  1. It is Fuher, not Fuhrer.... Fuhrer sounds more German and negative really... And I'm not jealous. Only forecheck would eye some dude who has longer hair than most of the women I've seen at UND
  2. As a cubs fan, I can wish you the best as a Penguins fan. They're gonna be the cellar dwellars for a while... as long as the money is not there anyways. It's sad to say this, but what does the future hold for Pittsburgh? No one comes to the games, no one cares. No money. Doesn't bode well for them. If I were Andy Schneider with too much time on my hands, I'd worry about that draft status or hope for a trade.
  3. I know it was said in the heat of the moment, but it was hilarious. I wish I could have directly quoted you but I couldn't remember what exactly you said. Yes, context was in reference to the move Nick made, but it was even more hilarious out of context. Thanks for being such a good sport, but I will delete my post if you want me to. Anyways, best moves I would think were made by Genoway and Parise though. Genoway's didn't result in much, but it was really cool to watch. He hit the puck with the back curve of his stick blade and spun around a defender. The puck squirted over the blue line from under the defender. It was really neat. And Parise's scoring chance... WOW what stick handling. If that was a goal, I think it would have even made Sportscenter But probably not. If Parise wore #11 for BC then, yes.
  4. I think we have to worry about every game now that we are #1. As for UW and UAA, I think we'll do fine against UAA. It's UW we have to worry about. We know their goalie's weaknesses, but this year it is getting to the goalie that has been Wisconsin's biggest strength. Their dmen are very very good. And their O has speed. Speed kills folks. I think they MAY not lose another game until we meet. I'm hoping we can survive.
  5. I agree to a certain extent, but let's put it this way: Image. People around here view the WCHA as near-NHL level play. So they hold players and coaches accountable for what happens on the ice. Though it is different when the team loses and nobody calls for Blais' head (which would happen in the NHL), there are some factors that are hard to ignore. In the NHL, if you put a PP on the ice as lack luster as ours is right now, coaches start getting put on the hot seat and even an assistant coach could get the heave-ho for it. I'm not callign for Hakstol or Berry's jobs, but I am saying that a team this good and with this depth cannot possibly look this bad on the powerplay. It's supposed to be an advantage for us to be up a man or two that we should be able to score. After last year, when we hardly had any powerplays, our percentage was a lot better because of the lower numbers. This year we are getting far more powerplays than last year. I think we will come around. As for Campion, I think we should really be nicer to the guy. Yeah, he missed some really obvious calls, but I see officiating here to be a complain regardless occupation. Here, if the ref calls everything, we get down his throat about not allowing us to play hockey. But if he doesn't call all the plays we think he is not doing his job. One thing you must remember: Campion is CONSISTENT. Good or bad, he is possibly the only consistent ref in the WCHA. Plus he's a nice guy In any case, Mike Schmitt is reffing the Subway Tourney and then calling it quits in the WCHA. We won't see Campion again until the Michigan Tech series (I think that is in Michigan). Daddy Sheperd said that he wasn't going to replace Mike this season.
  6. UMD does have a potential bigtime alumni to help financially: Brett Hull. He even keeps a home in Duluth! Tap him. He's worth the bucks. Hell, I'd love to go see a UMD vs UND game in Hull Arena
  7. It is hard to keep the faith that she is alive, especially when one looks at statistics of living through abduction. I really cannot say those stats, because I saw them some time ago (which means that the actual numbers are obsolete anyways). I guess I would like to make a post saying "Screw statistics, welcome home Dru." But every day it seems to get more and more bleak. Siouxrock- Your sources are incorrect. They've already DNA matched some of the blood found as being Dru's.
  8. He will put the line back together for the hype alone, I'm sure. It is intimidating when you have three top notch players all on one line. If I weren't so brain dead from trying to get this project done, I'd venture into explaining my reasons for this. But yes, I'd expect the line to reunite. Maybe not for the UAA series, but definitely for subsequent series against opponents that could cause the Sioux problems.
  9. I am a fan of both college and NHL hockey, but I prefer college hockey better. I think, though, that ones enjoyment of the game comes with how much effort you wish to put forth in rooting for whichever team is playing. In the NHL, I find I am very picking in watching games. If I don't like either team, the game is hard to watch. For example: Try watching the New York Rangers vs Colorado Avalanche. To me, this matchup sucks. I dislike both teams. In college hockey, it's much different. It's why I prefer college sports over pro sports in general. Players are playing for tommorrow. They can't slack off because they never know when a scout will be watching them, regardless of whether or not they know a scout is at the arena at all. They want to keep playing and those who don't do not get ice time. Also, the players have a guaranteed fanbase. No fan base is more adament for their team than a college athletics program (You could make arguments about the Packers, Cubs, Yankees, and Lakers, but even sociologists who have studied fans and their teams do not understand some of that (Cubs for example. Explain why almost perenial cellar dwellers always sell out on season tickets?)). College students have ownership in the college teams because the athletes are students as well. All of this builds an atmosphere. P.S. To the fellow who talked about the 'new' teams and not being able to get into them: One should note that the Hurricanes, Coyotes, and Avalanche are not new teams. The Hurricanes used to be the Hartford Whalers. The Phoenix Coyotes used to be the Winnipeg Jets. The Avalanche used to be the Quebec Nordiques. Even the Stars used to be the Minnesota North Stars. So, I wouldn't really call Minnesota's team a "new team" either.
  10. Regardless of what happened this weekend (I wasn't there on Friday GRRR. EVEN CAMPION noticed I wasn't there!) we have breaking news! forecheck has a new flame! That's right! Let's recap: Earlier this season, Wookiee crushed her heart by shaving his glorious locks of brown hair leaving him, well, just looking like just some guy. This disheartened forecheck to no end. Fellow posters wondered "Would she ever move on?" Well, she has. Who is this latest fellow who has caught her fancy? Why... NICK FUHER! Sources say that they overheard her referring to the defenseman as a hunk of meat. Onlookers were baffled due to the fact that Nick does not sport the hair that Wookiee once adorned. So, forecheck, wherever you are, inquiring minds want to know: How hot does the flame burn for number 8?
  11. Why is anyone surprised at all about what happened on ESPN? Don't you get it? They don't care! I couldn't believe they picked up coverage of the game at all! They did it in 2001. Don't know if they did it last year. They did it this year. And they'll do it next year. They only picked up coverage because it was a national championship game. They wanted to have the corner on that market since they couldn't get the Super Bowl (doesn't ABC have the Super Bowl, Fox has the World Series?) If they actually cared, there would not be any of this and the shock and disappointment would be truly warranted. I say feel good you got any of the game to watch on ESPN. Those losers are typical idiots.
  12. Diggler, let's form a posse. We'll show up at the games and just kick those people in our seats out. Maybe we can get green blazers so that we look "official"
  13. Well, what comes by grace leaves by a slap in the face. The line is fine and tolerance is short. Gosh, I should be a poet! Anyways, too bad about the GVSU football site. Maybe he'll lift the ban. Maybe not.
  14. I found that quote par for the course. I think he wanted to slam UND without directly insulting us. He's trying to show that he has intelligence, which is something he'll have to have because he won't have much of a future in the NHL. It is rare to find a player in the NHL under 5'8" on skates. There are a few, or were, but it is pretty rare statistically. I think UAA is where he belongs. He'd be third or fourth line now at best anyways if he stayed on the Sioux.

    BCS

Couldn't be the "Championship" Bowl. Needs a sponsor. How about the Time-Warner AOL Microsoft WInston Salem Bowl?
  16. The Bahama flag is cool! Nice site.
  17. Only one ticket per student or can you get one for your buddy?
  18. Bold predictions by the Gophers still thinking threepeat. Fournier is only 5' 6" tall? Man, that's how tall I am! I should've played hockey. Is that on skates or off skates? Dumb Bench minor. Who cares about naming that line. Whoohoo, Run DMC line. Blah.
  19. Ok, the light in my apartment makes the home and away games look the same. I misread the schedule. Replace SCSU with UAA then.
  20. Foyt's improved! Federov will be pleased! I still forecast Bina getting the ice time this weekend though.
  21. Question: I do not know much about polling and stuff, but if there is a strength of schedule index or something, wouldn't the Gophers getting better make UND look better too? I mean, if they went the way of Notre Dame did in football, I would think it would hurt UND, whereas if they turned on the jets (and we still swept them in January), that has to help UND.

    Queries

Alright, I found out that Wayne State, Findlay, and Brown are coming the 27th and 28th but I have questions regarding student tickets. I know that there are no reserved seats for this tourney and the student tix cost $6 a game or thereabouts. I am wondering does anyone know if there is going to be assigned seating anyways or is it going to be just first come, first serve for the tourney with no real student section? Second, January 2-3 SCSU contest. For all you student season ticket holders, did you all get tickets for this series? I can't find tickets for it and I am wondering if it didn't come with the package. If they did not, I have the same question with this series: What is the seating arrangement going to be?
  23. I'm saying, truthfully now, that UND will winn 31 - 28. These are both great offenses and so they will shine even if the sun does not on Saturday. I also predict that UND will have is when they win it on a Glas field goal. I think GVSU knows that the only way they are going to win is to hit hard and hit early. I talked to an offensive lineman for the Sioux this morning and he seemed very eager to play and optimistic for the win. I couldn't get him to elaborate his thoughts on GVSU though. I wish him and the entire team luck. If the team consists of as good of guys as that lineman is, we have a classy team.
  24. French is basically the official language of Quebec, so the fact that Jr. Lessard is not very good at English comes as no surprise. I would have loved to watch the interview though. Wonder if he has learned any English exclamations like Vanek has
