  1. Awesome!
  2. I am holding out on getting a "North Dakota" jersey until they have the authentic versions available. I was told that they aren't ordering those yet because "they aren't that popular". I have a personal rule that I won't spend $95 for one of those cheap replica jerseys. I will only purchase the authentic $250 versions. Those will last forever if you take care of them (which I do). Anyone else have an opinion on replicas vs. authentics?
  3. But didn't you hear? It's all about being able to keep more of the gate!
  4. Yeah, but that won't lift any program to the level of Gonzaga. Gonzaga became the mid-major no one wanted to play and that takes more than being in a weaker auto-bid conference and getting in more often.
  5. Yeah, except our fans don't preach the delusion that we are on pace to be "the next Gonzaga" of Division I Men's Basketball.
  6. If you want to get mad at somebody for this, get mad at Barry Alverez. He was a big proponent of the BTHC and is gleeful about it.
  7. I have been sitting in the lower bowl for years. Section 125, near the top in the corner. Great seats, great view of everything. Mostly good fans in my section; a few morons, but they are outnumbered. I am really going to miss the Final Five next year; I don't know how the NCHC tournament will stack up.
  8. Overall, it's a pretty good budget. Too bad Carlson and Company will slice and dice it.
  9. I was talking about the Legislature as an institution, not about any one political party or politician. The ND Legislature has a lot of built-in, institutional, cultural biases against funding even the most common-sense stuff.
  10. Then why do the NDSU boosters like to rip hockey and claim it isn't a "real" sport? That is something you need to "learn to deal with", not us.
  11. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. But you are opening the door to the wonderful world of politics. And that topic is not allowed on this forum. And I for one am supportive of that policy.
  12. You might have more luck if some of your fellow Bison followers would acknowledge that UND hockey is a big deal......and not just within the Grand Forks city limits. The "butt football" crowd needs to learn that respect is a two-way street.
  13. And here we go.............
  14. The officials in this league are so bad I don't think it matters who the games.
  15. Okay, I'll take one more shot at this. Getting swept on the road would have been a big morale killer, and with a much better team coming to Grand Forks the following weekend, it was totally conceivable that we might get swept at home. This team has been up and down all season and you need consistency to sweep teams (even at home). The OT win on Saturday changes the whole dynamic. Now we have some confidence as we face Denver at home, in front of all our fans (including the students, who will want to blow off some steam before finals next week). Every season, you can point to one or more crucial turning points (good and bad) that affected a team's season. Last Saturday's OT win might end up being one of those for this team. Having said that, it's going to be a tough weekend to watch if we come out and give up 35-40 shots per game like we had been doing before last weekend. Denver will make us pay for it, unlike some of the teams we have been playing. Saunders can't do everything himself. I think this weekend will determine what kind of team we have.
  16. Probably in the toilet of the WCHA.
  17. I believe you; I was taking a shot at some of the bandwagon-jumpers in our society today.
  18. Real fans stick with their teams.......win or lose. And Vikings fans have definitely learned how to stick to the program during bad times.
  19. Ponder is struggling and probably needs to sit down, watch and learn. But it doesn't help that their only legitimate receiver (Percy Harvin) was out again yesterday. This team had an awesome draft in April and they need another awesome draft next April. They need some legit receivers, more depth on defense and probably another QB prospect in case Ponder doesn't work out in the long run. The team is much better than last year, but is still a couple of drafts away from being championship contenders. I honestly don't want them to sneak in the playoffs and lose the first game. It's better if they finish 7-9 and get better draft position for next year.
  20. The bottom line is the win-loss column. When the WCHA playoff pairings are announced, it won't matter if your team was "competitive in losses". When they hand out NCAA bids in March, they don't give a rip about "how the teams were playing during their losses". The more this team wins before Christmas, the better. These second-half runs are exciting, but they don't leave enough gas in the tank come tournament time.
  21. No, I hope we can sweep Denver because I can't stand the Pios, especially their dasher-dancing troll of a head coach. I hope the team gets a bounce from winning in dramatic fashion on the road in a place they have historically struggled. Whether it happens or not is anyone's guess. This team has tons of upside; what they need now is consistency.
  22. It didn't look good with two minutes left in the game on Saturday, did it? I was calling it as I saw it at the time and I will not ever apologize for doing that. Game tying goals with seconds left in the game are not exactly common. And while we did win the game on Saturday, we still have a lot of things to work on this weekend vs. Denver if the stick salute (let alone a split) is going to happen. The following weekend at Michigan Tech (no longer a push-over) is just as important. I simply am not a pollyan-ish, cheerleading type of fan.
  23. So I've noticed.
  24. A gross exaggeration. I usually talk about it when others bring it up, which people did after Friday's game. And no, most people on here don't get it, hence my signature being what it is. Anyway......... Big 2 points on the road. Time for a big home weekend vs. Denver. Time for a stick salute!!!!
  25. Says the poster with a depressing user name.
