  1. The problem is that whenever someone wants to change the boundary lines, Red River hockey parents start complaining loudly and the issue is tabled for a few years. Then we rinse and repeat. If we don't change the lines soon, we will have overcrowding at Red River and lots of unused space at Central. Time for the Board to suck it up and change the boundaries and let the detractors complain all they want.
  2. If Fargo gets to have the Dakota Bowl every year from now on, then Grand Forks should have the hockey tournament every year from now on. Let Minot and Bismarck rotate the Class B Boys and Girls Basketball Tournaments and let Fargo and Grand Forks rotate the Class A Boys and Girls Tournaments. And I am sick of hearing that REA is just too busy to have the state tournament there anymore. That is like the Fargodome saying they are too busy to host the Dakota Bowl anymore. Schedules are made years in advance; figure it out.
  3. This is a troll post. Please ignore and it will die like it should.
  4. If UND didn't have hockey (like NDSU), men's and women's basketball would be big-time winter attractions at UND and I probably would have season tickets. But they aren't, so your question is not really relevant to the topic at hand. And please don't try to talk about how expensive it is for people to go to basketball games. Basketball is dirt cheap compared to hockey. Bottom Line: More Winning = More Buzz = More Fans.
  5. .....and don't forget, these are 18-23 year old student-athletes who are here to graduate and have fun playing a kid's game in the process, so it doesn't really matter how many games we win or don't win. It is amazing what our fan base will tolerate and consider acceptable compared to 15 years ago.
  6. Also, when something happens (a firing for example), he is out of town someplace. Then he comes back to Grand Forks and says "Yep, the buck stops here, it's on me, blah, blah, blah!" He spends half of his time keeping his fingernails clean and his hands off of important decisions and the other half telling the media "No comment" or hiding behind Peter Johnson in Media Relations. He can't leave soon enough.
  7. No, just someone that agrees with Darell most of the time. Simple answer.
  8. Okay, but it just sounded like it. And I don't think Phil Jackson and darrell1976 are comparable individuals (heck, Phil Jackson and anyone else on this forum aren't comparable). Darrell1976 is just venting his frustration at the state of our MBB team, like a lot of people on here have been.
  9. I hope she isn't robbed like Panzer was in 2001.
  10. So now regular attendance at MBB games is a prerequisite for being critical of the program? Sorry, but that is pure Horse Hockey. I am sure darell1976 watches games on television even if he can't make it up to Grand Forks to watch in-person. I go to a couple of games each season (men's and women's), but having season hockey and football tickets eats up a lot of my weekends during the fall and winter months, so I think season basketball tickets are out of the question for me. Bottom line: More winning = more buzz = better attendance.
  11. I believe hiring Jones was a Tom Buning move. No wonder he's not here anymore.
  12. Hey, come on now, these are 18-23 year old student-athletes getting an education and having fun out there! That's all that really matters anyway. Right?
  13. No, that isn't BS at all, you summed it up very nicely. Hakstol's teams play too tight sometimes; that is one thing I would like to see change.
  14. I'll be there this year. Last year sucked with the head cold.
  15. I know what disorganized, crap-made-up-as-we-go basketball looks like.
  16. Couldn't tell you the answer to that. But winning will cover a multitude of sins.
  17. Their free-lancing style of play; throwing the ball around recklessly, getting cute around the basket...things you would see on the blacktop in a school yard. Things that generally don't work well in organized basketball.
  18. Jones. At least Idalski puts a winning product on the ice.
  19. And that system will lead to more fender-benders because people will rely on the technology too much.
  20. I just don't believe that you can replace human eyes with electronic eyes and get the same results. Using both humans and computers would be the best path to take.
  21. I believe he was being sarcastic and his comment was tounge-in-cheek.
  22. This is why getting rid of goal judges was a bad idea and one I hope they fix.
  23. Darrell1976 is simply telling the truth. Unfortunately, a lot of people on this forum are enjoying their green kool-aid too much to realize it. If Jones does indeed turn it around next year, I will give him all the props he deserves. But I have serious doubts it will happen. He has been in Grand Forks for 9 years and some people talk like nothing that happens with the program is on him. Well, when you are the CEO, the buck stops with you. If he finishes out his current contract and nothing has changed, it will be time for a change. If the team tanks it big time next year, it might be time to look for buyout money because the longer this program is mediocre, the harder it will be to turn it around.
