  1. Hey, I thought it was funny! And I think that's all it was, a piece of twisted humor.
  2. Based on some of the other results around the league this weekend, it sure isn't "par for the time of year" for everybody. Cripes, SCSU and Omaha combined for 9 goals last night (3 more than both of our games combined). But when Duluth does such a good job of solid, fundamental blocking and tackling, I guess those are the results you will get. I think UND and St. Cloud have two of the most skilled teams in the league and I think it will serve them well when playing against teams that average 5+ goals/game like Boston College (maybe that's an exaggeration, but the point still stands).
  3. But it's on you and me because we're not writing checks to fund it ourselves. The small-time thinking of UND is so discouraging.
  4. I don't believe I said it was easy. And you are right, winning will help a lot. And Bubba is well on his way to doing that.
  5. Well, when UND was a national title contender in Division II back in the early 2000's (and won a national title in 2001), the marketing efforts were almost as bad as today. So that isn't necessarily true.
  6. And guess how much NDSU will cut? I am guessing ZERO.
  7. Yes. And if my rants bother you so much, just don't read them. Capisce?
  8. That is B.S. NDSU is in the same university system as UND and has to deal with the same budget issues, but nothing seems to stop their marketing effort, which is much better than ours (and always has been). Cripes, I see billboards for NDSU from Brainerd, MN to the Twin Cities and all points in between. UND's presence is lacking in the region and I don't want to hear that we can't do anything about it because of "budget cuts". How many state appropriated dollars go to athletics anyway? I know our athletic scholarships are privately funded for the most part. If the marketing people at UND don't have what they need, then it is high time they start getting it. And that starts with a President who understands the importance of athletics as a marketing tool for the entire campus. I really hope whomever gets the job understands that. And please, spare the cute little comments about how "If I am willing to write a check, they'll gladly do it". I already give in the form of season tickets and Champions Club membership, as do a lot of people on this forum. It all starts with leadership and for the past 10 years or so, NDSU has been much better than UND in that area. End Rant.
  9. Wow, Bisonville might melt down over this!
  10. Create? Create what? I could lobby the athletic department to ramp up the marketing effort for our non-hockey programs, but it would be up to them to do it, not me. I don't get paid to "create" and neither do you. I made one observational comment about the weak marketing efforts for our non-hockey programs; that was it. What I said has been said by others on this forum many times over the years. I am not the first person to bring it up and I sure won't be the last. But if you want to make a mountain out of my little molehill, then by all means go right on ahead.
  11. First of all, it isn't my job to do this, it is theirs. You just seem to be content with everything as it is; I respectfully disagree with that approach. Second of all, I am simply commenting on what I have seen over the years and over several Athletic Directors (Wanless, Thomas, Buning and now Faison). Don't shoot the messenger.
  12. I have been saying that about all our non-hockey programs for years. Don't hold your breath waiting for it to change.
  13. Yeah, the whole conference is tough. But the team I saw last weekend is not the same team we have watched for most of this season. I expect a big rebound weekend vs. Duluth.
  14. You are 100% right; Fletcher deserves much of the blame as well and he is next on the chopping block if this franchise implodes. And that could very well happen the rest of this season and the off-season.
  15. I am not sure about that. I think some teams have the players elect their captain and other teams have the coaches do it.
  16. These coaches make lots of money to do what they do for a living. And the Wild have spent a lot of money to upgrade the roster. So yes, I do think Yeo wasn't getting the most out of what he had to work with. And yes, I do think it was right to hand him his walking papers. Tom Powers of the St. Paul Pioneer Press had a piece a few weeks back calling the Wild "Yeobots" for basically using the same tired-old system that Jacques Lemaire used to use. He also pointed out that every team in the NHL does not use the same exact system. So I am not surprised he was let go; it simply wasn't going to get turned around. Sometimes players need to hear a different voice; maybe that will give them the shot in the arm they have needed.
  17. That was the final regular season series that year, which allowed the Gophers to claim a share of the WCHA title. We would not lose another game all season. Let us hope for a repeat of that this year.
  18. Just a bad weekend all around (not just hockey either). Time to get back to some home cooking and take care of the Dogs.
  19. I watched the first two periods. Other than the first half of the 1st period, I thought we were outplayed and outskated. We looked tired and a little sluggish. Look for a bounce-back game tonight.
  20. When they can't make the NCAA tournament because they lose too many non-conference games to bad teams, I would question that.
  21. That isn't the point either. When some of your Bison rubes come on here and make fun of Bubba's name (Bubba Gump) and what he wears at practice (the big floppy hat) and tell us you are happy with Bubba in charge of UND football because he did nothing at SIU, then you shouldn't expect us to kiss your a$$ and bow down to you. This is siouxsports.com, not bisonville.com. If you want positive affirmation, you better go to the latter and stop reading the former.
  22. I think the program has hit a ceiling with Idalski. I don't think we'll do much better than third place in the league with him at the helm.
  23. This comment reflects just how ignorant and delusional the NDSU fan base has become. The idea that UND will remain in the toilet with regards to football is the very definition of ignorance. But keep telling yourself that if you wish.
  24. The early 1990's featured great MBB teams and slowly decaying MH teams. That is what Wayne Nelson was talking about.
  25. Couldn't agree with you more. I have been saying this ever since we decided to move up to Division I.
