  1. To sum up....The Big Sky is watching very closely how UND is affected now by the sactions that are imposed on them. If they feel that they are not a viable member, the can and WILL vote UND out of the Big Sky Conference. That is a fact. Its time to face reality. Under sanctions, we will most deffinitley feel the affects of it. The ability to schedule games will suffer, recruiting will suffer. In my opinion there is a better chance that we will be kicked ou of the BIG SKY with the name than there is we won't.
  2. Just listened to Fullerton on KGFO. To sum up, he basically said that he expects North Dakota to be in the Big Sky starting this summer when we pay our initial dues and compete next year in all athletics. He said that the University will be able to compete with the sanctions and if they can survive then there will not be a problem. But he said that that happening was not very realistic. Once North Dakota does not appear to be an asset to the Big Sky, then they can at any time choose to vote them out. Also said that getting a majority is not that hard to do when all of the Presidents are together. Says they are very common. So while he said that they are not going to get kicked out now, the possibility is certainly very very real.
  3. Fullerton's comments on the situation. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/228888/
  4. I will always remember the old DECC. It was my first ever road hockey game. Great atmosphere!! The seats are right on top of the action!! I will always remember DHG and the rest of the students running around the concourse after UMD scored and then doing the same with my buddies one game and our Sioux flag when we scored!!! I remember tieing the game and running around the arena and being tripped by an old lady, and then less than a minute later we took the lead and we went straight towards the student section to run the flag around again. Security busted that up. Don't think they allowed flags after that year!! I am looking forward to seeing Amsoil up close. Hope to see tons of Sioux fans there!! I wouldn't expect anything less!!
  5. We have usually on to Grandma's sports bar after. seems to be the place to go since it is pretty big! Old Chicago is also a good place. Just trying to figure out what to do with one of the guys that I am going with. Anything good going on this weekend anywhere...live bands or anything?
  6. Duluth is my favorite road trip in the WCHA. Going out before and after the games in Canal Park is great!! I love how the arena is right downtown. The people are always great there. We usually get along becausw we have one thing in common...our hatred towards the Gophers!!! I am heading there this year again for probably my 6th roadtrip there in the last 10-12 years. Gonna be great!! should be some great games!!
  7. D - A - K - O - T - A Dakota, Dakota, Go Sioux!!!!!!!
  8. I hope the students realize what is happening. They have already been moved down a section. If they don't start showing up, they are going to sloly but surely move to the ends of the Alerus like where they put the NDSU students in the Fargodome!!
  9. Besides the team we are playing this year, the home opener will be great. New season, the weather will be great, starting a new conference, and everyone will want to check out the new turf!! I think that UND and the Alerus should not publish any pictures of the new turf before the game. It will add that extra hype to the game!! Although I have complained about the SOM game repeatedly, I will diffinitely be there!!
  10. Everybody calm down!! Seriously!! There is a lot of time before the FCS contract expires. A lot can happen in a week let alone 18 months. Step away from the ledge, take a deep breath. It's gonna be OK.
  11. Would let everyone in the country know who the REAL college basketball team in North Dakota is!!
  12. We have traditionally played well in Duluth. I think we have 1 loss in Duluth in the last 10 years. Hopefully that trend can continue. Headed there myself with some friends. Excited to check out Amsoil and gettting 4 points!! Always alot of Sioux fans that make the trip. I expect the same in 2 weeks!! "Engelstad East" will be rockin!!!
  13. The student sections got shifted down a section and the season ticket holders in 212 got moved to 215. The rest of 215 is up for grabs for anyone!
  14. This will help you get ready for the Badger games this weekend!! http://www.badgerbadgerbadger.com/
  15. Since it "worked" for Boise state, how come other FCS schools aren't making the jump? Montana, Appalacian State, Northern Iowa...if it was so easy and such a great idea, those schools would have made the jump years ago. I think its ok to think big for this program, but looking at the FBS is not the right option. As a fan, do you want to see your team compete for a National Championship, or not. UND can do that in the FCS. No chance in FBS. Boise State went FBS and beat some very good teams. Even went undefeated a couple of those years. But guess what, didn't win a Championship. Sure they have a Fiesta Bowl championship, but I would much rather win the National Championship than any FBS bowl championship. Anyday.
  16. UND could beat Alabama or Oklahoma. Is this what you are saying? Do you believe this? Really? Pretty sure 99.9% of people anywhere would agree with me. Maybe we are all short sighted!!
  17. Top College Hockey Towns, top 4 would be: 1.Boston 2.Grand Forks 3.Madison 4.Orono
  18. UND would never make any playoff. The best the FBS can hope for in regards to a plyoff is an 8 team playoff. No chance UND will make that. Absolutely none.
  19. Personally, I would love to compete for a National Championship every year in football. There is ZERO chance of doing that at the FBS level. Instead of trying to be a small fish in a big pond, UND needs to focus on being the best FCS program in the country. Dreams of playing in the FBS get in the way of that goal.
  20. Pretty sure that had more to do with building a new parking ramp east of Columbia. Do you honestly think that UND is going to build a 25000 seat retractable roof stadium? Honestly, is this what you really believe?
  21. Nothing wrong with dreaming big, but you have to be realistic. While I agree that this program can grow and attract many more fans, the chance of UND going to the FBS and building a new 25000 seat stadium is very unlikely. I think a more realistic goal would be to build the indoor practice facility and rebuild memorial stadium to hold 15000-18000 people all while competing at the FCS level. While dreaming of playing in the FBS is bold, it is just not pratical. You be positive, I'll be realistic. Maybe we can meet somewhere in the middle.
  22. UND moving to FBS?? Are you serious? You can't be honestly saying that with a straight face can you? 15000 average attendance? When was the last time we averaged 10000 in a season? Do you really think we can compete with FBS teams? We can barely beat NAIA teams right now!! We have tough enough games with FCS teams, not sure how we can compete at the FBS level. Even if we did decide to go FBS, I am sure there would be conferences jumping to add the University of North Dakota. And what is the benifit of playing at the FBS level? So we can have a sub 500 record every year and get blown out in most games!! I can't believe I am having this dicussion. UND playing at the FBS level??? What a rediculous statement!!
  23. Well wherever the money the comes from, I still don't think UND can justify building a stadium that size. Look at our attendance. Even in the early 2000's we had 11000 people. I get that you are looking big picture. Heck, I would love to see 20,000+ people at a UND football home game. But the reality of that happening anytime soon is not great. If we want to get this program really going, build the proposed indoor facility. That will get better recruits to come to UND which will produce better teams and hopefully because of that, increase attendance. So like I said. Until the Alerus is selling out every game on a regular basis, the talk for a new stadium seems kind of rediculous. Lets pack out an 11000 seat stadium before we talk about filling a 25000 seat stadium.
  24. Are you high?? Building a stadium for 25,000-30-000???!!!! Yeah, thats a great idea if you want to spend 80 million on a stadium that will be half full. Seriously. Fargo would struggle to fill a stadium that size for a game, and they have 3 times the population around Fargo than GF does. UND has acereaged under 9000 for football over the last 4 years. So I highly doubt that UND could convince the city and its taxpayers that a 30000 seat stadium would be justified. especially at that price!! Until the Alerus starts selling out on a regular basis, there is no need for a new stadium of that size.
  25. Guy behind us always tells us to sit down after we just scored and we have not even kicked the extra poinit yet!! I am not afraid to stand up and cheer. I want others with that mindset around me!!
