Just wondering, but I had heard that the EERC wanted some of the land after the old REA gets torn down. My question is for what? Are they planning on another addition or something?

Has anyone heard if UND has plans for more expansion? Eventually, with the increasing enrollment over the last few years, isn't the school going to need to build another dorm? I know that some company from Carolina is planning to build some more off campus student housing just north of the Alerus but you would think another dorm may be needed in the near future if there is continued growth from incoming freshman.

A little birdie told me that the new football jerseys should be in within the next week or so. I was told all black with green numbers and green trim. I didn't get any specifics but was told that they look sharp.

I had heard something that he was coming back from someone within the program but I didn't want to spout something off and then have it not come true. But since it appears what I was told was true I suppose I can mention the other half of the convo. I am NOT trying to start any rumors about our guys but the same person that told me about a week ago that Kristo was staying, also told me that the team (players) was not very happy with Nelson's decision to take off. Something about they all thought it was agreed upon that everyone was staying to try and win it all next year and next thing you know Nelson up and left. Again, not trying to bad mouth Nelson, met the kid a few times and he seems like a really good guy. I just really think this time next year Nelson will look back and think leaving was one of the worst decisions he made.

I agree. I'm happy that we got the new turf especialy if its true that we got an updated version of turf that is actually better. However, if they are going to spend money like that on it I would just have preferred them to do the project right the first time. The size and location of the Alerus logos are tacky at best and really are an eyesore on what could be a beutiful field.

I just think Macmillian-Grimaldi-Parks would be a dynamic pairing. All three have speed. They all can score at any point they are on the ice. They might not be the biggest guys on the ice but they will all get after it in the defensive zone. I really think if our first line comes back and with this line we would have the best 1-2 line combos that we have had in a long time. Throw in above average 3rd and 4th lines with talent throughout the dcorps and we should expect big things.

I would want something like summy said with two changes Nelson-Knight-Kristo MacMillan-Grimaldi-Parks O'Donnell-Rowney-Rodwell St. Clair-Pattyn-Koules Forbort-MacWilliam Simpson-Schmaltz Mattson-Panzarella If our top line comes back it could be the top line in the conference. MacMillian makes plays and showed that he can be a consistent point getter. I think Parks is going to absolutely explode next year. He was awesome this year and I would only expect improvement come next season. Throw Grimaldi, who is potentially the most talented of the three, in the middle and we have 2 lines that could be deadly. The 3rd and 4th lines have a good mix of talent, grit, and nastiness. Rowney showed major improvement since last year and is better than your average 3rd liner. Then you have Pattyn. He might be my favorite player on the team. Just a tough, hardnosed hockey player. I imagine we lose him for a game at some point next season for a fight. D-Corps will be super talented. If Jones comes it will be unfair. Depending on how the draft falls and whether or not Jones comes we could have 3 1st round picks in the d corps. Add in MacWilliam, Mattson, and one of Simpson, Gleason, or Panzarella. With or without Jones that is still a very good groups of dmen. I know that is a lot of ifs but it could be a year with some very high expectations. I'm praying the hockey gods throw us a bone after what we had to go through this season and we catch a few breaks regarding any departures this offseason.

I agree. I am not a fan of how the NCAA sets up the postseason.

Next goal between UM and BU is going to win. I just have a feeling if BU ties it up Minnesota is gonna fold again.

Talked to some of the hockey players today. They didn't show me a picture but from the sounds of it they are similar to the women's new jerseys. Also, for those concerns about the jerseys being a distraction for the team I wouldn't worry. They sounded like they couldn't have cared less other than the obvious disappointment of not having the Sioux logo.

I just think that his skill level is not on par with other players on the team but I do have to concede one point to fargo sioux, Mario is an excellent penalty killer there is no debating that.

Pattyn is a better player than Mario is right now without question. I love how he plays. Tough, physical, in your face. Personally, I think Mario is one of the worst players on the team skill wise. As far as Jones goes, if he comes here you deal with a log jam in the dcorps. Its one of those good problems to have. We had the same problem last year and it worked out pretty well for us. Many teams would love to have 2 dmen that are considered studs. We could have 4 or 5 with Jones.

I dont agree with that. No doubt the guy is talented but the NHL isn't looking for a whole lot of 5'6 players. I can only think of one player that short off the top of my head and that is St. Louis and Grimaldi will more than likely never end up being at St. Louis' level. He will have to show that he even has the talent to consistently be successful here before we have to worry about him not being here 4 years. I have no doubt that they will attempt to get him a medical redshirt, its just a matter if they have already sent in the appeal or not.

Did Grimaldi get a medical redshirt?

Does anyone know what type of renovations will be done to the hyslop? Are they turning it into class rooms or are they keeping it as an athletic building? I've heard they were renovating the building but I didn't hear anything specific as far as what it is going to be used for.

They really need to get the new athletic facility going. Something like that would bring a huge boost in recruiting for the forseeable future.

You gotta spend money to make money. If you build it (a good schedule) they will come. Until then, nobody is gonna fork out money and time to watch teams that nobody has ever heard of. Better schedule means better recruits. Better recruits means a better team. A better team means more wins. More wins means more money and more publicity. Its no different than any other business. If you put a good product on the field people will pay to see it. Putting a half broken product on the field (NAIA teams) will not get you a thing.

Biggest thing you can do right away is somehow get games against teams like dakota pointed out. Why? Because those games are televised to a wider audience. Get the schools name out there. Maybe win a few of the games or at least make them good games and prospects will start to hear about the school. Better recruits means a better team, better team means more money and the circle goes on.
