Odd that prior to the end of the game I checked this thread and only 1 person had voted for DU. We know that person was Diggler.
Now there are 5 votes for DU. PCM was one cheater. Who were the rest?
Had to go back a ways, but wanted it in the right thread.
So all these conference tourneys and take a guess as to what hockey games ESPN showed top plays from.
Hint: Both nights included the same team.
My best guess using 3-2-1:
Worcester
#1 BC vs. #16 Mercyhurst
#8 UNH vs. #9 Harvard
Amherst
#2 CC vs. #15 BSU
#7 UND vs. #10 OSU
Grand Rapids
#3 DU vs. #14 Colgate
#6 Mich. vs. #11 UW
Minneapolis
#4 Minnesota vs. #13 Maine
#5 Cornell vs. #12 BU
I don't see any probs with the first round, and I think holding the opening rounds seeds is more important than the next round match-ups. Going straight through also keeps Mich in Mich and I picked BC to be closer to home.
The only thing I don't like is us being in Amherst on the big ice sheet.
With a minute and a half left in the CC/DU game, the refs missed another big one. Slaatengren for CC elbowed a DU player to the head against the boards and bloodied him. No call.
Do you suppose they'd send us and CC to Grand Rapids and send Mich. out east?
I don't want to get stuck playing in Minny or Amherst, because they both have the big sheet of ice and I think CC will be very hard to beat on that. Or, it'll be tough for us to play on that against anyone. We don't have the speed we used to and will probably be missing Murray.
That's what I get no matter the outcome of the CC/DU game. It also looks like we'll be in CC's bracket and DU will be with Minny. That is if the committee goes strictly by the PWR.
BC won 3-1
UM won 3-2
INTERESTING STAT
All tourney title games were between #1 and #2.
UM, BC, BSU all won as #1's with DU and Cornell also leading.
The only #2 to win so far is Mercyhurst.
Kind of a weird stat when there has been talk about parity in various conferences.
I suggested forfeiting earlier in protest of the reffing. Nothing is going to change in this league until some coach/school/team makes a dramatic statement.
We can turn the Michigan comparison if they lose. Then if BC, and Cornell win we'd be #6 overall.
It really varies on who would be in our bracket due to bonus and the CC/DU game.
If DU wins, we could be in their bracket. But I just can't bring myself to cheer for them.
Also want to give a congrats on this internet radio thing. Neat invention. Glad to hear that it can work.
Unfortunately it was so far behind my dish I had to listen to Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dumbest.
I wasn't expecting much today and was quite pessimistic about this game, but I am very proud of this team.
Great job on the victory guys!
Now lets keep those sticks on the ice next week.
