  1. The only 2 d-men returning that I think have guaranteed spots in the lineup are Simpson and Schmaltz Ausmus, Thompson, LaDue, Mattson, Panzo, Stecher...6 guys, 4 regular spots
  2. I hear ya, but there wasn't a heckuva lot being demonstrated pre-break either. Not going to pummel an alumnus, but he was a fairly big-time prospect that just didn't pan out.
  3. They used to raid parties all the time- I got caught once- one outta hundred ain't bad. I never got one in college.
  4. Krevitz's, grimly gravel pits, skank in the woods- we had fun- sometimes citations, sometimes not. I got one post season junior year in 1993- got six weeks suspension from athletics in April and May- didn't mean much for a football and hockey player
  5. Not to be a jerk, and good for Derek to pursue higher Ed, but IMO he is one of the biggest disappoints n the ice we've seen- not much for us, about the same in ECHL...sorry
  6. I understand just NA players, was wondering about Europe- sounds like 7 or o is consensus by the experts
  7. So, is that 2 likely second rounders and a 4th rounder?
  8. agree that the team isn't helping his cause. I have little doubt he will have a successful NHL career. I think as physically ready as he is for the NHL, the tough transition (even with a bad team) shows how good they are at the next level. When you think about all the talented players that we have seen play in the WCHA over the last decade, it is amazing to see the relatively few who really are able to step in and produce right away. Especially at 20. Zach Parise had his first stand out year at 22 Toews was a freak and did at 19 Vanek 21
  9. Bjugstad with 9 games in the show 0 points and a minus 7...rather tough start for the young man.
  10. I know...it would've been nice to spread that over two in order to get a tax break
  11. And according to salary cap records, he got a rookie max deal that summer...pretty tough to turn down. He played half the season in the show this year too... max signing bonus with Rangers ($275k) and a year in the OHL for 2011-2012 $70k for half a year playing in the AHL and $833k for half a year playing in the NHL ($925k less $92K signing) so $452k Total comp last two years ballpark $725k alternatively he could've been living the dream in GF and being a kid for a couple years
  12. Love that Tambellini scored the championship winner in 2OT- #can't coach clutch
  13. How dare you bench me, I was in the NHL three months ago! He is still CHL eligible, so next year will be interesting if NJ doesn't keep him in the NHL out of camp. In most situations if you're junior eligible you have to go back to the CHL and cannot be assigned to the AHL. If he is "released" then his rights are open, which means he probably could go to the AHL-I'm assuming... Doubtful that the Devils will want him after this stunt, but maybe he can redeem himself somehow. He is a young man. As Fratty showed us, young men can make hard decisions and come back better for it- both as hockey players and as people.
  14. Player development is interesting...I didn't see who they had Anders skating with, but it seems likely that he can play more roles with his strength. Brock is clearly a goal scorer, top 6- probably won't ever see ice as a role player. Anders can play any role on any line.
  15. You need a shut down pairing- we didn't have that. You also need a PP QB with a cannon- we didn't have that either... Imagine this dream college d-corps from last year: Trouba and Jensen Schmidt and DeKeyser Johns and Mac
  16. Racism is veiled in many forms- hell, many of us who are repulsed by say the KKK are guilty of telling or laughing at racist jokes...the first step in ending it is to be aware of it in all forms- malignant as well as relatively benign. Racism disguised as religion has caused more pain and suffering than ny other single idea the world has ever discovered. It gives the low information people peace to label these killers as "chechyan" and "Islamist extremists" rather than simply young men living in America. Make them someone that identifies differently than you or your neighbor and you can go along living in a bubble. These labels fuel racism and intolerance. Hate knows no cultural nor ethnic boundaries. World war three is being fought between good people and evil people. It is impossible to group them by class, race or geography
  17. People are people, and thoseo who hate to the point of mass murder are just criminals- white, black,Arab,Asian,Indian, good people of the world are united....wel all want to suppor5 prosperity and peace. My 2 1/2 year old justo called a Muslim, an Asian, and a white kid his "brothers" at daycare- one sego of parents upon hearing this cried. We are la nation of immigrants, and goodness pal ways triumphs.. God bless all good people of this world
  18. The NHL IS the best league in the world- where the most talented play. To say otherwise is obtuse. If you are getting at the other leagues not being "nothing" to quote the other poster, then I agree with you that they are more than "nothing". NHL is where the most talented play. Then probably KHL, then probably a tie between the AHL and certain European Elite leagues- difference being where you are in your career...
  19. MIke Eaves 1977 as player, 2006 as coach
  20. We have not had good luck with first round dmen period. I was very disappointed with him for most of the year, but felt he got decent towards the end. Our D was not good last year...its crazy to think they'd be strength...
  21. None of our coaches have rings as players or coaches (other than Goerhing-goaltenders- not a full-time gig) Minnesota yup Wisconsin yup UMD yup SCSU yup DU yup UNO yup
  22. I'd actually say lettering in four sports is very hard- impossible if one is hockey.
  23. Paul Coffey- still the best skater I have ever seen. Sergei Fedorov not far behind. But agree that Rocco is an excellent skater.
