  1. Pair me with Makar and I'd probably just sit back in my own zone. He doesn't need me trying to pinch up or hold the zone and getting in his way. I'll just sit back, talk to the goalie and yell encouraging words.
  2. Can we ask him to play both.
  3. Wasn't he a big football guy too, or am I thinking of someone else?
  4. and of course, mid-post I see the announcement Kleven has signed.
  5. Looking forward to seeing who we bring in at goalie and hope they transition quickly. Kind of funny to have to go to the portal a few years in a row when you think about the crazy run of dominant goalies we recruited. Parise, Lamoreux, Eidsness, Dell, Gothberg/McIntrye ... I'm probably missing one in there, but there were some good years. It seemed like guys were constantly putting up impressive stats. I'm surprised Kleven hasn't signed and also hope we can bring him back for one more. I know there are concerns over his penalty minutes, and if he can just avoid the majors I'm fine with it. Just a part of his game to refine. It would be a big addition to the team. Faceoffs has to be something they work on. It was pointed out on air, multiple times, how rough our faceoffs were this year, especially in critical situations. Not good for a team who is generally very good at that. Wish we could just skip the NCAA Tourney because I may puke if UM, DU or MI win it. Gross. I'm ready to see next years roster and schedule. Really needs guys like Gaber and Blake to keep doing their thing. Would like to see James keep going with the momentum he was getting at the end of the season and Mclaughin needs to put on a little weight. For all the critics, we've seen the parity in college hockey. A few of those one score games that didn't go our way this year, could easily flip next year and then you're well within the tourney. Coming into UND in 2003, I didn't even realize the stretch of incredible teams I was watching. The NCAA Tourney was a right, not a priveledge and the Frozen Four was more often than not. All teams have some down years, but hopefully UND can right the ship and be a little more consistent with their tourney appearances and tourney success.
  6. I must have missed that one
  7. I'm not so sure they would have experience a loss during that covid year. Nothing is guaranteed, but that was a dominant team that was playing really really well.
  8. I'm sure there are regional implications that could play into this. Not sure where SCSU could land, but if they end up in Fargo, they might have to deal with UND again their. Not exactly to their advantage as a higher seed. I'm sure they would rather be the closest fanbase to the facility ... though a good chance Gophers would end up there unless UND makes it.
  9. Yeah, I have no beef with Alaska being in or ahead of UND. UND issues of being below Alaska are because we lost games we shouldn't have lost. As was pointed out, just look at the comparable with DU and ASU.
  10. I watch on YouTube TV. Maybe you can get a free trial or something? It may be specific to the channels available where ever you are though; that part I'm not sure about.
  11. So will it be Heinert and Starman this weekend?
  12. What all of these Ifs and Buts tell me, especially when comparing to the way UND has played over the last month is that the talent was always there to compete with anyone (we saw that with the Goofs) but now the team has gelled and seems to be playing a much more complete game. The questions will be is it "too little, too late"? OR will this be somewhat of a Hakstolish type of year where the team started off poorly, he found a way to right the ship, sneak in and we have a chance at a run. There is no doubt that this team CAN play with anyone, but WILL they?
  13. absolutely. And at this point it doesn't really matter. Team needs to control what they can and for now that is just SCSU. I'm thrilled the season didn't end this weekend, but I really want to see us make it to the NCAA tourney. Sneaking in to the tourney with the season we've had would be a big time win, and once you're in the regionals, anything can happen.
  14. Not that I wouldn't like another shot at DU, but our chances would be better against CC, and I do think a UND/CC Championship game would be a lot of fun given we are both lower seeds, and it would guarantee another NCHC team in the tourney.
  15. They definitely passed the eye test. I though that was one of the tougher UNO teams I have seen over the years. Yes, the didn't play as well yesterday and completely imploded in the third, but the seemed relentless for most of the weekend. Constant pressure on the puck and a great effort. You don't beat out that many icing calls without working hard.
  16. Calling a major would have been them deciding. They have at least been pretty consistent.
  17. He has had a pretty bad gain. Hain hasn't done much either.
  18. Agreed. I think Brad does a great job writing and reporting on the convenient stuff, but he never seems to want to dig into much or ask the tough questions. I suppose that keeps him in good graces for the other stuff, but its a little frustrating as a reader.
  19. There hasn't been a ton to be positive about this year. After becoming a UND fan when I got to campus in 2003, we had home ice for the first round of the playoffs all through Hak's tenure, and at least the first year of Berry's. You know you can't be #1 every year, but for this program to ever be in the bottom half just seems so unacceptable to me. That being said, I'm cautiously optimistic about this week. This team has just looked different over the past few weeks and hopefully players are gelling at the right time, and goaltending is figuring it out. You never know what can happen at this time of year and we have certainly seen some crazy things. If I recall there was a year where Hak barely snuck the team in and won the NCAA regional as a 4 seed. I believe it was the year we lost to MN with like .8 sec left to go to the championship. At least they got beat up by Union.
  20. I mean if we are going to compare dumpster fires, at least playing for a bigger program comes with bigger perks. If this was a competitive UND team, I may understand the concept. But c'mon. What has this team/program shown in the last handful of years that would really make someone not consider other options? I'm not saying it is right. I am old school and think if a school is giving you an opportunity and an education, you should be grateful for it and show up ready to work for 4 years, but that just isn't the way it is right now.
  21. I haven't had much to say on the message board this season. There aren't many positive things to say. I've been frustrated with the officiating big time this season, but that is far from what is holding this team back. Would like to see a more potent offense (we seem to miss the net A LOT), our D just hasn't been the same with Sanderson gone, and goaltending has been a struggle to say the least. That being said, when I turned the game on Saturday in the 2nd. It was like watching an entire different team out there. The sustained zone pressure and offensive opportunities were great. I thought goaltending was better this weekend as well. Ultimately, if these team played all year, the way they did this past weekend, we would be in the tournament picture with an at large bid. The only glimmer of hope I have here is that this team starts clicking right down the stretch and finds a way to make a push into St Paul. UND has shown they can play with anyone (MN, SCSU, DU - We had some good games with all of these teams), but they have also shown they can lose to anyone. Get hot at the right time and who know what happens. Would be fun to end a rough season with a trip to St Paul, and Auto bid and a tourney appearance. At that point, you can only hope the team builds some chemistry and momentum into next season. At a few more key pieces and who knows what next year looks like. Definitely excited to see what Blake can do over the next few seasons. Go get CC! We need a sweep!
  22. I don't understand anyone majorly defending Sather through all of this. He hasn't done anything during his time here. 9-17 with maybe one more win left on the schedule. People can talk about the transfer portal all the want, but every team in the league and the country has to face the transfer portal. They can talk about not having the players with the size or physical play like other teams. The coach recruits these kids, if he can't get them to stay or develop them or have them game ready, that is on him. Not saying it is an easy job, or that everything is within Sather's control, and that's not always fair BUT after multiple years of this has he done anything to EARN and extension? I'm not a basketball fan, so it doesn't make a huge difference to me, but I do enjoy when UND has a good year. Gives me something else to follow casually and watch. Definitely been a few years since I've been able to do that. (Hoping the win over Denver sets a tone for a the hockey series this weekend! )
  23. I think the camera man said F it and left. This is awful.
  24. I believe on TV they mentioned something like 3rd major of the year, or something to that tone, carries an automatic 1 game suspension with it. Announcers seemed pretty confident that Kleven will be sitting tomorrow.
