  1. Note to you.....I agree with you as I have season tickets to both teams. I just hate to see some people throwing in the towel after one freaking game. As for the second part of your comment, that is a problem that needs to be solved. We need to get people excited about FB again, like back in the early 2000's.
  2. Listen to the tone of some of these posters. Some of them have mentally checked out of FB and are looking ahead to October 1st.
  3. The thing is, we won't know how good SB is until four to five games in. Same thing with our team or any other.
  4. It's one game. Man, a lot of people jumping off the ship already.
  5. You mean USD. Big difference in quality there.
  6. In Zimmer We Trust The Vikings will find a veteran to fill in for 2016 and will continue getting better on defense and in the running game behind a much better offensive line. Remember, Mike Tice isn't in charge anymore.
  7. This is a fair point to bring up. However, the time for UND to drop FB would have been at the beginning of our transition, like Omaha did. Now with Bubba and his staff in charge and the program on the upswing, it isn't going to happen. I think the point people are making is that women's hockey doesn't have the future potential in terms of revenue and on-ice success that other programs on campus have.
  8. You are describing the mission statement for high school athletics. But this isn't high school athletics. It's collegiate athletics.
  9. Does this mean you don't care about UND football? Because we are at the same level as FU.
  10. I wouldn't read too much into that. Women's hockey has to be under consideration for cutting or else this entire exercise will be a waste of time. At least that is the sense I get from Kennedy's statements.
  11. I loved that show.
  12. Wow, somebody has a grudge against Rhombus!
  13. If he wants a quick one-way trip out of town, that would do it.
  14. I was talking about each conference's respective standing in the world of mid-major Division I conferences. And in that respect, they are both considered lower-tier, one-bid leagues.
  15. Yeah......well, they will have to prove it on the ice or it doesn't count for much. We are King of the Mountain in this sport, until someone beats us in the playoffs.
  16. What? Are you freaking trolling? MBB is NOT "...the top sports show by far in fargo." Not. Even. Close. It's football now and (probably) forever down there. And if we are going to use the "Hockey is king, nothing else matters" excuse, then why did we move our programs up to Division I?
  17. This is the mentality I don't want to take root in Grand Forks with regard to MBB. I know Bubba is not thinking that small with regard to his program.
  18. You are right in that winning more will put more butts in the seats and make better home schedules more realistic. I just get tired of hearing we don't have the resources for this and that, when all of these factors you and other people are bringing up were in place when we were making the decision whether or not to move up. We have to overcome them or this Division I experiment will look like a bad idea.
  19. What? The Slummit is about the same in MBB as the Big Sky Conference: not very prestigious. Oh, and of course, #buttRPI
  20. Really? If this were the case, it wouldn't have taken 10+ years to finish the renovations to the BSA.
  21. Can't argue with that too much.
  22. If you mean football is the undisputed #2 sport on campus and in town, I agree with you. But we still need to make our basketball programs the best they can be. A trip to March Madness would be a huge publicity coup for the entire university.
  23. Okay Mr. Solutions, explain why a school that is very similar to UND in many aspects, is a part of the NDUS, and which is facing the same budgetary issues UND is much more successful than UND at getting Division I teams to come to town. That is what I meant by "explaining away". The whole Fargo Megalopolis argument doesn't hold water with me; it's one freaking hour away via Interstate. Grand Forks isn't Barrow, Alaska. At least you didn't use the "Grand Forks is too cold during the winter" argument that some people have used on here. Partnering with NDSU is a good idea, but with their current leadership and their attitude towards UND, I don't think that will happen. But considering that their President is likely on his way out the door, that could change soon. Finally, our poor attendance won't get better until the team performs more consistently over the course of a season. People are taking a wait and see attitude toward the team (like with football). I do hope Jones can have a big year and get this program to the next level.
  24. Exactly, you simply cannot explain this away.
