  1. Holy &^%$. I thought we turned on Hak quickly. The #2 Gophers come into town against unranked UND and we expect to beat them? That would have been nice, but seriously... if you are playing an unranked team and you are in the top 5, you should beat the unranked opponent. Sucks if you are a fan of the unranked opponent, but it is true. We were competitive for a while, that's great. Eventually we'll get better. Right now, we're not good enough to beat the #2 team in the country. Get over yourselves.
  2. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I don't want to see us pitted up against Canada with full knowledge that, even if we play good, we're still going to lose. Last year we played so poorly that I wondered how we even qualified to begin with.
  3. Hey Goon! Since you are in the fantasy market for sieves, might want to pick up Huet. He sieved away a 2 goal lead. Detroit just won in a shootout. Seriously, everyone talks about how Khabibulin isn't the man in Chicago because somehow Huet is. Why? What did he do in Montreal that made him so special? IIRC, he had a 5 hole like Tommy Salo... about as big as Texas. I'm half mistaken, as that title belongs to Turco, but seriously... I hate Patrick Roy and Hasek, though I'm a fan of his, pissed me off with all his dramatics. Nevertheless, I miss them terribly. I can't remember the last time I watched a dominant goaltending performance in an NHL game. UPDATE: Nevermind... I have watched Brodeur play this season. He definitely doesn't suck. Too bad he's injured. Nabokov is pretty good too. Maybe NHL goaltending is going the way of NL Pitching talent... downhill. WOW, I'm bitter.
  4. In any case, passing is still a problem. Hitting the net is a problem. We missed something like a zillion shots. PS Door POTG is Brad Eidsness 33 saves, 13 in the 3rd period.
  5. I call this a 6 point weekend. We beat Harvard twice (4pts), we beat ourselves (1pt), and we beat the refs (1pt)
  6. want all you want. UND NEEDS another.
  7. FRATTIN!!!! For a disappointment, Frattin's doing well. Another assist for the one who should be benched as well.
  8. Yane must be at the game. Toews just scored on the radio. We're somehow still in this game. We need to make it work.
  9. TOEWS!!!!!! YaneA is right!
  10. UND PP. HU Ref pissed.
  11. UND is trying to lose now.
  12. I think we'd be doing a lot better if we were hitting the net with our shots. We are barely hitting the end boards with our shots.
  13. defensive breakdown. 3-2 HU Now we're going to really be tested. Will we now fold?
  14. Hextall going back to the box. I think the ref thinks he's a teacher. "I'll teach Hextall a lesson."
  15. I actually think we're outshooting Harvard. The problem is about 80% of our shots aren't requiring a goaltender to save the puck.
  16. TH is wondering why Hextall is being called for interference. The reason why he was called was because HU got the last penalty call. ECACHL officials in full blown HU support mode. Can't get embarrassed twice in a row.
  17. wide of the net.... seems like that's the story of the night so far.
  18. Tied. I can't tell much via the radio, but UND isn't playing well. We need to start lighting some fires.
  19. 1:33 time of first pp shot. We didn't do well in that power play
  20. Were all these penalties legit? I missed the first period.
  21. Canada can be arrogant when it comes to the WJC, at least against USA. They've owned us for as long as I can remember. We only won recently thanks to a fluke by MA Fleury. Sure, their arrogance is aggravating, but they have backed up their arrogance. It's not like UMich's arrogance for a while. They haven't won anything in hockey since what.. 1998? Minnesota prior to their repeat DI championships is another example of arrogance without anything to back it up.
  22. I can give one reason: 1. Gives the Hak-detractors more cause because Mario isn't playing. I predict UND wins 3-2. Heh... I think Harvard will get 1 goal in the 1st period and their second in the 2nd period. UND will get their first to tie up the game either very late in the first or very early in the 2nd period. Harvard will lead 2-1 with 10 minutes left in the game. Between the 5 and 10 minute mark Marto will tie it up. Frattin will notch the game winner off a rebound from the point made by Genoway. And I also predict our first period to be ugly. Probably because Harvard will come out flying and UND will inevitably have a let down for a while. How's that for an off the hook prediction? UPDATE: Let's take this a bit farther. So the detractors have something to talk about, Harvard's first goal comes on the powerplay after Malone stands up for Eidsness after a Harvard player sprays BE with snow. The second goal is off of a turnover where LaPoint is trying to maintain the pressure started by UND's first goal of the game and misplays a bounce off the boards. This starts an odd man rush and Harvard beats BE shortside. (If I am correct about ANY of this, I will be SHOCKED!)
  23. I just hope we don't get embarrassed like we have for so many years. I understand Canada dominance, but I really think we should medal.
  24. I know the word "Cheap" has been used, but could someone give me a run down of what transpired at the end of the game that has us talking of fights? It apparently includes Fienhage and Davidson (and some Harvard players), but that's all I know. And yeah, I'm too lazy to scroll back in the thread and search for it. Thanks for your indulgence.
  25. The Red Wings are not infallible. Unfortunately, our defense isn't very good in our own zone and Osgood is showing this year, FINALLY, just how overrated he really is. Oh wait. He already showed that while with the Islanders and...IIRC the Blues? Who cares. Whatever it is, Detroit better be careful or they'll be in the realm of Colorado in the goaltending department. I really like Conklin as a backup. However, Osgood is not a great goaltender. Good, yes. Great? No. By the way, he really is the poster child of what happens to a goaltender when the team in front of him is dominant on a consistent basis.
