  1. 14u girls advance out of pool play with a 1-1-1 record. Play in the quarterfinals today. I think this is the first time a girls team has advance to the tourney part. A few ND Girls HS players, and a bunch that should be HS next year before the move lol....
  2. The program that was the 6th and final for the B1G which lead to the demolition of the WCHA as we knew it. Gross.
  3. And Rinzel apparently.
  4. Love the Wally and Hennessey's of the world!
  5. I'd say a few things can all be true: It was a trip (stick in feet/legs on player going through NZ with speed). However, whistle didn't blow....keep playing the game. Also, don't get taken to the woodshed in the 3rd period.
  6. It's gonna take a lot of convincing and a heck of a sales job - the numbers of zeros in a contract can do that.
  7. Maybe I mis-represented my main point. And I agree with you. What I wish we knew is...had they not left, how many kids would've ended up in the exact same spot down the road regardless?
  8. Morelli went to CCM tryouts last weekend. He might be practicing with Minot but if he plays for Team ND in this, it doesn't look like he'll be playing for the Tauros. In watching the state tournament, it looks like he needs to increase in foot speed to be a NAHL regular but that's just my opinion.
  9. What a list. Zimmerman did make me chuckle. Harper Bentz and Kai Weigel both left Bismarck and ended up on the Moorhead Spuds roster too. Ryan Leingang was a 2004 goalie who left Bismarck for Omaha AAA hockey. Came back and had to sit out a year. Then tried to come back and play at Legacy and found he lost the love for the game and stopped playing at Christmas his SR season. He was a very good goalie as well. Everyone's got a different plan and a different path when it comes to hockey. Hockey is definitely unique...imagine families moving for sports like football, track, basketball (happens, but rare). I'm a firm believer in kids not needing to leave. But that's just me. I wish we could know what their paths were had they stayed and played with their buddies....but we don't have magic wands.
  10. Arrogant parents making a ridiculous decision. The path for goaltender is so tough, stay home and face the rubber until you are dominant. Kid wasn't even close to sniffing HS competition and the parents had options right in the Capital City to play for Faragher - a great human and goalie mentor. If you have a checkbook, you can find a team.
  11. That place is still kicking in Bismarck and it blows my mind.
  12. Yeah I also agree with all of your points. I'm a veteran sports parent, I've come to learn and accept that youth and HS sports are cut throat and selfish. That's all I mean when I say I'm fine with it. Wanna move to Warroad for hockey? So be it. Not going to lie, I'd love for my kids to experience that hockey culture. I've had multiple friends do it on the girls side and they love it, I don't have the gonads to do it. Wanna uproot your family to move to Moorhead or the Cities? Get your wallet out for Northstar, Shattuck or SF Power? Go for it. Your choice . Doesn't mean that something I would do, and all your points are valid as well. I've just learned to tuck my chin and mind my own bobber.
  13. You are correct that Moorhead, EGF, for example have players who moved to town. I for one have no problem with it. If families feel that's what's best for them so be it. It's the world we live in.
  14. Numbers and skill aren’t there.
  15. Roseau is making a mistake. And half the community is ready to move back. Problem is, they’ll struggle to win at A for a long time as well. Section rivals with Moorhead, Sartell, Buffalo? WTF. could be playing conference games and section 8 playoffs with Warroad, EGF, TRF instead.
  16. That format is awesome. Still hard to fathom the likes of Roseau winning the whole dang thing a couple times.
  17. Could be. I'll believe it when I see it. I haven't seen anyone crying for it online or anywhere. I think Minnesota has it down to perfection at the moment.
  18. Well that's a great question. It wasn't us kids getting our asses handed to us by Roseau and Warroad I know that from experience.
  19. I grew up in a Section 8 town that has zero chance to even make the section semifinals in section 8. I've never in my life heard one person from that community or any hockey people from the area talk about the need for a 3rd class of hockey.
  20. In the early 1990s they went from one class to a tiered system. The regular season played out and then they ranked teams into a Tier 1 and Tier 2. Lake of the Woods made the Tier 2 state championship (1993 I think). That lasted for a couple years before it was split into Class A and AA. So 30ish years.
  21. Never. And I grew up in one of those towns. That being said, wouldn't mind seeing the Warroad, EGF, Hermantown, Cathedral Orono and some of those types move up to AA. Have some balls like Roseau...unless rumors are true they're considering a move down.
  22. Let's take this to the board of directors.
  23. Hopefully pickup a couple hutterites from Fordville
  24. What's also crazy about Moorhead is their success is what...30 years old? These kids parents are the generation that put Moorhead on the map.
  25. Grand Forks has good hockey. This isn't breaking news.
