All of the bolded schools have also worn new alternate uniforms on multiple occasions over the last few years. I don't mind them but they aren't nearly as good as their all black ones that they wore. http://www.triple-tri.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/UO.png Those are my favorite of any team this year.

Nope, but I am the exact opposite of someone being PC. Dad was in the air force, both grand fathers served in WWII, some of my best friends served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Its only disrespectful if you want it to be.
  5. Sorry, I just don't see it. I think its kinda bla. I'm in the interlocking corner.
  6. Haha only 197 more donors to go
  7. It doesn't matter if it would have been a losing battle. The fact of the matter is that he didn't support the school he made the school support him. He threw all of the supporters of the name under the bus for the sake of being politically correct. He has never said anything positive about the name but instead let the name supporters get bashed by a vocal minority. The perception is that he forced the name out more than he ever supported the name. Perception is reality, and Kelly will forever be known as the president that let the name die, justified or not. The worst part is that outside of the nickname controversy I think Kelly has been very good for the school. The problem is that there was so many ways he could have handled the controversy and he picked one of the worst ways to handle it by not doing anything and people will never forget it.
  8. I agree with what you are saying but for the sake of playing devils advocate one could also make the argument that if the state doesn't agree to pay for some stadium cost and the team ends up moving then the state will lose a lot more in the long run than if they just paid some now. I don't know what the numbers are but the Vikings obviously bring in millions upon millions to local businesses and taxes every year.
  9. I also have heard some rumbling about possibly doing that. I wonder if it is something the state would look into after things start to settle down a bit out west. I would suspect stuff like that is something they would look after the housing settles down and flood recovery situations start getting under control.
  10. I wish they had a full playoff but the only thing I keep hearing that comes close is the plus 1. For those that aren't familiar with the plus 1 system it is basically a 4 team playoff. #1 would play #4, #2 would play #3 and the winners would play one more (plus 1) to determine the national champions. I, personally, don't want to see small conference schools able to play for the championship. That is unless they are required to play a certain amount of non conference games against major conference opponents. Otherwise your giving the big schools the shaft. A one loss SEC, B1G, or Pac12 school deserves a bid over any undefeated team from the Big East or the likes. I guess in my eyes its no different that class a and class b in north dakota sports. Yes, you could have a good class b team but every class b team would get dominated by a good class a team. You can't punish teams for playing better competition, in fact, they should be rewarded.

All black unis would be sweet as an alternate uni just like it is for hockey. I would still stick with the green jerseys for our home and white for away but all blacks against rivals would be sweet. I could see it now. A few years from now NDSU comes back to town to restart the rivalry in a black out at the Alerus. That would be awesome.
  12. “How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others?” The answer lies in the fact that there are two types of laws: just and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that “an unjust law is no law at all.” -Martin Luther King, Jr., Letter from Birmingham Jail, 16 April 1963
  13. How do you figure? How can you just assume that marijuana caused them to become ruined? edit: and no I'm not a rehab expert but if you watch the video a Harvard Medical Professor agrees with my statement. Is he qualified enough?
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKgY5eOlhEc&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZyqhtwmJ5c&feature=related- has some swear words Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it should be illegal. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't smoke pot but its a joke to think I should be able to tell others they can't. I know many people that still smoke pot and they aren't dumb, lazy esc and further more none of them feel an urge to go try heroin, cocaine, or meth. I guarantee you that you know people that smoke pot and you don't even realize it. Your logic is no different than the anti Sioux nickname opponents. Its the whole I don't like it so you shouldn't have it. It just doesn't make any sense. Look at it this way. If you have a kid and they got caught smoking pot do you think they deserve to be in prison with sex offenders, murderers and the likes?
  15. and Minot has another company moving in http://minotdailynews.com/page/content.detail/id/560392/Pulse-company-buys-Minot-processing-facility-with-plans-to-expand.html?nav=5010 "The facility is expected to create 40 jobs when it opens next summer." "Our vision for Minot is to make this our North America processing center in the U.S...." More jobs coming in like crazy. That city is going to explode with residents. I wouldn't be totally surprised if it becomes the second biggest city in the state behind Fargo.
  16. The war on drugs is a joke. It does more harm then good. Especially when it comes to marijuana. I don't smoke pot but you can use common sense to tell you that the war on drugs doesn't do anything but create more problems than it fixes. You have a completely harmless and non addictive "drug" that is outlawed. What does outlawing it do? Well for starters you do nothing but give criminals such as the cartels more money. People aren't going to stop smoking it because its illegal, it didn't work with alcohol prohibition and it doesn't work for pot. So the cartels get more money to buy more guns and more cops and more politicians. Next, your putting non violent criminals in prison where they have to adapt to prison life to survive so when they are released they are more violent than they originally were. Finally, by putting these non violent "criminals" in prison you do nothing but waste tax payer dollars and overwhelm the prison system. All of this because of a plant. The whole "its a gateway drug" is total bs. The entire war on drugs and anti marijuana advertising does nothing but breed fallacy. Do you guys realize who some of the main funders are for advertising the war on drugs? Liquor and cigarette companies. They know if it becomes legal that their profits will dip. Lastly, pot is not addictive in any way. Whoever said it is is full of it. There is a difference between abusing a product and being addicted to a product. An addiction is a chemical imbalance that makes the body seemingly need the product. If you smoke pot for 2 years and then go cold turkey you don't go in withdrawals. You don't start sweating and have an increased heartbeat. Things like heroin and alcohol cause that and that can lead to death. Pot doesn't do that. Sure you can abuse the product, but you can abuse damn near anything. I can abuse water and drink it and drink it and I will eventually die. I could stab my eye out with a fork. I can speed my car around like crazy. Yes I'm abusing the product I'm using but we don't go out and outlaw water, forks, or cars. People tend to make assumptions on things because of what is on tv and what their parents told them. It doesn't matter if the information they receive is correct or not. If opposers to marijuana actually went out and spent some time to RESEARCH what they believe, I think that they would really be surprised at what they find.
  17. The sad part about this is that it seems that everyone is so focused on Paterno that it seems he is getting all the blame because he is who he is. I do not support what Paterno did in any way and I think he should have been canned for his part. I just hope the real scumbag Sandusky gets what all of us hope he does. What a sick sick man.
  18. I just came back from Minot and had some good conversation with some of the residents there. I don't know how many people will end up in that town but they were talking about Minot possibly getting to the size up around 70,000 in the next 10 to 15 years. I don't know how realistic it is but that means Minot would virtually double in size from about 5 years ago and I will say the amount of houses and apartments that are going up there is ridiculous. I also know that they are going to be building another 9-12 high school in the coming years.
  19. I would redshirt him. jmo but I would rather keep him here as long as possible. Give Bradley the job for one more year and then Mollberg can step in with one year of practice in the system and try to reduce some of the growing pains of a true freshman QB. I think we all have to remember that no matter how talented the kid is it is still a major step up going from Detroit Lakes to the Big Sky Conference.
  20. Leddy was not good for Minnesota. Not very good indeed.
  21. I heard Reggie Morelli's got a grandson that will be playing varsity for Minot High this year. I've heard he is a good little player.
  22. Hak has done an outstanding job since he has been here. Can't imagine him not getting a very long extension.
  23. Nevermind, I found the statement that Florida State's president issued after the NCAA's policy came out. http://www.fsu.edu/news/2005/08/05/tk.response/ Just a few snippets from the statement- "Florida State University is stunned at the complete lack of appreciation for cultural diversity shown by the National Collegiate Athletic Association's executive committee, which announced today a policy banning schools using Native American names and symbols from hosting NCAA championship events. That the NCAA would now label our close bond with the Seminole Tribe of Florida as culturally "hostile and abusive" is both outrageous and insulting." "The rules as we understand them would have us cover the Seminole name and symbol as if we were embarrassed, and any committee that would think that is a proper and respectful treatment of Native Americans should be ashamed." Anyone ever hear Kelly have his school's back like that..........
  24. Did you read my post? Or did you choose to not acknowledge the fact that I said that if he felt there was no other way to go about things other than losing the name then so be it. But you still don't throw your own university under the bus. Has anyone ever heard Kelly take umbrage with UND being called hostile and abusive? Has anyone ever heard Kelly say he supports the name? Has Kelly ever stuck up for the university during this whole fiasco? The answer is no. Being a leader means you sometimes have to do things that the majority doesn't like, you are correct, but there are other ways to go about it then to sell out on the people you represent. I have less of a problem with losing the name than I do with how Kelly handled the entire situation. He has let people rip on the school while he sits back in his luxury home on campus, both of which were paid for by the people that he routinely hangs out to dry. I have said it before, Kelly preaches about turning this school into a premier university but he fails to act as presidents do at premier universities. Go take a look around the net for what the president of Florida State said when dealing with their name issue and compare it with what Kelly has said and I think you will see some major discrepancies. Just my opinion, but Kelly needs to get good or get gone.
