  1. Obviously people go to the games to watch the team play live. But you need to look past that to keep people coming and to get new fans to make the commitment to pay the price for tickets/parking/food/etc as opposed to just watching it at home. College attendance for many sports is decreasing. Especially in the student section. Not school is immune from this. Ticket prices at the Ralph are also getting to a point where it is getting really expensive, especially families, to go to games. The one thing that UND has done, but can do a better job at, is the in game experience. Football has done a great job with improvements they have made to tailgating, in game entertainment, branding at the Alerus, etc. the committee they formed to focus on that really has done a great job. The hockey program doesn't need to work as hard to market the game experience. Year in and year out we are National Title contender and have always had high end talent on the ice. Not to mention a facility that is the top in college hockey. But UND and the Ralph can't just bank on that and think it will be that way forever and get lazy with their marketing of the product and appealing to the paying customers that walk through the doors. Maybe a committee similar to the Football game day experience committee needs to be formed to ensure that the hockey game day experience continues to be the best in the country.
  2. I agree with you on the gray. Not a huge fan. The new basketball jerseys with green letters on gray are awful. The dark ones they had last year were much better. Take my comment as a tongue and cheek remark about #siouxforever fans. I am with you on the green. We need more of it not less.
  3. Hate it all you want the the MVFC gets maybe over ranked, but UND will most certainly benefit being in the Valley moving forward from 2020 on. If we go 7-4 in 2020, we are in the playoffs without a doubt. Doesn't help us now, but something to look forward to I guess!!
  4. If I was new to ND hockey and say the fans in the stands, I'd assume our nickname was still the Sioux!! Perception matters, but only when it is something you want to perceive as important.
  5. Initially I didn't see the Sioux silhouette on the right saide. I saw a failed attempt at making it look like an indian with a colorful headdress. A couple minor tweeks and you can see it.
  6. Good thing is they play each other this week. One of those teams guaranteed to be 6-5.
  7. With the potential of there being a bunch of 7-4 teams at the end of season, I am just stating what is on our resume. I can't comment on the other teams. Just stating our resume, and it is not a strong one.
  8. I am looking at all the numbers, and I don't see how even with a win, we get in the playoffs. Huge factor the committee looks at is strength of schedule. Looking at just FCS opponents, we have only played 3 teams with a record and have wins against one of those teams. (SHSU is currently 5, so that number could increase by 1 in both stats). Right now the combined record of our opponents is 38-50. And a win against a then 3-7 NAU (game this week got cancelled) doesn't help us much at all. Not trying to say there isn't a chance because 7-4 teams get in all the time. But just saying that our SOS and our lack of wins against teams with a winning record doesn't help us make a strong case for the committee to have us selected in the playoff field.
  9. Gee, SiouxForever, why would any label you like that!!
  10. I have always wondered if the hockey team would go with the trend the other programs are doing by adding the grey jersey. Black has always been their alternate fir years. But a grey jersey using a new design different from what they have now would be sweet!!
  11. Not saying that our logo is the best logo in the history of logos, but every other alternative Fighting Hawks mockup alternative logo I have seen is far worse.
  12. I tend to agree with you. As someone mentioned before, buying the current jersey is great, but it almost forces you to have to personalize it so it looks right. Something like pictured above with North Dakota or Hawks where you don't need the number would be good.
  13. I hear ya. And I agree. So how bout these logos? Someone do a mockup on a jersey using these logos. Thow some "Hawks" or "North Dakota" on there as well!!
  14. Just something I noticed in regards to apparel the hockey team/coaches wear. All of it is "North Dakota Hockey" and no "Fighting Hawks Hockey" or the logo with "hockey" under it. Also never hear hockey coached/players/etc refer to themselves as Fighting Hawks or identify the program with the Fighting Hawks. Should it bug me? No. but it does. And I am probably not alone.
  15. I am not referring to the rejection of the logo by the fans or the hockey program. I am bringing up the point as to why the Administration has made the conscious decision to not mandate the use of the Fighting Hawks logo with the hockey program. Who is making that call? Chaves? Kennedy? Is Berry pushing back? Again, my point is why we are using basically 2 logos for our athletic programs. One for hockey, another for everything else. If you you are sick of this discussion dragging on, think of why that is.
  16. My point is why is the Athletic Department not mandating that all programs use the Fighting Hawks predominately. Everything with the hockey program uses the North Dakota script logo and not the Hawks logo. I get it. The majority of UND hockey fans don't like the logo, but why is the Athletic Department letting them decide how to use it? Why let the mob rule in regards to logo implementation? Like I said before, the University has spent thousands of dollars in re branding. UNd has a new name and logo and what to market it. Why not promote it with our biggest and most popular program by mandating the use of the logo by the program? Seems like the hockey team gets a pass for not having to use the logo for reasons that seem very pety like they don't want to offend fans that haven't moved on yet primarily in the hockey fanbase.
  17. One thing that I think is odd is that our athletic department has decided to use one logo for one athletic team and one logo for everyone else. Yes, we all get it. There are many fans of the hockey program that will never embrace the new Fighting Hawks logo. but why does the University and the Athletic Department have to cave to those people just to not make them upset? I am not trying to dig up the "we must all support the new logo" argument". That's not what I am getting at. I am talking about the University and Athletic Department (which has spent a lot of money on re branding the new logo) to allow a sort of "brand confusion" by allowing the hockey team to promarily use the "North Dakota" script as their primary logo while the rest of athletic programs are using the Hawks logo.
  18. Hawaii basketball plays at the 10,000+ seat Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. Not sure if it has ever had an ice rink in it.
  19. If they get the new Arena that the Coyotes want, A game against ASU would be very successful.
  20. Doing a little research, I found the last UND head football coach that wasn't a former player or assistant coach was Marvin Helling (1957-1967).
  21. Bubba needs to realize that if he doesn't get rid of Kostich and Rudy at the end of the year. If he doesn't realize that, he is not the man we need in charge of this program.
  22. For years I have been disappointed by the lack of plays for the Tight End. I don't think a TE has had over 5 receptions since Jim Kleinsasser!! We have size and strength at the position yet Rudy fails to use them.
  23. I don't know bout you guys, but I think Buffalo, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Boston would be great places for "destination" games in the next few years!!
  24. That second down pass play when we had the ball and. I WR’s to pass to was inexcusable.
