I concur, David Hoogsteens are great players
-
I think that Florida will have to give him a shot sometime this year.

I couldn't believe how they have had such a good basketball team, but such low ticket sales. Really doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

This game will be a muck and grind type game. It will be ugly, but hopefully a better outcome for the Sioux this year.
-
I think that would be pretty funny.

I have been hearing this rumor from a Metro alum for a while now, just really didn't believe him. This is a very interesting development and must be a wake up call for a lot of colleges and universities.
-
I laughed when they said it could cause a decline in enrollment. That is laughable. I'm so sick of the NCAA thinking they know the pulse of what students and the public's perception of such monikers are. They are so far out of touch with the real world and what goes on, that they always seem to make decisions that go against public opinion.

There once was a Sioux hockey show, but it was a long time ago.

It was kind of a suprise to see him sent down to begin the season. I hope he can continue to progress and make his spot permanent.

looks like the SSM pipeline to UND will continue.
-
It will be interesting to see how this issues plays out over the next 10 years, which happens to be the length of the accredidation awarded to UND. You never know what kind of things will play out over the next decade.

INCH's WCHA notebook disses Grand Forks
CoteauRinkRat replied to CoteauRinkRat's topic in Men's Hockey
I emailed the writer of the article on INCH, Jess Myers. He said that it isn't fair to compare Grand Forks to Minneapolis because Minneapolis has professional sports teams who take away from Gopher hockey. so if they don't fill the arena in Minneapolis it is okay and understandable. I almost fell off my chair. I guess it is all right to give a pass to the gophers on attendance as well. From here on out, I will refer to INCH as "The College Hockey Enquirer", because their website has about as much fact and unbiased opinions on there as the real enquirer does. -
PCM Don't want you to date yourself if you don't want to, but was this in the late 60's, early 70's? Before the federal government mandated all states bring their drinking age up to 21 or risk losing federal funding for certain programs. I'm also thinking you might have maybe been in South Dakota which, if my memory serves me, was one of the final if not the last state to bring their drinking age up to 21.

Only in this country can you be old enough to go to war and die, but damned if you consume an alcoholic beverage before the age of 21.

INCH's WCHA notebook disses Grand Forks

redwing77 good point, but Grand Forks is only 50,000 people, so people are going to get tired of a band in this market if they keep playing here so often, regardless of whether they are good or not. -

airmail I heard that same thing. It will be the 3rd or 4th time Aerosmith has played in the RRV in the last couple of years. Why I bring that up is, if in fact this big promoter said this, will the Alerus crumble to their strong arm tactics in the future? Especially for an act that the RRV has seen perform or had the opportunity to see perform a couple of times already. That is why i really don't buy that argument. -

kr Great Point!!! I had some friends who went to the Central/West Fargo game because they wanted to. They have four season tickets and gave them away, but only two were used. When a big high school football game is being played in a town of 50,000 people, it will take away from attendance. -
19-21 were foggy for me, thanks for letting me know I probably was in college during that time frame.

I'm still trying to figure out why the Alerus would schedule a concert during that weekend? It would be different if the concert was in the afternoon, but it is at 7. Since it is Sioux/Gophers, nothing will detract from that game. It could have been a different story if the game was against someone else like Yale. -
Power play will definitely come around. Thanks PCM

Why do you NDSU fans even care about our feelings on which conference you should/can/will go to? You come on here to argue, nothing more.

Aerosmith-Kiss concert is comparable to a Sioux/Bison game? The reason why I included saturday night's game into my argument was because I emailed INCH and they responded with the fact that it was sad that BC was in town and we couldn't fill the building for either game. You don't want to argue, but you are the one who started the argument. I guess over 20% of Grand Forks' population in attendance for the games doesn't matter to you or INCH. -

Do you understand the Sioux/Bison game? obviously not. Sioux hockey takes a backseat to that game every year. Regardless of what games are in town, mostly everyone is talking/thinking/sleeping/eating the Sioux/Bison game. If we are playing the gophers, the focus would be split, but not BC. I find it amusing that INCH hand's down a bench minor for Grand Forks for not filling 500 seats, but there are big games played throughout the country in front of 3/4 full buildings, in town's ten times as big as Grand Forks.
