I love this! As for YellowDog, let's cut him a break! I mean, only people who have no wit or talent make posts like that. Besides, what would an SCSU fan retort about our NC record? It would be something like "Yeah, yeah...well... YOUR MOM!" So the easy way is to root for MN to surpass us in NCs. He's merely taking it out on us because he can't stand being uncreative and that he's just jealous of PCM's hair... or schmitty and SFiP's sparkling repertoire of repostes.

Ref says who got the goal when he skates by the scorer's table. My impression iis that those people add assists. I've watched Campion and other refs perform this duty but he doesn't mouth or sign any assists to my knowledge. I say sign because usually the ref will sign the goal scorer's number with his fingers.

I read somewhere that Coole stepped on the ice in Duluth as a freshman and let in a great amount of goals in a short amount of time or low amount of shots and left the ice and never played again with UMD. I don't have specifics though. What about this Boron dude?

Ok, Friday's another big game in the start of a big series. I thought last weekend was the series to beat, but I'm not so sure. The Gophers just aren't playing like the Gophers right now. However, the SCSU Huskies are playing very good. USCHO predicted a Bulldog sweep over the Puppies and the Puppies swept. I think this says one of two things: 1) UMD didn't play well at all and SCSU got all the good bounces in two straight games -or- 2) SCSU is a lot better than EVERYONE thinks. #2 could mean trouble for the Sioux if we get too cocky or arrogant. We scored 12 goals last weekend. I doubt we'll make 10 goals scored by both teams combine this weekend on both nights. By the way, Maine split, so we'll probably be #1 ranked. To be honest, I don't want the #1 ranking.

You know, I truly think Parise proved this weekend just how much better than he is than Vanek. Getting mugged at every turn and still putting up points. He gets in the nitty gritty all the time while Vanek tries to work the finesse. True, that's European in style of play, but if he plays like this, Vanek is going to have an NHL career plagued by poor performances based on the fact that the NHL is getting more physical. If he can't get in the play, he won't be on the ice much. I have no doubt Vanek is good, but this was a big series and he got out performed by players who were drafted later than he was.

He's really a great leader morale-wise. I underestimated him... again.

I stated previously how I thought some MN folks would say that Ballard and the other due would make all the difference. However, I think that, looking back, it may have only really mattered in the Saturday game. Froday, quite bluntly (looking at the boxscore and first hand accounts), was a Sioux blowout. I don't think either of them could have had a large effect on the game much rather, probably making the loss a lot closer. We swept. The series is over. We got to worry about SCSU. They've beaten everyone so far, including a very tough UMD team. BTW- How do you think UM feels about SCSU sweeping the team that swept them? Very interesting, no?

Patrick Roy wandered quite a bit. I agree with Diggler, but I have to say that so far, Brandt and JParise have been lucky that nothing bad has happened. As for Siembida.... that issue is pretty dead. I think Saturday was a big victory for JParise. Now, it wasn't dominating. He isn't Schweitzer or Goehring. However, he did get the job done. I think he has really solidified himself as #2. Kinda tough when I think Ziggy is good too. I may actually have confidence in net this season! Let's keep it up!

Don't be. Minnesota, undoubtedly watched videos of our previous games and noticed how BC had success drawing penalties by diving. Grant dove because it is easy to make a check look cheap from Greene and Schmitt doesn't like Greene (though not nearly to the extent Shep and Anderson do). Trying to take advantage of this?

I missed this weekend and I heard it was a great game but this stuff is hardly unexpected. The whole reason the letter was issued was because it was the Gopher series. There was going to be more fair weather fans in the building. It was an attempt to give those fair weather fans a good time without too much interference so to speak. Also, there were a few fans who travelled to see the games and their enjoyment is important. That not withstanding, It was done as a preemptive strike on the students to "remind them who's boss." Remember that this is the NEW REA. The deal with the Old Ralph is done. Student Government actually bought those seats in the Old Ralph and then gave the tickets away in a first come first serve basis. We knew that and so did the public. That's why we got away with so much. Every time someone would complain, the AD would hold up their hands and say "They bought the section. Their part of the building, theirs to do with it as they please." There were still rules and UND policy that was upheld (no booze for example) but we had the freedom we all loved. Maybe we got too spoiled, but it was how it should be. Those days are over. It's too much of a business now. It is time to work towards making what we got work and push for what we should get when we can. It can get worse. Remember, Ralph is dead. It is largely us (students and pro-student public) vs them (anti-student public and seemingly REA management) and the AD is stuck in the middle. Of course, since we pay significantly less than the public, the AD has to side a lot with the season ticket holders who fall into the anti-student crowd. These letters make that crowd understand that they are doing something. It could just be veiled threats (which I think they are. Nothing but green and white smoke) meaning nothing, but they will never know it. Don't worry about this letter folks.
