  1. Agreed, but are we really going to question Studrud? He played 1 bad game this season. He played like 7 good games last season. I'll judge on the overall body of work and trust he will play better. If he has another 2 games like this, then I agree, but he will get back to his normal form. I'll cut him a break for his first game and playing against a top defense.
  2. ok, I must have been screaming or drinking at that point. First I was mad that clive didn't secure the ball and just go down. Then I was mad that he was injured. Oh well, S*%t happens. Next man up!
  3. If anyone really wants to get down on this team, remember Montana last season. Yes they started with a big W against NDSU; then they went on to lose to Cal Poly and Liberty. After that they went on to make the playoffs and beat a good SDSU team. Point is, it is a long season, and there will be a lot of ups and downs. It would have been nice to be 2-0, but it was more realistic to be 1-1 after 2 tough road games. That can still happen. I know most people expected for SB to be in the win column, but now we just need to get that win somewhere else. Win a different, close, game. Maybe that is N Arizona, or Bowling Green, or Mt St on the road. No reason to get down on this team yet. They are the same talented bunch that we were excited about going into the SB game.
  4. replay? I was watching on Roku and I didn't think they had any replays. Just wondering if I was missing something.
  5. Agreed, I don't think it was dirty. Clive was trying to get extra yards, and was stretched out on top of a defender. It almost looked like he handed the ball over to the defender; I'm not sure if the ball actually hit the ground or not. On a different thread, someone said two broken bones in his leg. Not sure if this is accurate or not, but it is all I have heard. Also heard Reyes should be fine.
  6. If thats true, that sucks! I fell really bad for the kid; he was poised to make some noise this year. Like I said though, once you have the first down and you've gained 15 yards, there is no need to open up and stretch yourself out like he did to gain another inch or two. Pull the ball in and secure it, and go down. If he does that, we likely win the game and keep our #1 receiver.
  7. I agree, some of these posts are ridiculous. Its ok to be disappoint, but there is a long way to go before our season is over, or a failure.
  8. Next week will be a very different game. Have to remember that this is not the same BGSU team that was in the bowl game last season. They have lost a ton of players (QB, RB, and something like 4 receivers). They do return the most experienced O-line in college football (not the best, but the most experienced). They also lost their coach. I expect their play style to be the same, but not their talent level; it will take some time for them to gel. SB challenged our front 7 with the run game, and overall, we held them up pretty well (62 yards rushing for SB). BG will challenge our secondary, which looked pretty rough early in the game, but seemed to play a little better as the game went on. Maybe I've missed the update, but has anyone heard how Reyes is doing? SB defense was also very good at locking in on Santiago and limiting the run game. Last season we could see Santiago get to the edge and turn the corner, and SB sniffed him out almost every time last night. I expect him to have more running room again BGSU. Someone on the BGSU forum stated they thought they would have the best front 7 in the MAC this year, which seems pretty bold considering how bad their run D got torched by Georgia Southern in their bowl game. I'm not a good judge of O-lines, but I didn't think they cost us the game by any stretch last night. They will certainly need to continue to grow and improve, but I though they were ok for being somewhat of an unknown. I wouldn't expect this to be any different next weekend. #1 most critical thing for UND to beat Bowling Green is better QB play. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I really like Studsrud. He showed why he was the starter last season, but he was awful last night. Didn't play well under pressure, and didn't play well when he had time. I trust that was partially due to being the first game and that he will get back to his true form. Special teams were ok, and I was really thinking Dussold was playing ok, up until his punt got blocked. That is SO unacceptable, especially given where they were on the field. On to Bowling Green! Lets get another FBS win, even up the record and come back home!
  9. My outlook would be better this morning, if I had not poured that extra whiskey in the 4th quarter.
  10. great prediction, considering you've seen UND play 1 game and you haven't seen BGSU on the field yet. I'm sure a lot of though went into that though.
  11. Good point! I'm sure Studs was so confused with the lack of the interlocking ND, that he didn't really know where to focus when throwing. Darell just solved the mystery of the anemic offense!
  12. A lot of whining that the season is over already. I understand the emotion in losing, especially like that, but remember that half the teams out there lose their first game. The season is not over. Even if we go 0-2, the season is still not lost, we have a very favorable conference schedule waiting for us still. Last night confirmed that this team is not where it needs to be, to be talked about as a top contender yet. There was a lot of complaining when we were picked 4th in the Big Sky; last night showed why we were not higher. That does not mean that we can't finish higher, or are not capable of being better, but it does show that we still have a long ways to go in preparing and executing. First, have to give credit where credit is due. Stony Brook had a tremendous defense. Again there was a lot of bickering last night about them being the best in the FCS or who was better (them or NDSU). Doesn't matter, they are a good defense, and whether they are 1, 2, 5, 8 etc; they will be one of the top in the FCS. On the flip side, that was the most anemic I have seen our offense in a while. I like Studs, but he looked terrible. He looked uncomfortable and rushed (credit to the D), but even when he had time his throws were off target and lacked zip. I trust he will shake this off and get back to being the kid we saw at the end of last year. Without any sort of passing game, SB was able to do exactly what they wanted focus completely on stopping the run game, and keeping our offense off the field. Our defense had to be exhausted by half time. *Side note: I was really shocked by some of the plays that Rudolph was calling, especially in 3rd and 8 to 3rd and 12 type situations. You still have an opportunity to get that first down, and he was calling soft toss plays, which drops the ball back even further and give their D more time to penetrate the O line. Overall, that is truly a game that we lost, rather than them winning. I'll give them the first TD, even though they fumbled it into the endzone, as they probably would have scored anyway. But the blocked punt was ridiculous. On the flip size, we left a lot of points out there. Did we fumble twice within scoring distance? I was screaming at the tv when Clive fumbled. I absolutely hate it when kids stick the ball out where anyone can grab it, or knock it loose to try to gain an extra inch or two; especially when you have already got the first down. If he had tucked the ball in safely and gone down, you are likely talking about a UND victory where we don't lose our top receiver. Remeber, the season is not lost. We still have a strong D (secondary does scare me), great RBs, and a QB who we know is better than his performance last night. As fans we can mope a little bit about the loss, it is certainly a punch to the gut of our high expectations; but the players need to shake it off and get ready for next Saturday. Bowling Green is still a winnable game, and picking up a win there would do a lot for the confidence of the team and the fans.
  13. Bif difference betweeen juming ship, and being disappointed in the showing. Most know this is a game we should have won, but we didn't close out the game. Offense didnt do even close to enough, and that punt Block killed us.
  14. Rudolph was not great. He DID NOT cost them the game. Punt Block sucks! But the punter had some nice kicks too. There was not a single reason we lost this game. In the end SB outplayed us. We better learn from it or it will be a long season. I think we will. BUT now we must win 1 if not the next 2. I am disappointed with how we started. It looked like we didn't prepare or scout SB until half time. We knew their strength and did nothing to try to outsmart or outplay it. Not a good showing overall by UND. Definitely not a Wyoming type showing.
  15. Agreed. Hate the folks that say the season is lost after 1 game ( it's not) bUT you have to win those games. Again, you want to be competitive like NDSU, you win that game. Instead we lost, lost Clive and injured reyes. VERY rough start.
  16. I didn't realize they already played two full games
  17. I'm sorry, I didnt realize the game was over
  18. What us rudolph doing with thsee toss plays on 3 and 12?
  19. Whiskey came out and we got a safety. I'm going to pour another one!
  20. I don't think he was down. Looked like he was on top of the guy. Damn it we need him though.
  21. Yeah, dumb post. But studs is having a tough go so far.
  22. Wow, what is going on with studs
