  1. There are some things that Kelly has done that I like. Such as emphasizing more dollars on research and trying to further improve the academics of the college. That being said there are issues that he simply has not acted like a leader. I know this thread is about Mrs. Delano but look no further than the name issue. He threw the school under the bus. He could have simply said something like I support our name and don't believe that the school is in any way hostile or abusive but in light of the sanctions being imposed by the NCAA I feel we have no choice but to retire the name. But instead basically told everyone that he doesn't support the alumni and states point of view when those are the people that he was, in fact, appointed to represent. That is not leadership, that is being a coward. As a current student at the college I can tell you that myself and many other fellow students have been disappointed with how Kelly has handled some issues on campus because he doesn't listen to anybody except himself. Kelly thinks that Kelly knows best, just ask him. In my opinion Kelly has to realize that he has ostracized the majority of the alumni and current students on campus in an attempt to console peoples points of view that he wasn't hired to represent. He has come to hold a job in an area that he had no ties to and has imposed an outsiders view of how a campus should be run that doesn't match up with the people's point of view that he works for. If he keeps on the track that he is currently going, he is going to find himself out of a job sooner rather than later.
  2. I agree with this. As of right now we are going to have to get rid of it. If they (Spirit Lake) takes the NCAA to federal court and it gets restored then I'm all for it. But lets not count our chickens before they hatch and end up having our invite revoked and lose our name.
  3. Kelly is a tool. He gets way to butt hurt over nothing if you ask me. UND has always been known as a party school, does he really think not showing a grandma with a beer is gonna change that?
  4. I miss Frattin and Malone
  5. I think the macmillan kid looks like he can play. Looks quick and has made a few nice plays to set up shots.

    Uniforms

Hope they go with black home jerseys with green and white trim
  7. Haha I don't blame you, just look at my name. My pride for my state forced me to cheer for them. That, and my intense hate for the Gophers.
  8. I'm with you guys. I was cheering for NDSU simply because they are from Nodak, but my god UM is awful.
  9. Prove it? Well, for starters we can say that the members of the tribe signed a petition to allow a vote on the issue. Remember, it was the same petition that the tribal council threw to the side like a piece of trash. Does that constitute as proof in your eyes?
  10. Michigan's uniforms were the best of all the new ones.
  11. I still can't believe he didn't try to get anymore points before half. 3 timeouts gives you a chance to at least get a field goal. Things like that are simply not acceptable.
  12. Lake's birth certificate is an apology letter from the abortion clinic.......that is all
  13. Again, I don't think anyone is saying lets just wake up in the mourning and put shovels in the ground. My point is that if the school hasn't already started to put money aside for one it is an absolute shame. Fact of the matter is that 95% of the recruits that we need to be national contenders have never even heard of Grand Forks and have no interest in coming up to North Dakota. You have to give them a reason to want to come here. It doesn't matter if the Alerus is better then Memorial. If you have a car that doesn't run, you can buy an 85 pinto that does. Ya you upgraded, but you still drive a piece of crap.
  14. Attendance from Memorial compared to the Alerus is totally irrelevant to anything. You comparing a stadium and attendance numbers that have no meaning. The city has grown, the school has grown, the football program has grown, and most of all expectations have grown. The Alerus isn't a piece of crap, and I'm not trying to say it is. I'm saying if UND wants its football program to be at an elite status in the FCS, the Alerus doesn't cut it. Im saying schools down south have a distinct advantage when it comes to recruiting. Recruits don't hear "come to UND" and think I have to be there. The program has to have a legitimate reason for recruits to come here. Facilities, in my opinion, are the one thing UND can do to set themselves apart for other FCS schools. The Alerus might be an ok facility. But is ok good enough at this level? I just think if you want to be an elite program, then you have to give recruits a reason to think you are an elite program. The Ralph took UND hockey recruiting to a new level. It also took attendance and revenue to a new level. Do you not think a new stadium would do the same for the football program? If you build it they will come. I'm not saying they need to build a new stadium in the next 5 years. But it would be a damn shame if they haven't already started setting money aside to build one in the next 10, 15, 20 years. I would expect some of the 50 some thousand dollars I've spent on the school to go to something like that.
  15. Exactly. You can't turn chicken poop into chicken soup. Just because some school in Louisiana has a crappy stadium doesn't mean that we should settle on a little less crappy of a stadium. I just don't see the logic in that. You can look at other schools and point out how crappy their facilities are but how does that justify us having a crappy stadium? And for those of you who don't think the Alerus is a poor venue for UND football, you are outnumbered. By a lot. Last Thursday we were tailgaiting at the game with about 20 people. We started talking about the Alerus and every single one of them thought the Alerus stinks to watch a game in.
  16. So basically what some people are saying is ya our stadium sucks, but their stadium sucks worse so we don't need a new stadium? Personally, I think if the football program wants to really be a contender then recruits have to have a reason to come here. Its no different then opportunity cost in business. What we lack in things such as weather has to be made up in different areas. If that means improving our facilities to set us apart then so be it. You have to make the opportunity of playing at UND greater than some of the other schools we will compete against or the recruits we need will never come.
  17. Give it a few more years and the game will be played at least every other year. I think that if UND struggles this year then Mussman gets the boot. The next coach will come in and I say 3-4 years down the road the first game will be played. That would be a good thing for UND. Right now UND is not on the same level as NDSU. Nor should we be. The new practice facility will be built within the next year or two which will give UND a big recruiting boost. 3-4 years from now with more talented recruits coming in and more time to set our feet in D-1 football; I see the continuation of a very long and competitive rivalry. Honestly, in my opinion, NDSU would be better served to restart the rivalry than UND. If I'm NDSU I wanna put a beatdown on UND as soon as I can. If they wait and UND ends up winning then a power shift might once again tip in UND's favor.

Anyone who watched Marcus Hendrickson's pathetic performance against Montana last year agrees.

I'm still wondering why we still use the old baggy jersey design. Uniforms are some of the least of my worries but there are high school teams that have better and higher quality uniforms than we do. Just looking at Hardin swimming in his uniform looks kinda bush league if you ask me. In the words of the great Deion Sanders. "You gotta look good. Look good, play good. Play good, pay good. Pay good, live good. Live good, you gonna eat good. Die good."

I think the defense played decent enough. Still need to be more aggressive imo. I'm also beginning to become very frustrated with the offense Mussman wants to run. Its just so vanilla. And don't say its only the first game cause thats exactly how it was last year. UND needs to start being more aggressive. Your not gonna beat anyone in the Big Sky playing run and dump football. Spread the field vertically and open up the underneath stuff more and try to get that 8th man out of the box. And for god sake Mussman stop pulling your freshman's redshirts if all your gonna do is have them watch from the sidelines.

It definitely wasn't empty. I was at the game till half and I can tell you that there was more students at the game than I ever remember there being last year.
  22. Heard from someone reliable within the team that its looking like Bradley. We shall find out for sure soon.
  23. Personally, I hate the Alerus. A retractable roof stadium would be the ultimate prize for the school right now, although that might be a pipe dream. No matter if they build an indoor or outdoor stadium, attendance will at least double in my opinion. UND would have facilities second to none at the FCS level and even better than the majority or FBS teams. That helps sign better recruits, which makes a better team, which creates more interest from fans. I think a new stadium easily sells out anywhere from 13,000 to 20,000 a game. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to be able to fill a 20,000-25,000 seat stadium if a team like NDSU or Montana is in town. Football might always take a back seat to hockey, but if UND is fighting for championships they will have no problems finding fan support. If you build it, they will come. Just ask Kevin Costner.
  24. I drove by the site today and noticed that the utility companies have marked out their lines but no work has started. I imagine the first thing that will happen is the old ralph getting torn down. I was thinking though if they really want to start building the actual facility they would have to tear down memorial stadium so would the football team get kicked over to practice in the alerus?
