  1. Any rule that says we need to go after a UND hockey alum? DU seems to do alright bringing in non-DU guys. Mannino to me seems intriguing, if especially if what someone on this board said about him being a great recruiter.
  2. Until fans return, then they’ll raise ticket prices back up. Supply and demand.
  3. Yep, I mentioned that in my post. I meant that he lost his head coaching position when they elevated to the AHL.
  4. I think bringing in a guy with bonafide experience and success in the broomball league like @MafiaMan is the route the team should go. @MafiaMan‘s broomball team had the #1 powerplay in the entire metro twin cities area!
  5. He was awfully successful with the Colorado Eagles, winning back-to-back Kelly Cup championships. Why he wasn’t retained once the Eagles were elevated to the AHL is beyond me but I guess he’s an assistant there.
  6. Peter Mannino left Omaha last summer to go to Miami and now he’s out of a job?
  7. That sounds like a classic 1970’s or early 80’s hockey name! I think the Sioux had a player in the early 80’s by the last name of Chadwick. Paul Chadwick maybe?
  8. I’ll never forget DU goaltender Sinuhe Wallinheimo from the mid-90’s. He had most! I remember him skating out to center ice at the WCHA Final Five and staring down the opposing goaltender. Fun times.
  9. To quote the coach of the Hamilton Mustangs, “they (the Avs) could’ve skated around with a carton of eggs and not broken any.”
  10. I went to the Avs game tonight and Makar looked very comfortable out there on the ice. It helped that the coaches put him in some safe, comfortable positions. He made a lot of safe plays, didn’t get himself caught out of position, kept his shifts very short, and yes-he even managed to score his first NHL goal proving that Duluth has a better defense than Calgary!
  11. I believe UND was the third heaviest team in the nation so by that, I gather we were also one of the slower teams as well. Will we get back to having smurf-like players (think 1997 team) with a few big bruisers mixed in (Commodore). We were also one of the more penalized teams in the conference (a result of our bigger, slower players, perhaps?). I think we need to get smaller and faster.
  12. https://www.uscho.com/2019/04/13/too-soon-to-determine-cause-of-low-frozen-four-attendance-ncaa-says/?fbclid=IwAR3_YHES1djo5TowQ71znB0Mh86d-HkzSGYVj_C2VJ478anOUMB8On8EAgw
  13. Given what they’ve lost, probably not. Next year they might move back down the standings again. But I digress. Congrats Duluth. Does anybody here recall UMass getting one good look at the net tonight? I sure don’t.
  14. Actually, you forgot two... Does Mike Haviland get out of his own way and get the Tigers to the national tournament?
  15. You forgot one.... Does St. Cloud figure out how to get out of the first round of the national tournament next year?
  16. Sandy gets hired by an NHL team and Duluth promotes Jason Herter.
  17. Did Sandelin throw his name in the hat?
  18. Dave Starman with some love just now for North Dakota next season.
  19. I’d have to say yes. The results don’t lie. Not just the nattys but the quality of the players head to head. Duluth simply recruiting better, tougher stronger players.
  20. Duluth is making this game just like last year’s. That was a boring ass game, they totally stifled Notre Dame and they’re basically doing the same exact thing tonight.
  21. I knew we wouldn’t get through this game without hearing Buchi say, “twisted wrister.”
  22. Looks like Wolff took the brunt of that hit on Makar.
  23. I hadn’t seen an elbow dropped like that since the American Dream Dusty Rhodes!
  24. He is serious, and don’t ever call him Shirley!
