  1. I'd like to modify Andrea's message: Merry Christmas to all Sioux fans and even the random CLOSET SIOUX (aka Gopher) fans that like to hang out here.
  2. You.just.can't.let.it.rest!
  3. Why thank you brian. I had been trying to forget all about that game for some time now. Good point, dagies.
  4. It's amazing to me how Cornell can get all these nice recruits like Riley Nash, Craig, Iles, McKee, LeNeuveau, etc. and not really have anything to show for it.
  5. Absolutely. To me, the key will be to get the momentum early in the game. The best way to do that is to score right away. Also, scoring 3 or more goals wouldn't hurt. Like I said, I wouldn't at all be surprised if MSU dropped 2 goals on us minimum. 3 Maximum. OH! And I don't care how bad or good MSU's powerplay is, I don't want to find out. STAY OUT OF THE BOX!
  6. Good question! I don't recall hearing anything about other schools recruiting him. Then again, up until he committed, I never heard of Oshie. Anyone have the link to the HFBoards showing the posts those people posted when Oshie was drafted? I think it was all on the variation of "Who the EFF is Oshie?"
  7. I thought the compensatory pick was for this upcoming draft? And it looks like Blake made the right choice, even if it did make him look like a horse's backside. By the way: I'll say it again: Wheeler is making me eat crow. He surely is playing well at the NHL level. I still can't figure out where it came from. He was alright in juniors and at the U, but not at the same prowess he's showing in Boston.
  8. Yeah, I hope so. Perhaps because Ottawa sucks so badly that Lee will finally get an opportunity to stick up at the NHL long enough to actually develop at that level. They need a puck moving defenseman but they are unwilling to let Lee become that.
  9. I think you overestimate how bad the bottom tier of the CCHA really is. MTU is pretty bad this year, but at least they swept NMU. That's why Miami goes into the post season with a ton of hype and falls flat on their face. Heck, the fact that, from top to bottom, the WCHA is more competitive means that I'll venture a prediction that, unless Miami plays a CHA or AHA team in the NCAAs, SCSU will get an NCAA win before Miami does. The CCHA is Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, and, on occasion, MSU. There's always a blip made by UNO or tOSU, but that's about it.
  10. What's so funny? Canisius and RIT are dangerous in Atlantic Hockey. He never said they'd hold a candle to any of the bigger conference teams.... Although they might be able to beat half of the CCHA, the lower half of the ECACHL, and perhaps Tech.
  11. Maybe so, but they are the most relevant AHA team. I can't think of another AHA team that could possibly compete against the WCHA... other than Sacred Heart on Friday.
  12. He also had an assist. The Empty netter wasn't that big of a deal. The assist was beautiful. Having watched the game, it was very interesting to see it happen. The Canucks were very preoccupied with Toews and Kane. Sharp and Ladd had opportunity after opportunity. Truthfully, Vancouver outplayed Chicago badly. Especially in the third period. Amazingly Huet didn't suck. It's the first time I've ever been able to claim that Huet actually played like an NHL goaltender. There were MANY missed calls, including one that would have sent Toews to the box for tripping. I couldn't believe it. Overt, right in front of the ref and Toews didn't even try to hide it. No call.
  13. I can't imagine what UND would be like if they were in the AHA. Sure, we'd probably be undefeated in conference, but what would that prove? We'd probably get skunked in non-conference games against the WCHA, HEA, and the top 2 or 3 CCHA teams. We wouldn't get real top tier recruits... They are very much on par with the WCHA even on down years. That being said, I can't help but like Air Force.
  14. Serviceable against AHA opponents. But, alas, perhaps that's what CC needs... I dunno.
  15. I'm sieving myself on this one. First, I noticed how Scott Owens slept on his statement and decided that O'Connell wouldn't see the ice against Sacred Heart at least on Friday and he was lucky. I didn't watch this game. I couldn't, but it HAD to be a terrible game for CC. CC only faces 28 shots and lets 2 of them in. Sacred Heart faces 44 and lets only 2 of them in. Second, I doubt Owens can let Bachman sit tonight. CC is unbelievably in a must win situation against a team like CC. As for Sacred Heart, they should consider Friday's game a HUGE victory for them. After all, their starting goaltender entered the game with a GAA of over 3.70 and a save percentage UNDER .890!!!!
  16. I didn't say nor wish to imply it will be a cakewalk. I'm saying that it should be a win. Whether that happens or not is up to fate. I don't think any game is a cakewalk unless it is exhibition. Exhibition games can be cakewalks because even if you lose, the only thing really lost is some face (opposing fans will have something they can tease you about). If it counts it matters.
  17. Forgot about the counselor! Good point!
  18. I am around 6th Graders all of the time and I can say that, depending upon the school simply stating "I don't agree with your position" (assuming you state it just like that) might work. It all depends upon the teacher. This topic, unless talking about current events in 21st Century Native American culture, doesn't belong in the classroom. So, what I'd do is simply this: State that you do not agree with the teacher's opinion. Do not antagonize the teacher at all. Use as much respect as humanly possible including voicing the opinion that the teacher's opinion is a valid one despite your disagreement. Then let it drop. If you want to make an issue of this and if the teacher wishes to continue arguing about the topic, then you take it home to your parents. Then ask your parents to contact the teacher. If the teacher still persists, then you take it again to your parents and ask your parents to contact the school's administrator. 1. Taking on the teacher will not work. You will marginalize yourself and make yourself out to being the snotty whining kids that always cause trouble. Unfortunately, that's how 6th grade rolls these days. Use respect and be prepared to be disagreed with. Then drop the issue. 2. Do not go directly to the Principal. The Principal will more than likely send you back to talk to your teacher, and that knowledge (you went to the Principal first) will get back to your teacher and it will bite you in the backside. 3. Taking it home to the parents is KEY if things should persist. Parents have a huge voice in the schools. Though parents aren't always right and sometimes work against the educational system, 95% of the time, their intervention causes change for the better. That's why there are all these informational sites, literature, and sometimes even commercials talking to parents about getting involved in their child's schools. 4. Do not expect things to change fast. In fact, things might not outwardly change at all. In the scope of education, unfortunately, this is small fish. It might simply be better just to just tune it out. Everything is relative. To make an issue of this type of issue is going to put you on a tight rope. One misstep and you get yourself in a world of trouble.
  19. MSU and MTU are bitten with the injury bug. I'd say MSU is a bit worse off. Michigan is dangerous and I feel is the only real threat to UND on paper. MSU has a good goaltending tandem (Jeff Lerg will undoubtedly start. He has a 2.87 GAA and .912 Save% on the season despite his w/l record). They have Jeff Petry as the only really outstanding defensive talent. Gentile isn't bad. No one on defense is much to talk about. At Forward, Senior Matt Schepke is their leading goal scorer (7g 3a, 10p) and is tied for leading the team in points with senior Tim Crowder. Freshman Daulton Leveille is second with 8pts. There's really nothing more to say than this. I think UND can easily beat MTU and MSU. The question is Michigan.
  20. I think Michigan will give us a run for our money. MSU will be a win, but I do believe they'll score 2-3 goals on us. Why? Because, on average, that is how many goals we give up per game. I think we'll score much more. MSU is basically a goaltender (Lerg) and a young, but up and coming winger (Leveille). I suppose they have a good defenseman as well, but he might be injured in Jeff Petry. That's it. They are banged up at defense and lost one defenseman to juniors, so they have no depth and are very thin there to boot. I watched MSU vs. UNO (ok, listened to it on the radio) as well as watched MSU play Miami on NHL Network or ESPN U (I can't remember). They're not very good at all. To me, it is and is not Comley. It isn't Comley's game tactics. It is Comley's recruiting. Most of these guys aren't DI talent at least at this time. They're slow, not very talented at all. If any of the players were to transfer to big time programs like BC, Michigan, UND, UMN, etc. they'd probably be 3-4th liners if they started games. Many would fill roles like Brent Davidson does for UND. So, to sum up, this year, MSU is the best DII/DIII team in DI. Will they stay that way? No. Some of it is due to youth, but this year, it's not fun to be a Spartan fan. And yeah, even better in this regard than MTU (sorry MEg). And again, this is my OPINION. It isn't to be misinterpreted as an expert's analysis.
  21. what a turnaround regarding Finley.
  22. NHL Network has it at 4 assists. Stafford also got a goal tonight, though the highlights made it look like he actually scored two. Toews nearly pots a game winner. Instead, the rebound off of his bad angle shot is banged home for the winner. Toews still gets an assist in the game.
  23. Well, with personal attacks going on, I'm wondering if this will be the quickest game thread closure? Seriously... Glad we won. Didn't matter, but it was nice.
  24. please. lip service to a BAD Sacred Heart team. Seriously, I think Owens is wondering if O'Connell is even worth #2 on the roster card. This game will prove it. Otherwise, this is a meaningless article. Sacred Heart isn't Bemidji State or Niagara. This isn't the same CC team that lost to them those years ago.
