  1. I am with you on everything you said.
  2. Use this next time and no one will be confused.
  3. I think there are rumors that the NFL would like to move the Buffalo Bills to Toronto; they already have some regular season games there. In any event, I want any and all Legislators who vote against the Viking stadium to run for re-election this fall as the "Let 'em Leave" candidates. Otherwise, they are being two-faced hypocrites.
  4. No, but UND gets a big check from REA from the revenues that the arena generates.
  5. Maybe there are budget issues and that is all they can afford? With a cash machine like REA, there shouldn't be, but it's possible.
  6. Whatever happens next year, the twins have transformed this program from a glorified club team to a legitimate D-I women's team. Future recruits will continue to have UND on their list of schools they are interested in attending. If not for them transferring from Minnesota, this team would still be a .500 team at best.
  7. Everything revolves around that for you, doesn't it? Didn't it occur to you that this could be related to the program? Naw, didn't think so.
  8. That is just crazy.
  9. Fair enough, but I think everyone in our fan base respects Eades. We are just concerned about who will take his place. And that is a very legitimate concern.
  10. Speculation!!! On a discussion forum!!! How could we?!?! The idea that this situation is "none of our business" is absurd. An assistant coach for a major Division I hockey program is being let go. Like it or not, it's big news. Especially since nobody saw it coming. And that is what discussion forums are for. I for one will not apologize for speculating on what happens next. And no one else has to, either.
  11. Dean Blais left the NHL for the USHL and then the NCAA. Not everyone loves the NHL lifestyle.
  12. If it isn't men's hockey, he doesn't care. And if the name and logo are dropped, he won't care about that, either.
  13. I just don't think "the folks" in North Dakota want to destroy UND athletics (well, except for the stream yellow crowd in Fargo). It might take more time than we like, but it will be resolved.
  14. Once the name issue is resolved (and it will be, despite what some people on here think), I think this is something that should be pursued.
  15. I half-expected to get smart remarks from Major Junior hockey fans when I drove to Winnipeg for the U.S. College Hockey Classic, but the Winnipegers I talked to were awesome. I think having WDAZ on their cable system and thus having access to our games all these years has something to do with it. I think Brandon and areas further west are more WHL territory than Winnipeg is. I think we should have a U.S. College Hockey Classic game every year and I would love it if UND was able to play Minnesota or Denver in this game. That would give Winnipegers a really up close and personal look at what a College Hockey rivalry is supposed to look like!
  16. I half expect Al Carlson to demand that the Alumni Association get permission from the Legislature to spend money on this. It would be a logical outcome; he thinks the whole state should just bow down to him on everything.
  17. ''The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" - Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (1982).
  18. Only the Sith deal in absolutes.
  19. I suppose Al Carlson will come out tomorrow and say that the UND Alumni Association should be subject to the whims of the Legislature. Never mind that the Alumni Association is a private, non-profit and does NOT answer to Carlson or anyone else in Bismarck.
  20. I guess we could form a scheduling alliance with what is left of the DAC.
  21. My target is not the host, it's his smart-mouthed producer Dan Gunderson.
  22. McFeeley is now on the air. You all know what to do.
  23. So all of this is Roger Thomas's fault? That is really rich, son. President Kupchella was against moving up and Thomas followed suit. Looking back, it probably was a mistake, but it didn't hurt NDSU at all and you know that. NDSU was able to make it's own choice to move up and UND made the choice not to. If anyone was being pushy, it was NDSU. It was NDSU that mocked and ridiculed all the other NCC schools for not moving up when Chapman and Taylor said they should. Anyway, none of this has anything to do with the nickname mess and you know that. At least you should know that.
  24. McFeeley had a nickname-at-all-coster on his show yesterday and he didn't cut him off. McFeeley has stated over and over that keeping the name and logo would hurt UND at this point; it's Gunderson that wants it to stay to screw over UND. Besides, as Tim O'Keefe has stated, it is way past the point of whether you like the name or whether it's "hostile and abusive" or not. The real issue now is, are you willing to handcuff the UND athletic department to keep the name and logo? It is time that the rational pragmatists like myself make our feelings known before it is too late. I think e-mail is the best way to go; you can't get cut off and if there are enough e-mails, it will make our point very loudly and very clear. It's also easier to e-mail than to sit on hold and wait to get on.
