Going FBS in FB would be a huge mistake, as some other schools have found out. If we just stick with what we have, we'll be fine in the long run.
-
FU is in the same boat and I think they are more than happy with what the MBB team has done this year. We'll have to focus on FB, MH and WH for our national championships. Of these, FU has only FB, so we have that going for us...which is nice!!!

Final Score Texas A&M: 70 North Dakota: 55 A very good first showing at the Division I level. I have a feeling we are going to be doing this again soon.
-
65-53 1:40 left in 2nd half. All I can think about now is all those missed lay-ups earlier in the game. Argh!
-
It's a definite trade-off. But how many people would still care about our teams if we had stayed in Division 2 and joined the NSIC? If you think we are invisible compared to FU now, that would have been 10 times worse. And SDSU has proved over the years that mid-major schools like us can win games in the D-I Women's Tournament, not just keep it close for one half. Remember, we will get better players and better athletes from here on out as a full-fledged Division I program in the Big Sky Conference. The best is yet to come.
-
Oh, for crying out loud! How many lay-ups are we going to miss? If we would have hit even half of our missed lay-ups, we'd be down 10 instead of 20 points.
-
Well, it was fun while it lasted. We hung around in the first half with some players left over from the transition period, which isn't too bad. If we can have more success in the Big Sky, we'll get better players and the next time we get into this tournament, we might hang around for the whole game (and maybe even pull off a first-round upset). The future looks bright for the WBB team.

It's on now.

I am getting really tired of the disrespect from the NCAA to ESPN. First we get introduced as the "Lady Griz", now this?!?! I couldn't care less about freaking Iowa and Marist.
-
I bought a game-worn, Mitch Vig #7 road jersey at the old bookstore in the Union. I still have it.

I do not care what they think, I just think it's hilarious that they pull that double-standard crap all the time.

So you are only interested in a discussion forum if it is devoted exclusively to Ducky and Bunny content about how everything is fine the way it is and you are a "bad fan" if you criticize anyone or anything? To each their own, but I am not interested in that nonsense. When our transition sucked the way it did, when the FB program hits rock bottom and needs rebuilding, when the MH team struggles for the second straight year, when the Ag School takes advantage of all this and steals the media spotlight in North Dakota (and the nation, for that matter), you will have frustrated people on here venting their displeasure. I would rather have that than people becoming apathetic and complacent. A passionate fan base is much better.

Those hypocrites! If the NDSU WBB program ever gets their house in order and wins the Slummit League tournament, they would be going ape-crap over there about it! "How far will we go; I think we can win the whole thing!", "How does this team stack up to the Kasey Morlock-led teams of the 1990's?" and blah, blah, blah. Just wait, they'll change their tune once the shoe is on the other foot.

What I will not put up with anymore is this asinine notion that nothing is ever Hak's fault. Recruiting.....not his fault, it's the big, bad CHL. Strategy.....again, not his fault, it's all about the players (Copyright Sid Hartman). Motivation.....again, not part of his job, the players should do it all themselves all the time (Copyright Sid Hartman). Bottom line: Hakstol is at the top of the food chain and is the commander of the army. The buck stops with him. He is the one variable that has been present for the last 10 years. Players come and go. Even some assistant coaches come and go. But this program has Hakstol's fingerprints all over it; he has built it the way he wants to build it. And that is how it should be. But the results haven't been there when the NCAA tournament rolls around. Back when we had a roster filled with 1st Round picks, we couldn't help but score goals (even Hakstol's precious "baseline defensive system" can't neuter those guys). Now that we don't have that much world-class talent, we struggle to beat even the most mediocre of teams. That's when you need to make adjustments to your in-game strategy to get better results. Hakstol simply will not do that and that is more than fair to criticize. If Hakstol's role is just not all that important, then why are we paying him six figures a year to run this program? I think that question answers itself.
-
Nobody has said it in those exact words, but read between the lines and that is the sentiment some people have adopted around here. And it is totally unbefitting a program such as ours.

I gave you an answer http://forum.siouxsports.com/topic/19368-sioux-vs-miami-oh-friday-gameday/page__st__320#entry696542 and you chose not to acknowledge it. At some point, championships need to matter around here again. Some people think they are "nice to have, but not all that important in the big picture". I do not agree with that. To each their own.

Do I have a list of possible names to replace Hakstol? No, but again, it's not my job to hire coaches at UND. That is Brian Faison's job and he's done a good job of it in several sports (WBB, FB, VB). I imagine there are a good number of young, talented, ambitious coaches serving as college assistants or head coaches in the USHL or even at the high school level (Blais coached in HS to get head coaching experience). That is what is needed here, a young coach on the rise looking for his first big break in the business. And I imagine Faison and his staff could assemble a pretty solid list of prospects. Of course, I would rather have Hakstol lead us to an NCAA title and put an end to all this garbage, because I honestly am sick and tired of talking about it. But with each passing choke job, I lose more faith in the idea that it will happen. And if this broken record continues, you'll see more empty seats in The Ralph like you did this year.
-
Sorry, but those are all excuses and ring more hollow with each year that goes by.
-
This has been pointed out by many posters (including myself), but all we get from people is static about how Hakstol is the greatest coach since sliced bread and how nothing's his fault because he hasn't suited up for UND since 1992 and blah, blah, blah. Someone please tell me how many "blips on the radar" we need to have before people stop making excuses for everything. If the commander of the Army doesn't do his job, he is replaced. At UND, everyone just makes excuses and acts like nothing is wrong. Very sad my friends, very sad.

Are you still here? Beat it, troll.
-
-
But remember, nothing is ever their fault, because you win with players (said in my best Sid Hartman voice).
-
But we had 20+ wins again, so life is good, right?
-
It's good anytime that team loses.
