  1. agreed, winning this game, would almost erase the 0-2 start. Given that last week was certainly not a guaranteed win, being a tough road game, and Poly has been very successful early on the year. I would be very happy with where were are heading into the Sac St game, if we can gut out a win this weekend. I'd really love it if they could win without giving me a heart attack at the end of the game too.
  2. Don't be ridiculous, there is no room for the use of TEs in this offense, and we certainly wouldn't want to split our speed guy outside. Lets just stick with short runs and 3rd and long situations. Funny ideas though
  3. Also makes sense that 3-1 Poly is 16, while 1-2 SDSU (win over Powerhouse Drake) is 15. UNI also moves up 2 spots with their quality Bye.
  4. Damn, and we already took care of our quality loss too. Beat Poly and we will be sitting nicely though. Or using their current logic, we may fall completely out of consideration.
  5. I get that, but do we know anything about Heidelbaugh's decision making. Agree on Studs, I think he knows he doesn't have to win the game with his arm, but he could lose the game if he does something stupid.
  6. If that is all, that would be great! Also, the announces had mentioned that Seibel could be back next week. Not sure how accurate that was, but it must mean he is, as least, close. Definitely would be nice to have him back on the field.
  7. Anyone know how his decision making is? Say what you want about Studs, but he seems to make smart decisions and not turn the ball over much. Maybe that is a flaw in itself, a few more risks may cause a few more turnovers, but could also produce some more yards and conversions.
  8. Agreed, I was going to mention that about Montana, but honestly don't know enough about SDSU. I just haven't really watched them play. Hope that is the case, and hope we can establish the run. Regardless, we still need to find some sort of passing game. If Keaton could throw for around 200 with a TD and no INTs, I'd call that a big win. Especially if dispersed throughout the game, and not bunched into the last quarter and a half. I know Studs has taken a lot of heat for his play, and some of it is warranted, but by no means is he the sole reason for UNDs offensive struggles. It all starts at the line, and once they start finding the right combination and gelling a bit, this offense will start producing more.
  9. Just saw some of the post game interview, and I have to say I really like that JP Flynn kid for Mt St. He comes across as the loud intense lineman that could really amp some people up.
  10. haha, I would have taken flickertails over Sundogs.
  11. A few thought for Cal-Poly. What is with this team and Montana? -2014: Win over the Grizz 41-21 -2015: Win over the Grizz 20-19 -2016: Win over the Grizz 42-41 That’s a pretty impressive run, over a pretty impressive program Road games (I’ll take a little home field advantage, Alerus needs to be LOUD and cause a few penalties) : 2013: Home (3-3) Away (3-3) 2014: Home (4-1) Away (3-4) 2015: Home (2-3) Away (2-4) 2016: Home (2-0) Away (1-1) Vs. SDSU Passing: 9-11 for 161 Yards Rushing: 59 for 440 Yards 1 fumble, 1 lost 1 interception TOP: 35:43 Vs. Montana Passing: 6-10 for 157 Yards Rushing: 54 for 274 Yards 3 fumbles, 1 lost 1 interception TOP: 30:16 There has been some chatter about how much better this team is at passing than last year, which is probably true, but they still aren’t chucking the pigskin like they are Montana. Our corners and safeties are playing much better this year, and should be fine. This team’s offense is still built heavily around the run. If you stop the run, you can limit their scoring. I also see this an opportunity for some major turnovers. Our defense has been tremendous in winning the turnover battle this year, and against a team like Poly, they need to continue that. UND is +7 in turnovers, while Poly is +1; advantage UND! UND will need to find some success through the air, with a more balanced gameplan. Cal-Poly is actually the top team in the Big Sky right now in Rush defense, just ahead of UND. I’m not saying we can’t change that, but a few early completions for 8-10 yards, might loosen up the defense a bit. I think the first drive is critical. Sustain the first drive of the game for some points, and maybe we can find our groove a little earlier than normal. Cal Poly is converting their 3rd downs at 51.8% (29 of 56). Keeping them in 3rd and long situations will be critical, otherwise the defense will be worn out by halftime. Neither team has fared too well with penalties this season, so UND needs to play disciplined and let the crowd prompt some false starts for Poly. No surprise these teams are the top 2 teams in terms of TOP in the Big Sky, so this game will be heavily based on sustaining drives and controlling the clock.
  12. Yeah he is, he puts the ball right on the money. Already seen a number of deep ball passes that are perfectly thrown, but dropped. I've never been an eagles fan, but I'll pull for them, just for this kid. Hope he has 2 losses on the year, to the Vikes on Oct 23, and to the Vikes in the NFC Championship game!
  13. SEE ... there is still time for Heidelbaugh to take UND to the promised land, get drafted, and tear up the NFL!!! You heard it hear first
  14. Any new information on the NCHC roku app? They said it would be ready by Oct 1, and that is approaching fast! Also, does anyone know if the banner raising will be shown on the broadcast, or will they tune in right at puck drop? Or will UND stream the banner raising through their website for free, like they did at the end of the season to celebrate with the team?
  15. ugh, I'm not ever turning in my sioux gear, and will always buy more of it, but I may break down and buy a hat or something this weekend. I will continue referring to my winter sports team as Sioux Hawkey though I know it is stupid, but I am a very traditional type of person, and tradition runs pretty deep for the hockey team. I'll have a hard time seeing the logo on hockey jerseys. As a whole, I don't mind the logo as much as when it first came out. I still think it is bland and needs some alternative logos; but this one does look good on the FB helmets. I still think Fighting Hawks was the most bland, boring and PC name they could come up with, but at least it isn't Sundogs.
  16. Hope you are correct! I know nothing about Heidelbaugh except for what I read on this forum, and I hope the kid isn't forced into game before he is ready. Wouldn't it be nice to get a serious lead on someone this year, just to get him some snaps. If we could even have 1 or 2 games like we did against N Colorado last year, it would be awesome to get some depth players some more experience. Not sure that will happen based on what we have seen so far this season, but who knows. Maybe we can find some offense against Sac St, or Idaho St?!?!
  17. I think in some ways you answered your own questions. Studs is not a top level FCS QB; he is a capable FCS QB, but we don't seem to set him up to utilize his strengths. He does not need to stay in the pocket as often as he does. He is actually a pretty accurate thrower on the run. I'd like to see him on more rollout or bootleg plays, this is where you give Keaton a chance to make plays with both his arm and his legs.
  18. Agree, this questioning who is playing QB needs to stop. It is a position where we are not overly deep with talent. I'm fine with riding Studrud out and hoping he turns the corner like he did last year. If Heidelbaugh is not ready, and I mean ready to legitimately overtake Studs, then there is not reason to play him when you are 2-2 and hoping for the playoffs. What makes me more nervous is, will Heidelbaugh be ready next year? Not necessarily to take over, but to at least challenge. Absolutely need competition at the position.
  19. Tiasamo Savusa
  20. Bradley Mickey Chris Owen (aka The Shermanator)
  21. Aside from wearing that ugly bison jersey, its hard not to like this kid.
  22. Kam Dennis Gerald from Hey Arnold
  23. Dominic Frasch Michael Hall
  24. Lets do it guys! We smoked the bobcats in look-a-likes, so let's do it again this week. J.J. Koski Gregory Sporleder
  25. Definitely looking forward to this game. We so close to being 4-0 or 0-4, so 2-2 sounds about right. Realistic pre-season expectation at this point was probably 3-1 (maybe even 2-2 with a loss to Mt St on the road). I do think that beating Mt St on the road is a pretty big win. I am tired of trying to predict that this will be the week our offense starts to figure things out. We knew that this wasn't going to be a typical Big Sky, high pass, offense. So I'm not overly disappointed with our pass game. There have been some nice flashes, though they NEED to utilize the TEs more. We also know our O line is not as strong as last season, but was is driving me crazy is how poor the run blocking has been overall. I just hope they can figure it out. Trying to remember to last season, our offense didn't really click until the end of the season, so maybe we just need to keep grinding out a few games. I'll take ugly wins over ugly losses. I know Cal-Poly's QB is better at passing than last year, but our secondary has also improved. Our defense needs to focus on stopping their run game, and causing their triple option to fumble. This could be a game of field position, so I hope Dussold is ready to hit some punts, and Taubs is ready to hit some kicks, glad wind won't be a factor. Definitely glad this game is at home. 31-24 UND Please please please, find some offense.
