is in Federal court, the ND Supreme Court will be making a decision on a ND State law.
  15. I don't think so. The ND Supreme Court would have the final say in what is constitutional in North Dakota, just like the U.S. Supreme Court has the final say in what is constitutional for the U.S. as a whole.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63h_v6uf0Ao Please vote NO on the Fighting Sioux nickname referendum on June 12th. The stakes are too high for you to stay home.
  17. And anyone that will blindly follow you and your ilk on this issue (shaking MY head) have never been a real fan of UND as an institution.
  18. Big talk from somebody who gets his "news" from http://www.sayanythingblog.com. Your cute little one sentence answers to everything are very tiresome. You (and every single person who signed those petitions) are putting this entire institution and everything it stands for in grave danger. I am all in favor of the Spirit Lake lawsuit, but these petitions are not going to fix anything.
  19. No, I don't feel comfortable about leaving it in the Legislature's hands. But it is something to think about and prepare for. This could end up being the biggest issue of the 2013 Legislative Session. We'll have to put major pressure on our representatives in Bismarck to save UND athletics. Hopefully, it doesn't come down to that.
  20. You forgot one, http://www.sayanythingblog.com is their "Bible". The eternal words of Rob Port just CANNOT be questioned.
  21. Well, they canned the President who was in charge of all this, so that's a good start. But they obviously need a thorough audit of everything to get to the bottom of it.
  22. Please, let's keep politics out of this discussion. But I understand the point you are trying to make. The nickname-at-all-costs crowd thinks any and all consequences for keeping the name and logo are "a small price to pay". And anyone who doesn't agree with it is not a real fan and shouldn't call themselves a fan. The destruction of UND athletics IS NOT AN OPTION!!! The State Board had better do their jobs on Monday or else all will be lost.
  23. And for all the rest of the news that matters: http://www.nationalenquirer.com/ Both of those links belong in the same catagory.
