  1. Fire Brewster? No way; he is one of our top performing coaches right now. The women's team helps take my mind off of the woefully underachieving men's team.
  2. If pointing out obvious problems counts as a "negative rant", then so be it. Ignoring it won't make it go away. And Starman is the poster child of ducky and bunny logic. I honestly don't pay much attention to what he thinks. We have ZERO margin for error from this point forward and will probably have to win the NCHC tournament, unless we get help from other teams.
  3. Actually, it's the eternal optimists that rake the pragmatic realists over the hot coals for daring to question the coaching staff and how they do things.
  4. I think he started to realize that a coaching career involves a lot of travel and long hours at the office. I am thinking he wants to spend more time with his wife and kids. Good move Brooks.
  5. Come on ladies, don't blow it down the stretch! We could use some playoff excitement in Grand Forks in March!
  6. I guess I am willing to give Jones one more year based on the fact that his first Division I recruits are seniors now and will be gone next year. I want to see if the next batch of kids work out better for him. But if it's the same old crap next season, then it's time to move on.
  7. Jones has definitely been here long enough to be held responsible for the current state of the program. As was Mussman. When Brewster can have the women's team contending for a Big Sky regular season title (and with it, home court for the Big Sky postseason tournament) in his second year, that makes the struggles of the men's team look even worse by comparison. I give him one more year. If it's more of the same tired old crap next season, time for a buyout.
  8. And in your world, those two things are mutually exclusive.
  9. I remember hearing radio highlights of the 1999 regional final at Hyslop; it sounded like the Old REA during a Gopher series! That is what we need at The Betty for the Big Sky tournament; the BESC is our secret weapon.
  10. I hope that Faison will have the good sense to have it in The Betty. It would be like those North Central Regionals we used to host at Hyslop; loud, energetic and fun.
  11. I was referring to Blais being an easy guy to ask questions of and get along with. As for Blais being on the hot seat in Omaha, I believe he will retire from coaching after his current contract is up, so I think that question is moot.
  12. Well, we had one of those guys for 10 years, but we aren't allowed to mention his name anymore (*cough, cough* Dean Blais *cough, cough*) least we get accused of living in the past.
  13. I honestly don't think Gwoz was fired for lack of success on the ice; I think it was some political crap off the ice involving the administration. And I think they will live to regret it.
  14. The last year of the Old REA, we were WCHA Regular Season champs and runners-up both in the WCHA Final Five and the NCAA Frozen Four. I was at practically every home game that season and I can tell you the 3,291 figure is pure crap. USCHO needs to double-check that one.
  15. I hope you are right. We have heard that before and it hasn't come to fruition. Minot (1992) remains the only West Region team to win a state title.
  16. No, you aren't a Kool-Aid drinker. I was simply explaining the rationale for my rants, which are usually a response to an attack from someone else. I am a hopeless alternate history buff; I love asking "what if" when studying historical events.
  17. What makes me "fly off the handle" are B.S. excuses for things and the tendency for some on this forum to defend the establishment and the decision-makers no matter what the facts are. I guess I get sick and tired of some of the Kool-Aid drinkers on this forum and simply want to offer a different perspective. I do not have anything personal against anyone on this forum; life is much too short for that crap. As for the topic at hand, there is a difference between being four years removed from back to back NCAA titles and being nine years removed from one NCAA title. I also think it is possible that if we had won the 2005 title, more would have followed. Kind of like "what if" Scott Norwood had made the last-second field goal against the Giants in the Super Bowl in 1991. Would that have changed the course of history for the Bills? We'll never know, unless we figure out how to travel to parallel universes "Sliders" style.
  18. Okay Captain Thin Skin, I'll bite. With 2002 and 2003 NCAA titles in the trophy case, I would not have pulled the plug on Lucia after that four year stretch. However, if Lucia hadn't made the changes he made to turn it around and was content with staying the course, I probably would have started making my list of potential replacements. Not making any changes would have told me that Lucia had lost perspective and that a change was needed for the good of the program.
  19. Anything is better than the poor customer service and poorly-maintained inventory of the Wal-Mart Super Center. I used to go there for some groceries, but I got tired of product running out and not being replaced and putting up with all the prissy missy checkout personnel. And some of the blame for that is on the management for not training them properly.
  20. The 2008 debacle is what helped make my avatar possible. I knew I was going to be on the front page of the Heraldo when I saw the camera flash out of the corner of my eye!
