Not sure I would say its not a good game. Both teams have a little rust, but its a top ten matchup going into the 4th quarter tied. I'd call is a good, solid defensive game overall. I know Stick is only a RSo. but he is not Wentz ... yet.

Agreed, Deluca is a beast.
-
Can Cerriteno come back and try? He was so amazing for us last season.
-
Try throwing Iwarri in there, or pull Secrest's redshirt. Heck Grady did it in HS, give him a chance no? Not so much?

Sorry Teeder, I just realized how poorly I had phrased my comment. I didn't mean to insinuate your statement was preposterous. I absolutely agree that Cloyd will be a force over the next 4 years. I meant to ask, in general, is the idea that Cloyd could be the next best TE since Kleinsasser a preposterous statement? Again, I know it is too early to say for sure, but in general .. based on potential.

Good to know, I figured he we still get plenty of playing time. Can't express how awesome it is to see this team start developing depth (hopefully we'll see this with the dbacks soon). Bennett has been pretty highly touted, so to have a player with that kind of skill, that deep on the chart is pretty exciting. Hope these guys all step up and play big ... especially the first 2 weeks. Would be awesome to come home and play USD with a 2-0 record. Can't wait for next week!

No Mason Bennett on the two deep ... is this purely because of depth?
-
Maybe this is a preposterous statement, given that Cloyd has not even played in a college football game ... but you've at least seen in practice. Is it fair to say, he could be UND's best tight end since Kleinsasser? Or at least have the most potential since Kleinsasser? Could be way off base, but just curious.

Hopefully he can come back from the Hammy ok. I heard he was looking pretty good for someone who wasn't familiar with the system yet. Also heard similar things about Reed, not as impressive as had been hoped for. Maybe he'll surprise.

Understand you're not trying to be combative, but let me clarify my comment. I certainly didn't mean to slight Heidelbaugh, Bolinski, or Boltman. My intent was that there it is excellent to add depth and competition to the most important position on the field. Technically we have an unknown commodity in Heidelbaugh, Bolinksi, Boltman and Prater; BUT if we want to read between the lines, Prater was above Simis on the depth chart for a pretty strong MT program, and would have played except for injury. Now that doesn't actually mean anything, other than the kid has shown potential and should provide additional competition. SO, not saying he is the next guy after Studs, or that he'll ever start, or that he'll ever even see the field. Just that he adds depth in an important place. As for the leadership piece, he definitely brings something that nobody else can. Will he have to earn his respect? Of course. But between his military and life experience, that provides a lot of experience unique to someone that is playing college football. I think most of us know how much a person typically matures between (18-22 y/o) and (25-27 y/o). My point being he brings a maturity to the team, that could be good for other players to see.

Awesome to see a guy with some experience in the locker room. As mentioned, it sounds like he will be a great leader. Not just because he is a former Ranger, but because he is a husband and father as well. Those experiences can provide leadership qualities that will be great for younger players to see. Sounds like this guy has had to make a lot of sacrifices to end up where he has, and that speaks volumes about his personality. On the football side, it adds depth to the most important position, add competition, and could provide an important bridge between Studsrud graduating, and hopefully Boltman taking over. Nice to not have to rush the young guys. MT fans seemed to have a lot of great things to say about this guy. Not necessarily on overall talent, but in terms of personality, which is great to have.

To be where NDSU is? Yes, of course, but even you must realize that NDSU has not been a normal program in recent year. Thus all the national attention and media they receive. In terms of being competitive on an annual basis, no, I'd say they are on a pretty strong track to being competitive on a regular basis. Are we completely there yet? No. Is there still some proving ourselves to do? Sure. But to say they have "a long way to go" is just an asinine trolling comment. Even in my conversations with a bunch of Bison fans, they recognize that Bubba has come in and turn the program in the right direction. Just need to give him a little more time to complete the turn around. That doesn't mean they will win 5 national champions in a row, but that isn't a realistic goal for any program.

Thanks for the feedback, I may invest in the Roku, unless anyone knows if the PS4 or XBox have the same capabilities in terms of watching NCHC.tv. I intend on getting a new system anyway so I don't want to double up unless I need to.
-
This is the kind of stuff I like to hear. Not so much having a #1 player, but more of a 1A and 1B. We need that kind of depth, without a talent drop off.
-
Anyone here ever use Roku for live streaming of any other type of event? Just curious as to how well it works and if it is worth the investment over plugging my laptop into the TV. Which works for the most part, but sometimes can be poor quality. Also, does anyone know what the capabilities are for PS4 or XBox? I believe XBox has a ESPN3 app, but I'm not sure. This would really only be useful for 1 or 2 football games and some of the NCAA Hockey Tourney. Just curious if these machines are capable of more (NCHC.tv or BigSkyTV) Thanks!

Hearing about true freshman that are built like 5th year senior, with the talent and potential of these kids is extremely exciting. Can't wait to see what they can do.

Is there a reason this conversation is still going on? Let's get back to talking UND football, as that is what this site is for. Thanks.

Did UND offer Gibbs?

I'll give them this ... they absolutely have the talent on their team to be competitive. I don't think Lucia has done a good job (in a while) of getting the most of of his players; and that is where some change is needed. Lucia does deserve some credit for his Nat'l Championships and Tourney appearance, but even with that, his consistency over the past several years has not been there. If nothing else, it would do the program good to get a new coach in with some fresh ideas. Maybe someone who can relate to the players a little better. Hastings has done well for Mankato and Montgomery at DU. You could even try to point to Berry's first year success (Thats a whole different argument for a different player--I liked Hak, I also like Berry). Point is, maybe Lucia and his style have just gotten a little stale; talent is there though. -
Love all the positives coming out of camp! Any early criticisms, or areas of concern? Thanks for the updates Teeder!

Hey all, do players report to camp today or end of the week? I know there have been so many rumors about Grady being there or leaving. Tired of people opinions, guesses, having sources .... I just want to know if the kid actually shows or not.
-
nice, I think thats actually pretty cool change if they do it.
-
Yeah, I hadn't read the depression piece until after my last post. I do wish the kid the best, hopefully he finds the right way to cope with it. I still hope he can stay, but if not ... best of luck to him, as long as he isn't at NDSU

Personally I love what Bubba is doing here. Will Grady be back, will he not. Oh he's back on the roster ... Now he is gone! Guy is a genius, he has the whole Big Sky guessing and confused. What a mastermind! Seriously though, losing Grady blows, but if he can't be committed after multiple chances .... the goodbye. I personally hopes he figures it out, sounds like he has had a rough time, but to be on the team you still need to be committed. Good luck to the kid, whether it is in a UND uniform or not.
