  1. A big admission from you, Goon. I'm proud of you. You are well on your way to recovery. That's why I call them a purely defensive team. No offense, just goaltending and defense...and a goon (Booooogaard)
  2. Schroeder didn't have the hype Turris did and already think Schroeder is better than Turris... or at least much further along despite the fact he's younger. I guess what really hurts Turris imo is not knowing exactly how good he really is. UW isn't the best place to show off offensive skills. I don't think Schroeder will cool down all that much after the WJC other than the few series immediately following his return. He's clearly a superb hockey player and one I'm sure will drive Sioux fans nuts.
  3. My hunch tells me 5th round to New Jersey.
  4. I just find it interesting that a sieve is commenting on what is and isn't across the line. Connelly sucks and is quite possibly one of the reasons why UW isn't doing as well with the talent they have. After being such a sieve for two years, you'd think he'd know what a goal looks like from his perspective.
  5. I hate to use Sica's favorite four words but.... I.told.you.so. Folks, before the tourney I said that I wouldn't be surprised if MSU and MTU both scored 2 goals against us. Why? Because that's what every team has averaged against us. Giving up 2 goals per game is NOT bad at all. I think most teams at any level would be HAPPY to average that in today's rules and skill levels of players. The problem is offense. We aren't scoring goals. When we do, we score in droves, but that doesn't mean anything. I'd rather win 3 straight games 3-2 than to lose two 2-1 then win the next 10-2. Offensive consistency is a HUGE problem. The fact that it is there sometimes and not there other times does not lead me to believe that it is coaching. If offense hasn't been there all year long (like MTU), then there might be something to the coaching problem. However, the coach can only do so much, and finishing isn't one of those things. Our offense is the issue this year. Our D has been fantastic and, quite frankly, Eidsness has done EXTREMELY well considering his lack of experience. Score goals and we win games. That's where we are at right now.
  6. Seriously? Things could change between now and then, but I don't see a purely offensive team nor a purely defensive team winning it all. It takes balance. That's why I don't think Detroit or Minnesota will win it all. I think the Sharks, at this point, hold the best chance.
  7. I think it is going to be a shootout. I say Detroit wins it 6-5. Toews with 5 points (2g 3a), Kane with 4 points (2g, 2a) and Sharp with 4 points (1g, 3a). I also predict Detroit has a 3 goal lead by halfway through the 2nd period. goaltending takes a hike and Detroit squeaks out a victory in OT. I love Detroit, but I don't trust their goaltending farther than I can throw a ten ton boulder.
  8. Who cares about the hole. Fire Hakstol anyways. Kick Finley off the team! Make LaPoint transfer to UW-Eau Claire! Insert another inane piece of crap here as well!
  9. I'm not sure who was recruiting Cichy. To me, he looks like another VV. Ok offensively, but not flashy. I know we beat out MJ to sign him. He also has a pretty well rounded game. I'm not sure he's necessarily a blue chipper, but he'll be plenty good for the Sioux. I think Kristo was the highly sought after recruit.
  10. Next season. He's next in line for the Finley haters. Him and LaPoint.
  11. Rather watch him than Earl. In who cares game notes: Islanders winger Tim Jackman is from Minot, ND...
  12. NY Chokers vs the NY No Shows? Exciting.
  13. I don't know about that. The Sioux on bad days have crisper passes. A lot of sloppy play as well. If you want an example, look no further than STA's 2nd goal. I'm not sure there would have been that great of a chance if the AHA defenseman hadn't decided to skate in full bore and slide like he's going into home with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. STA's freshman goaltender though looked fairly sharp for how little he played in the game. BTW- Mattson ends the game with an empty netter. The goal itself was nothing special, but he did it with a player basically hanging off of him by the skates. Pretty strong on his skates.
  14. All the rumors of academic troubles have me thinking a lot of Morin being another Adam Pineault. I still think he's going to go Major Juniors, but why he's waiting I don't know.
  15. Viva the Fighting Puce!
  16. Funny. Last year the Gophers didn't have that type of player... this year they do... Next year we get Kristo... a player type we don't have this year. Kindof an eerie similarity, no?
  17. I agree. Hey, look at the hated Gophers. Last year, they sucked and still managed to make the NCAAs (they shouldn't have, but they did). Next year... Wow. Maybe we're copy-catting? I dunno. To me, it doesn't matter. Good year, bad year, I'm still supporting the team 100% and I'm not going to waste my time trying to point fingers at one individual person or small group (such as coaches) when it is the entire team that loses or wins games. I am not going to waste my time shopping around for a wish list of coaching replacements either. Let's face it, keep dreaming. Go Sioux! Beat the Beavers! You beat me to it.
  18. Well let's just try not to get swept by Minnesota
  19. Well, we have a lot of work to do. Easy night for Nolan. 27 saves tonight. Too bad. We should have peppered him.
  20. Hey! Finley got the memo! He at least shoots.
  21. Probably tell the team to SHOOT THE PUCK!
  22. SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT
  23. Game over. Nice game...not.
  24. WHEW!!!! Maybe we'll tie!
  25. Go now. No need to listen to this snooze fest. Goon- Don't jump on the bandwagon of the haters now. brian is right. No offense.
