Really? It is a FACT that hockey at B1G schools is not held with anything close to the regard that MBB and FB are. Sometimes I think even WBB may rank higher than hockey if their women's team is doing really well. There is not a thing I posted that was off-the-wall or out of bounds. Our program will NOT fade into the past and be relegated to mid-major status. Neither will the NCHC.
-
Those schools are not "blue bloods". Duke, North Carolina, UCLA..........those are blue bloods. And none of them are playing right now. Also, the barstool sports article you posted earlier said NIL would help the smaller schools compete. So which is it? Does it favor the big guys or the little guys? NIL is very early in its life cycle. A lot of things could happen with it. UND boosters can and should get a collective started and I would chip in something, but let's not proclaim UND's time as a hockey power over.
-
Upsets have been part of the MBB tournament for years. And they have become more common in recent years.........before NIL was a thing at all. NIL is a convenient scapegoat and boogeyman for everything that happens in collegiate athletics. And a cheap and easy story idea for journalists who don't have ideas of their own and have a deadline to meet.

So all that "State of Hockey" rhetoric is just cleaver marketing by the Wild?
-
All this NIL talk is pure conjecture. FB and MBB will probably land the lion's share of deals since those sports have a much higher profile than hockey. Also, except for the Goofs, hockey ranks #3 at best (sometimes lower) at B1G schools. The NCHC wasn't going to be #1 every year forever (that is just not realistic), but some people on this forum already have us being relegated to mid-major status from now on. I think that is alarmist. NIL is something UND boosters should take seriously, but it isn't the end all and be all some people think it is. The NCAA will likely introduce rules and regulations on NIL in the future, which will change things again. Let's focus on rebooting our program and less on things we cannot control.

The last #1 seed just went down.
-
That is why I am choosing not to watch this year. I can hardly wait until October so we can turn our program around and get back to winning.
-
I wouldn't want to risk NCAA sanctions, so I think we better do this 100% above board.
-
I like this idea, but UND cannot be involved in it (NCAA rule).
-
Are you referring to where the visiting team's bus drives inside? I think @Frozen4sioux was talking about parking for fans going to the games.
-
The NCAA requires us to sponsor X number of sports as a Division I institution. The Summit League has requirements as well. And we need to stop looking at this as a pure zero-sum game. There is vast untapped fundraising potential that we are simply not tapping. And as for getting blue chippers, having local businesses start up NIL programs would help. The "heated underground parking" would benefit us fans more than anyone else.

He is in prison now? When we won it all in 2016, he went on an online tirade about how we don't deserve it and how awful we are as fans.
-
It's probably ROOT Beer, but that is fine by me.

Pointing out weaknesses and shortcomings in your own team and/or institution does not mean you "aren't really a UND fan". It means you don't like where your team and/or institution is and want them to do better. A lot of the shameless apologists on this forum don't understand that and probably never will.

He's going from Defensive Coordinator to Defensive Backs coach. That isn't a downgrade?
-
Lot of good teams left in their path to overcome. And they will not hang onto their top talent for three to four years. NHL agents are probably lurking in the shadows of every arena they are in right now in case they are eliminated so they can get a contract signed.
-
If we don't have the facilities and money to win big at hockey now, we never will. Those complaints are 100% legitimate for our other sports however.
-
There is a proven history of UND losing coaches to lateral moves, with the coaches making more money at their new location. That has "basis in truth" Mr. @jdub27. If this is an exception to that, I will gladly stand corrected. And Mr. @SiouxBoys, a coach isn't going to poor-mouth their previous employer over a low salary, in public anyway. The "closer to family" line is sometimes used to avoid answering questions about that. And I thought collegiate athletics was all about the Benjamins?
-
So you think coaches routinely make lateral moves for less money? I maintain it is a rare exception and not the rule. If this is an exception, so be it. But our salaries are still too low to retain quality coaches.
-
What percentage of coaches ever take a lower-ranked job at a school at the same level (FCS in this case) for less money? I would guess the percentage is pretty miniscule. This could be one of those exceptional cases, I'll grant you, but I am skeptical of that. We have lost MBB coaches to lateral moves within our own conference and those coaches made more money in their new jobs. I am guessing this is another example of that. But even if I am wrong in this case, low coaches salaries are still a big problem at UND.

F the Goofers. Every team that plays them from now on is my favorite team. I want Dubay crying in his beer before this tournament is over.
-
A downgrade job.....with a higher salary. Let that sink in.

The Frozen Faceoff…may it rest in peace

I think St. Thomas will be more committed to winning than Miami is. The Redhawks haven't been good at anything for quite awhile now. The 2009 Runner-Up finish is a distant memory. -

Roll out the young D men and live with their mistakes. Hopefully, they grow and learn together and develop chemistry.
