My point was Ira is clearly not able to be objective about a position battle if one of the candidates is from Detroit Lakes. That has been a pattern I have noticed over the years, I just haven't commented on it until now. Otherwise, I think Ira brings a good perspective on the program that the rest of us cannot provide. I guess I am just sick of people acting like we are 0-5 and struggling instead of 4-1 and improving day by day, week by week. Let's just roll with the punches (good and bad) and enjoy the ride. I actually like the process of building a program as I do the results when the pieces are in place for a title run.

Go start your own thread so you can slobber over Minnehaha Dix some more.

It is a fact that certain posters on this forum defend certain players from certain towns all the time, whether it is warranted or not.

And I also remember Chris Bellmore rallying us from behind against GVSU at home in the 2004 Division II playoff quarterfinals with two touchdown drives. Both Bellmore and Manke were good, solid (but not great) QBs who were more than good enough to win us games with the kind of defenses we had back then. Which is what Bubba wants us to get back to. And I think we are on our way to doing that. People need to stop acting like we are 0-5 and at least try to enjoy the success we have had so far this year. This is a process and it won't happen overnight. The wait will be well worth it.

Based on the fact that we are 4-1 in Bubba's second season and he has exactly one recruiting class of his own to work with, I think he has earned our trust. Two years from now.....we will have to wait and see what happens.

Just stating facts. Facts that a lot of people on here don't seem to have the guts to state.

Sorry, but I don't think Mollberg has proven he can play at this level and I am not afraid to come out and say so. I am mocking the people that are so fixated on having Studsrud replaced when we are freaking 4-1 and are close to being nationally ranked for the first time in a long time. I have faith in this coaching staff and if they think a change needs to be made at QB, they will make it. By the way, you are hardly an impartial voice on this topic, since you vociferously back any and every player that has ever come out of Detroit Lakes. Back in 2004, you and a couple of others on here (don't remember who they were) complained non-stop about how bad Chris Bellmore was at QB and that Reed Manke should have the job handed to him because he's a "born winner" and whatever else you guys said. Once he got in there, he was a good QB, but not the world-beater you guys were claiming. Unlike the previous staff, I trust Bubba and company to make good decisions regarding this program. With the progress we have made the last two years, I don't see why they shouldn't be trusted.

Well, when you are so fixated on one particular player (cough, cough, Mollberg, cough, cough) playing again, that is what happens. People also have to understand that the area of the team that was hit the hardest with defections after the coaching change was the offense, more specifically, the WR position. That will take a couple of years to fix. And the O-line is still a work in progress; although it is light years ahead of where it was even last year.

This franchise is going in the right direction for the first time in as long as I can remember (pre Denny Green era). Doesn't mean I'm not ticked off about how today ended, though.

%$#&@! .500 here we come.

23-20 Broncos with less than 2 minutes left. It's Teddy Time!

B.S. PI call on Rhodes. I call that the "Help Peyton Manning win" paradigm!
-
Because a bunch of people are all bent out of shape because Mollberg isn't starting at QB.
-
ummm, I guess we'll find out as the season progresses.
-
Oh, so you miss Mollberg dancing around for 5 seconds after the ball is snapped and then throwing off his back foot? I sure don't. The kid is just too inconsistent and too unpredictable for my taste.
-
Idaho State sounds like us two years ago. I really like being on the other side of that for a change!
-
I believe some people on here are absolutely obsessed with getting Mollberg back onto the field at QB. I don't see that happening. If the coaches want to make a change at QB, Bartels probably would get the nod. But he isn't all that mobile and with our O-line issues, that isn't a good combination. Let's just enjoy the 4-1 start and get pumped up for Homecoming next Saturday.
-
Well, we have four goaltenders to choose from. I am guessing one of them will seize control of the starting job and we can take it from there. Plenty of time to figure out the goaltending situation.

I agree with you, I was just pointing out the one obvious obstacle to moving back to campus. SDSU has gone from a crap hole stadium to facilities that should rank in the top 10 of FCS. If we want to do that in Grand Forks, we will need to raise a lot of money. But again, we have to ask ourselves the $1 million question: Will people go to home games when the temperature is below 40 degrees? I would hate to have a crucial late season game at home in front of 3,000 people; we cannot give up our home field advantage purely for the nostalgia of playing outdoors again.
-
Well, first we need to raise a crap load of money because Memorial Stadium as it is won't cut it.

One for Roughriders here. Anything but Sundogs or Nodaks.

Vote on your final 5 nickname choices (just ND is out)
fightingsioux4life replied to jimdahl's topic in UND Nickname
"But Grand Forks Red River High School uses it, so we can't." If people don't like Roughriders as a name, that's fine, but I am sick of hearing the Climax-Fisher Rule being used as the (sometimes) exclusive reason not to vote for it. Judge it purely on its merits as a name (btw, it is unique within the NCAA and that is as close to unique as we are going to get). -
Like all of your post, but especially this. It has gotten to the point where if it isn't just like REA, it sucks. Well, that is very myopic thinking. Most schools would kill to have something like the Alerus Center for football and in our climate, it is an absolute game-changer for us. That is one of the problems with UND athletics right now, everything revolves around REA and Men's Hockey and everything else gets shoved to the side or to the back. We need to start putting an emphasis on lifting up our newly-minted Division I programs so they are bringing in revenue and garnering us some positive media attention.
