If they want people to purchase the webcast, they better sink some serious coin into it to make it better. All I read on here is how bad it is most of the time. If the webcast is state-of-the-art and reliable, people won't care about Fox College Sports anymore.

Two words: Who cares. Nobody cares if you have a personal problem with the owner. This is about where the food and/or service is good or not.

Wilbur's dad is a riot! He just HAS to come back next year!
-
That is what I have been thinking for several years.

And what makes you think UND wouldn't sell all the rights to the turf signage even if they did own the stadium? I don't really care one way or the other about the logos on the turf, but it wouldn't matter who owns the stadium, everything would be auctioned off to the highest bidder regardless.
-
I guess I care way more about the team that plays on the turf than what logos are on the turf. This is a very important season for Mussman and his staff and the program in general. If the team goes 3-8 again, we'll have bigger problems than how big the Alerus Center logos are.

The only way that the Washington Redskins will change their name is if the NFL forces them to, presumably by threatening to revoke the franchise from the owner if he doesn't change it. I am pretty certain that would take a vote of the other owners and I don't think that the votes are there right now. But if this becomes a PR problem for the league (and the NFL is very image conscious), it might persuade the other owners that don't have Indian-based nicknames (Redskins, Chiefs) to consider implementing a policy like the NCAA has done. That is why small protest movements like the one talked about here have to be taken seriously and not laughed off. I think it will take another 10 years, but it could become plausible by that point. I hope it doesn't happen, but don't assume it won't.

I generally don't bother reading this guy's drivel, but when I saw it was about North Dakota, I caved. Sure enough, more drivel. His column is an absolute waste of space; all he does is complain about how this sucks and that sucks. He should become a movie critic.

Really? You didn't hear this message when reading between the lines of the arguments of the anti-nickname cabal? The idea was that the nickname caused negative self-image among Native Americans and thus contributed to the social and economic problems on the reservations. And, sorry, but I am not apologizing for the comment. I had to listen to nickname oppponents throw around words like "racist" in describing the name, logo and (yes) even those of us that supported keeping the name. Now when their stupid, illogical theories are proven wrong over and over again, I have no problem calling them out on it. You reap what you sow. Unfortunately, the little girl that died was forced to reap what irresponsible adults sowed.

I am a Central Alum (Class of 1993) and I do not do crap like this.

Wow, that really was a long time ago! I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

College Hockey 2012/13 (non UND Hockey)
fightingsioux4life replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
The shootout is an abomination to the sport. Period. It has no business in any level of hockey. And I do not care how exciting they are. Settling ties in basketball with slam-dunks contests would be exciting, but it would also be a colossal joke. Or using field goal kicking contests in football to break ties. I do not care if fans in Montreal, Quebec like shootouts (this is Hakstol's excuse for adopting them), I do not want them anyplace in college hockey. -
So "countless Red River alumni" that went to UND and supported our teams will suddenly stop supporting them over this? Ties to your college alma mater are much more important to people than their high school alma mater. And if I am wrong, so what? We don't need "supporters" like that. When Grand Forks Central first considered Knights as a possible nickname, people whined and complained that it just could not be used because Climax-Fisher used it and didn't want us to use it. Well, it was adopted a couple of years later, Climax-Fisher got over it and life went on. That is what would happen here as well. And this is all pure speculation anyway; we'll probably get Rainbows or Unicorns shoved down our throats if some people around here get their way. PS: What's up with all the child welfare problems at Spirit Lake? I thought getting rid of the Sioux nickname and logo was supposed to solve all the problems on the reservations?
-
And the only real-life example that was brought up was pulled out of a direct quote from then-UND coach Dean Blais after a game. That doesn't really count for what we are discussing here. If we get stuck with "Green and White", it will be Wayne Nelson's fault because he started the practice and then everyone else just followed his lead.
-
Well, I brought this up last year and was told not to worry about it. Thankfully, Ryan Bakken (former sports guy) wrote a column telling Wayne Nelson and company to knock it off and (for the most part) they have.
-
As I have said before, if we use this standard for picking a new name, we will have absolutely nothing to choose from because almost every possible name is in use by somebody (high school, college, pros).
-
Good point, but there probably is some truth to it.

According to some people on here, this is where all the good players are and will be until Jerry York retires.

Summit League could take over NCHC to survive?
fightingsioux4life replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
This is why we shouldn't lose sleep over this. Douple is too busy trying to save his own pathetic hide to even have time to think about something like this, let alone do it. -
Given the track record around here for dealing with vacant buildings, they probably have already decided to tear it down.

Shirvani has shown just what a low-class piece of work he is. Those "evaluations" were an attempt to take down as many people with him that he could. Did anyone else notice that his harshest criticisms were reserved for those Presidents that dared criticize him about anything? He was a wanna-be dictator and despot and I hope he doesn't let the door hit his fat butt on the way out.
-
I have been a very harsh critic of the scheduling for football, so I guess I have to give kudos to Faison and company for getting it done! Keep up the good work!

This series is going 7 games. Who will win? Flip a coin and you have just as good a chance of predicting that as all the "experts" on television.

I give up. You are responding to stuff I didn't even type. Let's just agree to disagree on this.

I never said he tried to walk away. I said if he had tried to walk away, there is a good chance these punks would have followed him and started something outside because they were determined to pick a fight with him. My guess is that Beck figured if he has to fight, he would rather do it face to face outside and not get jumped from behind. Perhaps they wanted to make a name for themselves by beating up an NDSU football player. And with all the previous incidences involving NDSU football players, they figured they could pick a fight and then blame everything on him. And people are falling for it. Like I said before, if anyone tried to pick a fight with me or got physical in order to start something, I would not hesitate to respond in kind. And if that means I would get a disorderly conduct on my record, then so be it. I would wear it with a badge of honor.
