With a newer coaching staff, and taking a nice step in the right direction last season, this upcoming season seem critical in recruiting. If we can take that next step, we might get a big boost in getting some of those guys who would otherwise be on the fence. Might be able to win a few more of those regional recruiting battles. Can't wait for the season to start.

Chappell was so much fun to watch when he played. Didnt he have grades issues though? He only played for a year or two right? Wish we could get another back like that.

Maybe, not sure. I just never like that setup. Seemed like a cheap solution to a pretty nice arena. Been a long time since I have been to a basketball game though.

I would like to see permanent bleachers built onto the ends of the basketball court. I always hated the ones that they put on each end. Build something up and make it more of a bowl feel.

I hear ya. Its a damn shame that we couldn't press the issue more, when we had time, to get the approval. And maybe there was nothing we could do to get the one tribe to allow a vote. Like I said a damn shame. I don't like the idea of a new name or nickname, but I think my biggest worry is that we will end up with something ridiculous. Maybe it will end up ok, but if we are the Fighting Green, for the Sun Dogs, I definitely won't buy any new apparel. Not to make a point, but because I would rather wear street clothes than don a stupid name or logo at a game.

I'll be cheering on the flickertails, but still probably wearing my sioux jersey. You might be able to get me to buy a flickertail hat, but I don't think anything will quite replace a Fighting Sioux jersey.

Frustrating, but this argument is already over.Sucks, but at this time next year we will either be the University of North Dakota or have another nickname following it. All I can say is keep wearing the Fighting Sioux logo proudly. I know I will regardless. Though if they do adopt a new nickname, the goal at this point should be to make it something that is not completely laughable.

Animals are way better than any sort of weather like Blizzard, Freeze, Thunder, Storm, etc.

Agreed, I was a huge gopher fan growing up. Huge. Then I saw then light when I went to UND; now I cannot stand their hockey program. I've finally found a middle ground where I tend to pull for them in football, and at least watch them in basketball. Wrestling too.

I'm not saying they should use this particular logo, but clearly they could come up with something that does not resemble Goldy at all. Although, we would hardly be able to throw dead gophers on ice at hockey games anymore.

no, but that doesn't mean you couldn't make something completely different. Alot of people didn't like the geometric Sioux logo, but when they made a different one it was pretty awesome. Not a huge fan of flickertails, but I like it better than the majority of the stuff on the list (Force, Blizzard, Big Green, Etc). I would not be opposed to roughriders either.

Ok, this is hilarious. but I have to say that while I prefer no nickname, If I had to choose one Flickertails is certainly not as bad as the majority of what is on that list. I'll take it over Storm, Force, Thunder, Big Green etc. At least with flickertails, they could come up with a pretty cool logo. That being said I'm all about no nickname. Also thought Nokota would a decent name, if need be.

Big Green - A Native American has wore the color green at some point in time. Flickertail - Likely killed by a Native American at some point in time. UND - Attended by Native Americans This isn't looking good.

Yeah, well the wild is a pretty indescript thing. My point is you can still have some sort of mascot, even if they do remain North Dakota. I'm just saying that if people are concerned about the marketing of the school and athletics purely based on nickname or lack there of, there are plenty of creative options. Options the school could spend plenty of money on if they were wasting so much on this current process.

Wasn't being facetious, just misspoke on the attendance number. I've never read one way or the other that he has or has not made visits; just hear on the message boards that he has. My point was, IF HE DID, you would think he would be pretty impressed by getting to play in our facilities and in front of such a large crowd every single night. I just don't think there is another college arena in the country that can match the Ralph when it is rockin.

Agreed, you can remain North Dakota, and still come up with some sort of mascot. Minnesota Wild have Nordy. Personally not a fan of either the name or the mascot, but the concept works.

They wouldn't be the University of North Dakota North Dakota; They would be the University of North Dakota. Could be the University of North Dakota NoDaks, if you really want another word there. This isn't rocket science, people who want North Dakota aren't looking for redundancy, they are looking to remain as we have for the past few seasons.
