Not sure how much to read into this. I'm also listening on the radio and not watching. I'm not a great basketball mind, but I love to follow UND.I assume MN-Morris isn't even great within their own divisionI know we're young, but I suppose Tuesday will be a little better measuring stick, as to how we match up against solid competition.

Voted Nodaks twice, and moved to Roughriders. I hope they get a logo done fairly quickly. Nothing will replace my Fighting Sioux hockey jersey, but I could be persuaded into buying a hat or something.

I think it would be easy to say the key for UND is going to be good secondary play. Though given that our team has fumbled more times than I ever though possible, I'm going to say the real key to winning this game for UND is ball security. Hold onto the ball, and we shouldn't have too many issues.

Agreed, I did think of the injury aspect, but I was really thinking more of a pond hockey, no contact, type of event. I think that is the only way you would get away with doing something like that.

Wow, do I remember that game. Not because it was a great game (I don't remember), or because we won (which I know we did), but because of that weekend in general. Not only did we play UMD in football, but we also played them in hockey. So my room mates and I have the brilliant idea, late on a Thursday night, to skip Friday classes and head to Duluth for the game. Being a poor college kid, I wake up early, bike over to Plasma, and donate for some weekend cash (proud moment to be the first one in the door so I can get some weekend money for a quick road trip ) The catch to this entire trip being, I need to be back to Grand Forks, and at the Alerus Center by 7:30 on Saturday morning, as I was in the band and there was playoff football. So we drive to DuluthWe eat Dinner and drinkWe drink and go to the hockey gameWe drink more and go to sleep (for about an hour or so)We wake up at about 3:30 and hit the road.We pull into Grand Forks, after being gone for a grand total of about 21 hours.I show up to the Alerus Center a little late, for what may very well have been the longest football game of my life!UND Football Win, and a UND Hockey Sweep ... Suck it Duluth

Yes, lets finally put a team away early and keep it that way. I'd really like to see one game that isn't really close. Win and building some momentum into next weekend. Just like our hockey team has done so many times, this is the time of the year to really gel and get hot .... (Hopefully) going into the playoffs. Remember how well our team gelled the last two games of last season. Now the realistic side of me is going to say, "Let's just win this weekend". Clearly that is all that matters right now. Though, the side of me that is so incredibly bored of having to wait for Saturday's kickoff is going to look way ahead (Don't get crazy on me, its just for fun speculation). Let say we win out, lets say we make the playoffs. Izzo has us playing UNI, which could be fun. They would be a solid team, but when the playoffs start, it is a 1 week season for everyone. Anyone remember the last time we played UNI? If I remember right, it was 2006 when we were a D2 school and came out of Cedar Falls with the W. When UND is playing solid D, and is healthy, I think we can compete with most. Now for the fun part, in the projected playoff bracket from 11/8, the winner of the UND/UNI game would move on to the Fargo Dome. How fun would that be! A playoff game against the in state rival, with an opportunity for revenge. Now I would never be so ignorant to say we win that, but I guarantee we play a more competitive game that the first time around. We actually run the ball. We actually past the ball. This is a complete pipe dream, and a lot of things would have to work out perfectly for this to ever happen, BUT I would love to be tailgating in Fargo for such a game in December (and hey, this is a fan forum, we can talk about crazy stuff here). Now, lets just win Saturday!

UND should totally do a exhibition game, between the Club Team, and the School team at the very beginning of the season. Just something casual and laid back, like the Green and White scrimmage for football. More of a pep rally to kick off the year than anything else, but it would be fun and it would really promote the club team. Might be hard to get started, but if you do it for a few years it could be kind of fun.

Was a big Nodak supporter. I'm pretty apathetic at this point, but voted Roughriders. Though my wife may be going Fighting Hawks, sooo yeah

UND should go all green against this weekend. That was a solid look.

I'll try to re-direct this. I'm NOT a great basketball mind, not even a big basketball fan. I barely watch NBA, but I will watch college from time to time. Sometime the Gophers, but I'll usually follow UND fairly closely. How is this team supposed to do this year? It sounds like we are young, but played well in Europe. Sounds like we have some really good young talent, and some more coming in next year, especially with that transfer. Any chance we shake things up and make a run this season?

People in these forums would usually rather ignore NDSU, that acknowledge that they have been successful in Football and Basketball in a way that we desperately want. I hope this year's team can surprise us a bit, given that they are pretty young, but ultimately I think Jones has had his shot, and not done much with it. The other side to this is if you want to replace Jones, then a better basketball coach needs to be available and willing to come to UND. Not sure who that is, and I'm certainly not a great basketball mind. Whatever they decide to do, hopefully they can retain some of the more talented recruits, and avoid a complete rebuild.

But you can't just throw out two losses because Keaton was out injured. How many losses would MT throw out? Hell they beat NDSU when their starter was in. If a guy goes down, the rest of the team needs to step up to win those games. I get where you are going with it. Basically if we are a bubble team we could be perceived as better now that we are playing with our starters, I'm just not sure how relevant of an argument that is, when other teams have key injuries as well, even if they may be at other positions. It could also be noted that UND didn't lose those games purely because Keaton was out. We had two score leads in those games, and completely fell apart late, on offense and defense. I hope we win out, and I hope we make the playoffs, but I really hope our team remembers those losses over these next two week, and even these next couple years. That is why you need to play a full 4 quarters.

Not only will we run on them, but I think Clive will haul in a deep one. We definitely need to defend their passing game by getting to the QB early, allow too many deep shots and eventually they will start connecting. Sioux win, and head out to Cal Poly completely amped up.

I really dont see that as a pitch. There are plenty of other teams that run into the same issue (ex. Montana). There are also plenty of other team that lose key players in other positions to injury. I just think the injury argument is irrelevant. You have to go by the product you had ON the field. I stil think UND looks good as long as we win our next two. The field should clear up after this weekend.

Right, but will it remain that once a new name is implemented? Whatever they become, I hope they keep a fair amount of the interlocking ND merchandise. I just don't know how many people will want a shirt with a hawk on it. I could maybe be persuaded into buying a new hat or something. Maybe eventually more. Right now I have plenty of Sioux gear and would buy some more ND gear. Even with that, they need to improve those designs.

I can appreciate the use of Nodak Nation in trying to appease more people. A Concept that could be used regardless of what wins. If not used, in conjunction with the new logo, it is still something that could be used for marketing and merchandising purposes.

Change it to a Fighting Sioux logo giving the middle finger to the NC$$? Or just get rid of the stupid bird ... either would improve it.

You are correct, I missed that. If EWU loses out, they are 6-5 and out of the playoffs. 1-1 and they are on the bubble. Really crazy, how some of these big games were scheduled so late. I'm not complaining though, it makes for a really fun/interesting end to the season. I just hope in two weeks we are all talking about the first round, and not a missed opportunity. I really think we have the skill to win these last two games, but we MUST play a full 4 quarters.
