  1. But didn't they mention Chorney in the coach's show some time ago? He's also a junior like Lee.
  2. Kinda surprised there was no mention of Lee.
  3. And this list will no doubt grow. It's no mystery that the Sioux will be decimated by losses in '05 & might even have some early departures so might as well start now--wouldn't make much sense for Blais to put future recruiting on the backburner when there are quite a few blue chippers who are a perfect match for '05 right in his backyard. Michigan will have a freshman-laden team just like us that year.
  4. Likewise, but that moose dude's been on USCHO since '99--but don't know about his credibility, either, as I don't go there very often.
  5. Just signed the online petition--was signer #456. I think it would be a great honor for a man who did so so much for USA hockey & who was a legend. Hopefully the governing bodies of the respective leagues will see past any possible politics & ratify this at their next convention. Didn't see any mention of foreign players on foreign teams being eligible for this (i.e. some player on a Russian team). I would suppose they're eligible considering it's the IIHF we're talking about. Also: 1) How low in age do they go? Would some squirt player be eligible? (Again, I suppose so because it says it "would be given to the most outstanding member of the hockey community for his/her achievements on and off the ice.") 2) I was thinking they could give 1 award for each league instead of just 1 overall. How does one determine the most fitting player out of thousands upon thousands of hockey players? 3) The respective leagues are obviously going to cash in their votes for a player in their own league. That leaves the possibility of having 30, 40, 50 or whatever finalists. Does the IIHF then make the final ruling? (Edit: I forgot that the media was eligible to vote, but that would still leave a lot of finalists) Great idea, but needs to be refined a little in order for it to fully work, imo.
  6. How true. I could move back to GF tomorrow & it would feel like I never left. The cold weather is no problem, but the lack of meaningful jobs is.
  7. All hail Pat! Great job & thanks once again...
  8. I hope you don't have a similar problem with loved ones or babes at the El Roco who try to avoid you like the plague, as well.
  9. Kinda reminds me of the Rev. Jesse Jackson--Mr. Mumbo Jumbo.
  10. Boy, great posts y'all. Thanks much for shedding some light on Lee & the very likely prospect, Oshie. Not trying to get ahead of myself, but if anyone has any info on Oshie, might as well post it. Dagies can just ignore it until it becomes "official" Not exactly a group of 25 y/o Canadians for '05 but I'll take it; will be interesting if Lee (& possibly Oshie) play(s) in the USHL his senior year. Nothin' but blue chips so far.
  11. Some interesting snippets from that Forum article:
  12. Thanks, U2, looks like they beat the online version of the Herald in reporting this latest addition.
  13. Lee is also the latest addition to Heisenberg's site. It listed there: Brian Lee-RD (2/3/04) Moorhead 6'2 180 3-27-87 2003 USA U-17 team (for 2005) I had no idea he was that tall at only 16 y/o. Granted, Heisenberg doesn't always have very accurate physical stats, but if he's actually 6'2" at this age Can anybody here describe his style, strengths, etc.? If you're reading this, Brian, welcome to the Sioux family! BOOYA!
  14. I hope we don't peak & dive like Howard Dean. Michigan in '96-'97 was almost unbeatable that season & was #1 throughout (Legg, Morrison, Muckalt & a host of other stars) until BU crashed their party in the national semis...CC last year...the Sioux in those years you mentioned, dagies. It almost pays to have an average first half & peak in February--maintaining this intensity for 6+ months has to take a toll. Kinda reminds me of the rabbit & the hare parable in a weird sorta way--let's hope not.
  15. "He's a hot dog." "He was really hot dogging it."...Does that help? Go get 'em, coach
  16. Thanks for sharing that, schmidt. Doesn't sound like brown-nosing & conformity were in Eddie's vocabulary. Being able to maintain his individuality & not trying to score brownie points with the coaching staff takes a big set, imo, especially when you're a rookie. I admire that in a person...
  17. Well, good luck. Make sure someone takes some pictures so we can see you fierce warriors in action
  18. I guess there's only one way to find out & I ain't goin' there
  19. GE: Do you guys actually try out there or is it basically 30 minutes of half-hearted hockey with a desire to finish quickly so you can get trashed?
  20. It's being carried in Phoenix by Quest Cable & Dish TV--neither of which I have, of course. Like the date the game's being played:
  21. Just wondering if the participants actually try their hardest during this game or do they just hot doggit around the rink like the NHL All Star Game? No skills competition? That was you getting hacked by a vicious Sioux, GE? From your mature posts, I always thought you were in your 50's, 60's...
  22. That's pretty deep. I think I heard that on the original "Kung Fu" when that old Chinese dude was teaching Grasshopper a valuable lesson.
  23. Massen came to mind when I read that sentence but I guess he didn't play Saturday. Anybody know what's up with that guy? Is it just a nagging groin injury that's slowing him down or is he having some personal problems? It seems like he's been stuck in 2nd gear for the better part of the last year & I can't imagine a guy with that much talent pi$$ing it away unless he was having some personal issues...Doubtful anyone here knows, but it doesn't hurt to ask. If he were playing to his potential week in-week out we'd have one mighty dangerous team.
  24. Don't leave us hanging, dude. Pls. let us know if/when you hear something official. Thanks.
  25. From PCM's recap last night on USCHO: Add to that a quick glove hand, above-average size, good on breakaways & an apparent self-confidence in his abilities & it's obvious Blais made a good decision in recruiting him.
