Because they can. He is right, they don't NEED us. But they will obviously enjoy the extra cash. They also don't NEED Incarnate Word, but they still played them.
-
Yep, there is one in every crowd. I know our fan base has them too, as do the goofers and every other team. My in-laws are big Bison fans, so I find myself watching enough games, that i somewhat pull for them in their championship games. Guys like Bison Dan here that make me regret that.

Settle down man, nobody has denied the success that NDSU has had, or has insinuated (use a dictionary for this) that UND has had great success. BUT for all the whining about how UND would be wasted space on the Bison's schedule, NDSU has play some pretty crappy teams too (Incarnate Word?), aside from the talent, there is clearly money to be made in UND and NDSU playing, as dictated by NDSU's prices. Not to mention a great football atmosphere, in the game, at tailgating, at the bars. Can you imagine if NDSU had played UND last season on college gameday? You guys already have a tremendous showing of fans in downtown Fargo, but a good part of the city of Grand Forks would have been there too. I know I would have come up from Minneapolis for it (I almost did anyway). What a great environment. I won't disagree with you that it was UND that started the issue by refusing to play NDSU right away after the Bison made the jump. Though I think the bigger error on UND's part was not making the jump at the same time. Regardless, that was a long time ago and it is time to move forward.Getting this rivalry going again makes so much sense for both schools, especially financially, but even more so ... It is fun! As fun as it will be to watch the game played in Fargo, I am sure TONS of Bison fans would travel to GF. Again, great tailgating with that many people, great football environment, and financial reward.
-
Having established tailgating certainly helps them. A lot of people would continue going just for that. Besided I don't think this is something that NDSU will have to worry about for a while.

All I'm saying is the better team does not always win. We outplayed BU and lost. We outplayed the Goofs last season and lost. That happens in hockey, you will notice the last 3 seasons NO power school has won. Last 3 champs are Yale, Union and Providence. Why? Because once you get in the tournament, anyone can win ... regardless of how they look on paper.
-
You are a moron, despite the score they outperformed BU. They were the better team. BUT being the better team doesn't always win you the hockey game. Puck lucK, hot goalies, etc. A team can play well and lose, we have seen it before.
-
Well put, and Blasi is a great coach despite his number of "Natty's". That being said, i'd still take Hak.
-
Fine, I will alter his analogy Marino or Dilfer
-
Exactly, all on the Providence coach. The comeback had ZERO to do with the BU goalie scoring on himself. That was a complete not factor. All about the boys being prepared.
-
bahahaha
-
Don't forget Marino sucks too

Put Dean or Gino in the exact same Frozen Four games that Hak has been in, and I am betting we still have 7 titles. Some of those games we were just outplayed; BC usually got the best of us, because they were dominating teams. They were just better. Some games have no explanation, that is just the way the sport is. We outplayed BU and lost, and that is the coach's fault. Had we showed up like Lucia's Goofers did and played completely flat and uninspired in the first game of the tourney, I would have been a little more upset.
-
So it makes more sense to choose a coach based on 1 season of succes, rather than 11? Now you are making sense.
-
Right, but who fills his spot if Hak gets fired. The argument is pointless, unless you have someone who is going to produce better. And to this point, I have not heard any names.
-
Its hockey and its played on ice not on paper. You're still going to go get the best players you can. Ask Minnesota about losing to Union last year; who do you think had more draft picks. Same case when Yale won it. Does the #1 NHL team win the cup every year? Our loss in the tourney to Michigan was the perfect example. We came out of that regional winning games 6-0 and 6-1. Far and away the best team in the tourney on paper, and to that point the best team on the ice. Hockey doesn't always reward the best team, and the outcome doesn't always reflect the play. We have won games this year where we were probably not the better team out there, and against Boston we had the better play. In a full season with this many games, and a tourney that is 1 and done, anyone who gets in has a chance to win. Thats just the way it is. Do you think Boston losing means they should fire their coach? Do you Deano should be fired, because he lost in the Semis? No because it happens. The only reason people can complain about Hak losing so many Frozen Fours, is because he has gotten us to that many Frozen Fours. Which is more than just about anyone else out there.
-
For all of the haters, if you want to replace Hakstol. Name a better coach? There are very few names that would put up the type of numbers he has. And I'm sick of the whining about Sandelin having a championship, because if you put the two coaches resumes next to each other, I'll still take Hak's consistency. Though that is not a knock and Sandy, I think he is a solid coach. But every year it is the same sorry whiners, who can't get over the fact that the team lost. Find me one credible player, scout, reporter who thinks that Hakstol should be fired based on his performance .... nope you can't, just the same sad whiny fans as last year.
-
Exactly, Union has a title in the last 10 years; NoDak does not. Well, Mr Boeser, where would you like to play?
-
So yes we have been terrible in the Frozen Four, and we have also got to watch out team play in more Frozen Fours than most teams. I want a championship as much as the next guy, but I'll take being in the mix every single year, over some of these teams that win one, and then don't even make the tourney the next year. No thanks, I like have a progam that is consistently at the top to watch week in and week out all winter.
-
You mean BC

Our boys game to play. Outplayed BU the majority of the game. Not blaming the game on Zane, because there are other areas we could have made up the difference BUT if the Zane that we have watched all year played against BU. we would have won. Losing that game had nothing to do with out team not showing up. Almost more frustrating to watch them lose, because they appeared to be playing the better game.
-
You want to see fast, watch Mighty Ducks 2, Luis Mendoza. That kid can fly.
-
I saw that video yesterday. Pretty awesome stuff.
-
So where are we at with any of our own flight risks? Would be great to see Zano back. Schmaltz bros? Sounded like Ladue should stick around. Any chance we don't lose anyone?
-
Well, after some time to settle down, I'm disappointed but pretty over it. first period, we got outplayed and zane let in a softy. Second period we bounced right back and dominated play, but some how let in more soft goals. Third period was more of the same. Yes,there were some horrible calls. One of which led to a weak PP goal, but the loss has to go on the team not the refs. Our boys missed a few scoring chances and hit a fee pipes. That being said, our magic number this year has been 3 which we hit, and our Hobey caliber goalie just did not show up tonight. if the zane we have had all season plays,we probably win that game 5-2. Hak had the boys ready, just a bad night to be off your game in goal. Thanks to the senior, and hope the rest of the boys are back for redemption next season. Good year, bummer finish. GO SIOUX! and go providence I guess

Name someone who UND could hire that would have better numbers than Hak has. want a new coach? Fine. You need to have one availablE.
