  1. I know he is referrring to student season tickets, but i'm saying that season tickets to the public have a priority system, but I guess the students must not be good enough for this kind of set up.
  2. A source in the Minot State Athletic department told me off the record, Brandt and Johnson didn't like all the committment and seriousness surrounding the Sioux. They didn't like all the required offseason workouts (practices) and social functions they had to attend. Attended a Holiday tournament a couple years ago at the Dome in Minot. At tipoff for the noon game between MSU and Black Hills State, there were maybe 50 people there, and that included the scorekeepers and announcers. It was the weirdest thing ever. I'm not dissing MSU or their fans here because I remember from the 80s when they had powerhouse teams and packed the dome, but Brandt and Johnson go from playing in front of a lot of huge crowds to an atmosphere like that. Kind of funny when you think of it. Good Luck to them, just too bad they couldn't be men and actually say why they were leaving.
  3. I love how just because UND has hockey, that makes it a target for NDSU and SDSU fans. I don't want to argue anymore about this stuff and I'll also agree to disagree. We have two D1 programs in hockey, one that has a long and successful tradition. We don't see the need right now to move up. If we do in the future, then so be it, i'll support them either way. SDSU and NDSU does not have a D 1 program, they want more prestige and a chance at the national spotlight, more power to them and good luck. "Yes your Hockey Program competes at the highest level but that by itself does not make UND a DI program. " I don't go around saying our school is D 1, but yes our hockey team is. I apologize that we are D 1 and i'll try to remember to be ashamed to tell people that from NDSU and SDSU because they might jump down my throat and tell me that doesn't make UND a D1 program. I don't understand why all the negativity towards this issue. Because UND isn't going, you have to come in here and bash us? If we do decide to go, you will bash us again and call us a bunch of coat-tail riders. It was a bold decision you guys made and I applaud you for it. It is almost like there are a lot of people who don't really want to go, but to make themselves feel better about the decision, they have to be negative and criticize other schools for not going. Insecurity always leads to those kinds of actions.
  4. What are some predictions for the record this year?
  5. My thoughts on this are that season ticket holders who previously held tickets for Sioux hockey were given and are given priority points, so when they moved into the new building they had priority over new season ticket holders. This kind of set up isn't good enough for the students I guess.
  6. As a NDSU follower, having to move all the programs up to the D1 level is why I'm still against the decision to go. Football will probably be competitive after a couple years, but the men's and women's basketball programs, and all other programs will suffer greatly. Makes me wonder if the NCAA has ever made any good moves or decisions. There are plenty of programs like NDSU and UND where they would be better off if they could just move their football programs up to D 1 AA and leave everything else as is. The NCAA has never and will never side with what makes the most sense to the coaches, players, and the fans.
  7. Was wondering if anyone else checked out some of the other team's Top 20 rankings? What are your thoughts if you did.
  8. Jason Blake - 172 points in three seasons. I have to throw his name out there because he was so exciting of a player. You never knew what he was going to do on the ice at any given time, before, during, or after the game. His explosiveness and moves in the offensive end were breathtaking at times. His 172 could have easily been 200 at UND if he would have converted on half the break-aways he had during his career in the green and white. I think he has to be the career leader in 1 on 1 breakaways. A lot of that having to do with him not knowing the definition of "defensive awareness." He definitely has proved he is a two way player now in the pros. Have we as a team had more than five breakaways as a team over the past couple of seasons? Remember when odd man rushes, 2 on 1's, 3 on 1's were the norm for the Sioux?
  9. Since they are a canadian team, I do not believe they use the same classifications as we do for our college programs.
  10. I couldn't agree with you more. I feel the same exact way on these issues as you do. Glad to see other Sioux Fans share the same opinion as mine. The media, especially the Herald, would like people to think that the whole university is in favor of the name change. It really amazes me that five people can show up at a demonstration against the name and the herald will actually send someone to cover it every time. I use to be a big advertiser with the Herald, up until they wrote those ridiculous editorials the week of the opening of the REA, in favor of the name change. Praying that Roger Ailes or somebody at Fox News Channel will take over some of the local media outlets around here. Enough of my little tangent here, Go Fighting Sioux!!!!
  11. I was told they go on sale Sept. 1.
  12. I thought that this forum was a place where anyone could come and voice their opinions on matters involving the Fighting Sioux. I agree that students should feel privileged to watch hockey at the REA and should feel lucky that tickets prices are very cheap for them. I feel that this is a great place for students to come and vent their frustrations toward certain policies and procedures that the University and REA implements. If it wasn't for this forum, I would not have clue how students were feeling on certain issues. I don't get the chance to talk to students about their ideas very often, so this place allows me to get a grip on some of their concerns. As a former student and now Alumni, I welcome the comments from students and look forward to hearing from them in the future.
