I believe it was completely circumstantial relative to who offered and when. I think if SIU had come in first in 2007, he would have still said no. If Montana St had come in 2008, he would have said yes. I agree with you that Montana State is the better opportunity now, but because of all the off the field "black eyes" in the football program before Ash arrived, I think that played a factor in his ultimate decision making regarding the job in Bozeman. Dale is a Montana type of guy, if that makes sense, for a lot of different reasons. I'd say there is about a 1% chance he even considers USD and about 10% chance he considers Montana State. Of course that's assuming they both were to go after him. However, this is speculation on my part as I have no recent direct knowledge of either situation specifically.

Lets also not forget that Dale did something immediately that he didnt have to do by scheduling UND for a non-conference game in Carbondale at a time during the transition when scheduling for UND was.....lets say....difficult...for quite some time. How selfish of him.

He gave them ample and fair warning by interviewing in Bozeman and turning it down. They thought he was bluffing. Then SIU came calling the next year.

I like that list a lot. I like Nigel, but not sure he 's quite ready for the UND job yet. I would substitute Craig Smith for Nigel Jenkins, assuming he's 'gettable', which may or may not be the case. Picking from those 4 would be a nice start.

If anyone knows the cumulative reasons why Dale left and still is sour on him, so be it I guess... However, I'd be willing to bet the majority don't know the details on that (maybe i'm wrong). It appears to me that specifically gfhockey doesnt.

I'm saying all levels of football have changed over the last 4o years you refer to. FCS is what it is now. Its also the level UND plays at. Why belittle that and what the cow college has done? We are trying to be the best we can at the level we play at. I just dont even understand why that even needs to be brought up. Who cares.

Agree with homer. Almost a certainty 2-4 kids won't redshirt. I think Evan Holm is on the 2 deep....like yesterday. Hope he gets here early this summer. Wonder how long before we see an early enrollee on campus for spring semester classes, lifting and spring ball to get them ready for fall with no redshirt?

Correct. They are on the road as we speak. I'd guess 8-10 kids this weekend. These first 2 weekends, as always, will be huge for getting top-end kids.

I dont expect anyone to take what I say as gospel, just sharing what I was told. I'm interested to see which type of tough questions will be asked to Wilson on 740 here shortly. Do they ask about the bracket being decided before UND kicked off? If so, what is his response? It's not like there weren't 10 other people there. The question I have is if anyone would call him out for any untruths? Too taboo for a committee member to step up? I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Fullerton/Idaho St AD convo that followed the selection process. Grab your popcorn...will be interesting to see what transpires, if anything.

Facts: We were out before the 9 pm EST kickoff in San Luis Obispo. It was already decided by the committee. Our game didn't even matter. They didn't want to wait up til midnight to debate it. Get the bracket done and go to bed. Ironic thing is they really only had to wait until 10:30 pm EST to figure it out. The Idaho State AD fought his ass of for us but could not change the committee's minds: "UND is playing the best football in our league right now." Big Sky office is red-hot. Can't believe we haven't heard from Fullerton on this yet.

Yeah you're right, I'd say Deboer is definitely a legit mutual target. However, I think Caruso is kind of a pipe dream for them. They would love to have him, but I don't see him wanting to go back to Vermilion. Again, just my educated guess here. PhilySioux makes a good point on Jed Stugart as a viable option as well. The Beschorner head-coach-in-training-thing maybe has changed since I had heard that a while back, who knows. (EDIT: Sounds like maybe it has changed)

I believe current OC and former USD QB Wes Beschorner is in line to be named with Glenn out, but I could be wrong.

Then maybe Patty and "Touchdown" should get off their collective asses and extend a 'silent invite' so UND has a decision to make....like 5 years ago. Whether myself or anyone else here agree or disagree with being members of the BSC or MVFC/Summit, I think we can all agree they are incompetent at best for not having the leadership and vision to have done so already. That's fine, but we didnt beat Idaho State or Weber. We did however, beat Portland at their place, Wyoming at their place and then-ranked Montana State. And WIU shouldn't have been beaten by ndsu 59-7. And they should have won 7 games or more. And Eastern Illinois should have.... Doesn't matter. The records and resumes are what they were and clearly the committee made a gigantic mistake by not including UND in the field.

You are 100% correct. That is completely intentional. Now they can say "see, we were right on WIU" when everyone knows Dayton is a complete mirage.

Rodgers will be playing inside linebacker. Unless they decided to move him recently which I haven't heard.
