Honestly, at this point. I don't even care about the process or how screwed up it is. The University will continue doing what they want. I think all integrity in the process, and any remaining faith by the voters is all but lost. At this point I'll just vote for who I want and when I'm told do. The end result will be what it will be. I still have my opinion on the name, but I'm getting pretty apathetic here. Go Sioux!! Go Nodaks! Go Roughriders

I'll agree with everyone in the camp of "this vote should be between 2 names, not 3. I also agree with those that say, the reason for including the third option is probably because the number of votes were so close between the 2nd and 3rd options, that there would have been an uproar from the Nodak group. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'm not saying changing the rules was right, but it happened. I do think that the school is, at least, right in ensuring that there is a 50% winner by utilizing a 3rd vote, rather than just using the results with the highest percentage in this vote.

I don't think anyone is arguing that the process, and the sudden change in the process is pretty ridiculous. But unless you actually have any control to change the process back to a runoff between the two names, then the "how" is very irrelevant at this point.

I'm not saying that switching the rules in the first place was the right thing to do. But by doing it this way, you are essentially taking the idea of doing this vote, then a final vote, and combining the results into one. It would be more efficient. For example I intend on voting Nodak. Though if there is a third vote, and Nodaks does not make it I would then vote roughriders. Rather than extending this process out, I could just make both votes at the same time, and the who process could be expedited. I think it would also ensure that the winner would actually get a majority win too. At least this is how I am understanding.

Thanks man! While I would never actually vote that way, I'm really trying to get down to your level of thinking. I think you really need to back off of people on these threads a bit ... all you're doing is criticizing everyone who doesn't vote the way you want them to. If that is the case, then what is the point of a voting system? I like Nodaks the best ... I don't need to justify why, but I will. I think it sounds the best of the 3. I think it is unique. I always like the idea of just North Dakota, and this is the most similar. Logo options are pretty limitless. If there is a 3rd vote (and Nodaks is not an option) then I'll vote roughriders. Also sounds good. Also unique. I could care less that it is the name of the local high school. Great logo possibilities (including the logo you have posted). BUT I don't like it as much as Nodaks. I don't like Fighting Hawks and I never have. It is boring, generic, unimaginative, the same as too many other schools, etc. If it wins, then so be it, but it won't be because of me. You can say a vote for Nodaks is a vote for Fighting Hawks ... I could say the same about Roughriders, considering both were close in total votes, and there are now a whole mix of Sundog and North Star voters in the mix. Bottom line ... You vote for what you want, and I'll vote for what I want.

If this goes to a third runoff, and Nodaks is not in it, then I will vote Roughriders. Though the thought is crossing my mind to completely vote against Roughriders, just to piss you off.

I'm not sure that is really the case. I've seen plenty of people in these forums that are fans of the Nodak name, that are still disgusted with him constantly changing the way is being done. I'm not a fan of what he is doing, but I'm still going to vote for the name I like best, which is Nodaks. If it goes to a second runoff (which it should, but probably won't), then I'll vote for whichever name IS NOT fighting hawks.

Pretty much, it started out really well, then went to complete dumpster fire. Not sure what was worse, Eversports Webcast or UND in the 4th quarter. I'll say UND was worse in the 4th. Then there was the Weber St game webcast. I'll say that Eversports was worse, because UND at least showed up for the first half, while Eversports just didn't broadcast.

I'm still going Nodaks. If there is a second runoff vote, then I will vote Nodaks 1st and Roughriders 2nd. Anything but Fighting Hawks

Good to hear. I like Studrud, and I'm not going to count him out going forward yet. I think he is certainly a dangerous run threat, but I would like to see a QB with more passing ability. Especially if we improve our receiving core. Sounds like Dulin could be a nice player next year if he fills out a bit, and that kid from Red Wing, MN is putting up some really big numbers. It'll be interesting to see if he plays or redshirts next year.

I my choice (Nodaks) won with 47%, I'd still be critical of the process and way this has been handled and changed, but I'd still be happy about the name. It really does looks like we will be stuck with Fighting Hawks though. Yuck.

Agreed, we don't need to burn more redshirts this year than we already have. As much as I wanted to see Iwarri this year, I don't think he has been used to a high enough degree to justify it. ANYWAY ... does anyone know much about Brad? Do we see him being a competent QB of the future? Does he have the skills to compete with Keaton next season, or is he 2-3 years away from playing? How is his mobility? Ultimately, do we see him contributing, or is the real answer at the QB position yet to commit to UND?

Completely agree. Initially, I thought "whatever, lets just vote and wrap this up" but as I though about it more that just doesn't make sense, as having two more vote could drastically change the outcome. Fighting Hawks are in the lead now and may be in the lead after this next vote, but if we have two more votes then I don't see it winning. I see Fighting Hawks being the top choice of the remaining three. But if the vote goes to Fighting Hawks/Roughriders or Fighting Hawks/Nodaks, then I see either Roughriders or Nodaks winning. Eliminating 1 of these final three options opens up alot of room for movement in a final runoff vote.
