Hmmm Alabama Hunstville, Air Force Academy has a team... Is Chicago south of Omaha? If so, their NHL franchise historically has been very popular (currently not so much but if you knew the owner...). Las Vegas even has a hockey following, though it was for much more different circumstances (and also there is Ralph's connection there). Even Dallas folks come to see them play. St Louis too. So yes, people do care about hockey. I wish it was more on the popular front. Can't stand basketball on Sportscenter.

I'm old. I graduated from Fargo South in 1995. Wilson was even my gym teacher when I was in 8th grade. He was an ok guy except that he allowed anything to go on in the locker rooms, so I got bullied a lot

..... Huskies are playing well, but they aren't THAT good.

Alright, my computer screwed up so here's attempt number two at this post. We won, but here are my thoughts: The first line and Massen were not playing well (or hard). Canady was also doing a lot of stick-checking which isn't very good. Massen didn't have hustle at all. If he is not 100 percent yet, then I suggest he not play unti SCSU series. Players who were on their game for the Sioux: Quinn Fylling (1G, 1A) and Robbie Bina (1A). Fylling's goal was the play of the game with Greene's setup pass to McMahon and Porter's unbelievable goal from his knees being the runner up. Bina was all over the place. For a small kid, he knocked people around. He blocked another shot and he always seemed to have great positioning on D. He had several SOG and he really looked confident teamed up with Schneider (who wouldn't?). Federov- Foyt played and got ice time. Not enough though to really make an impact, but he did make some good moves in the offensive zone. Humorous Moment of the Game: During intermission, those dudes who shoot shirts into the stands using an air gun got one into the press box (or pretty darn close). Pat, did it come your way? Runner up: The dude with the mistletoe. He succeeded three times (once on jumbotron). He also got to harass the refs with it. Annoying Fan of the game: The dude who stole Forecheck's puck. Randy Schmidt says that the puck was for Forecheck and tosses it her way. It falls down and he retosses it and some dude grabs the puck from just outside Forecheck's reach. What a jerk. To make matters worse, he gets a hat from those jokers who fly the blimps.Runner Up: The dude who was sitting behind me. He was really drunk. When he wasn't distracting me away (I missed the double minor penalty to Murray because of him) from the game he was yelling in my neighbor's ear about how ge got drunk at the Ralph even though he's underage. He even recited the numbers off his fake id. That part wasn't annoying really, but distracting fans away from the game is. Scariest Moment of the game: Randy Schmidt's injury. 4 stitches. a LOT of blood for 4 stitches. Puck or a stick caught him right above the right eye (I think it was the right eye). Runner Up: Parise slid hard into the boards and was slow getting up. He turned out (to appear) ok. What the heck call of the game: Double minor to Murray while Grimaldi (U-18) only gets 2 minutes. Don't have specifics on this one but Grimaldi bulldogged Murray (I assume it was Murray) and then the drunk guy hits me on the shoulder and says "Di' I njurr you?" Bastard. Anyways, how do you instigate a penalty and end up better off than your opponent? Bogus. Players who impressed me on the U-18 team: Hegemo, Pearce, and there was one other but I didn't get his number ( ). Pearce (the backup goaltender for today's game) was right on and made some fabulous saves. Hegemo (who is going to Minnesota next year) was very good although he did not get a point.) Players who I was not impressed with on the U-18 team: Carlson (starting goalie), and all their top scorers. Carlson, in warmups, looked very sharp and ended up giving up all the goals. He even got beaten 5 hole on an unbelievable goal by Porter. He has potential to move on, but he'll either have to go DIII or to a juniors team for a year or so to hone his skills. The top scorers I don't think even touched the puck to my knowledge. Lerg did take a faceoff but none of the others were eye catching on the ice. Overall, I was impressed by this team. They hung in there better than Concordia or even Yale did. The saddest thing is that there was no good mocking going on. How do you mock a team with "USA" on their jerseys? You really can't. Even theSieve chant kinda petered out. That's all I can think of right now.

After reading the article, maybe incorrectly, wasn't one of those two cleared after prescription meds altered the test?

Your jokes will always play second fiddle to Mapletoft.

Oh and by the way, last night, the Red Wing's power play looked a LOT like ours. Wow. Purdy bad for the number 1 offense in the NHL...

I'm getting sick. I swore Kermit wrote "I thought Mario Lemieux was a 9th grader."

Didn't our points leader break 250 points? If that's so, Bo may come up short. But I don't care. He's on pace for 60 points this season. That leaves only 40 points between ZP and Brady. Looks like 100 points for the first line isn't completely out of question. As for 100 goals, no prediction here, but it would be a BLAST to see that line produce 100 goals.

Paul Martin made NHL Intermission Report last night during the Wings-Blues game. He scored a goal and got an assist. Ended the night at +2. Hale didn't score any points but ended the night on an even +/-. KG is the bomb. 2 time All American, 4 time All academic. 4.0 in Marketing at UND. The dude could wake up tommorrow and (heaven forbid) hang up his skates and he'd probably be hired on the spot by Columbus to work in their front office. Needless to say, he's going to be around for quite a while.
-
Don't let him fool you. Mapletoft owes me money. Anyways, he writes the schedules on a cocktail napkin from the local establishment on the "Island" every year. Yup. Then Michael Peca blows his nose using the schedule and bingo.

It's a rumor, because I'm thinking that the Morelands (both of them) will end up at SCCC. It's the Lammareaux (pardon me please for my poor spelling of this name) that will probably all come to UND if they can.
-
Anyways, as for Genoway, take away the points and just look how he plays. Between last year and this year he is two different players entirely. Almost like Fylling. Both are playing out of their minds
-
I have no doubt about that, but what about goaltending? SCCC seemes to have found a solid group of netminders. or at least they get the puck to bounce the right way for them. They were tough. I'll be stressed for that series

You quoting Woody Allen makes me concerned for your daughter... oh, wait. That was his step daughter, wasn't it?

Next year. This year, sore arses on wooden benches

In all fairness, I would agree about baseball and (for now) basketball and volleyball. The Hyslop is a dump. That's just how I feel. It's a confusing building that the only sense of it is to those who made the building. It remains the only building on UND's campus that I still can't figure my way around. We are building a new bball and vball facility. We will possibly have a new swimming and diving facility in 2-5 years. If you ask me, the new sports complex is fine, but I think we should implode Hyslop and rebuild it into a better facility. I've been to Newman field. It's really nice. As for the FargoDome vs Alerus, I think it really makes no difference either way. I've been to both facilities for football and ALerus looks and is newer, but they are pretty equal. Atmosphere is a different argument. Hockey and Wrestling are nonfactors unless you use the bball games at the Ralph as a factor because NDSU has no hockey program. But, it is a great facility. Other than that, I think the assessment is right on.
-
In all fairness, number 2 doesn't count. It may be freezing here, but they play indoors.
-
Who me? If so, nope. I think Brady was only on the Team Canada's radar because of Andy Murray. They really had no intentions to give Brady a slot or they would have asked him already.
-
Are any of those on the Bobcat roster relatives of UND players? I mean there's a Bina and a Schneider and a Noah....
-
SAC has to be the best because they have bombers with nuclear capabilities.... OH! You meant FOOTBALL. I thought you mean Strategic Air Command
-
With some NDSU fans being so pig headed and idiotic, I'm sure many UND fans will not become NDSU football fans simply because they do not want to be associated with such insensitive and idiotic people. I never disliked NDSU more since I started reading the football thread and some of their fans' posts here. Sad that the loudest NDSU fans tend to be misguided fools whose only aim is to make themselves feel superior in some way instead of being sportsman like and bashing UND just for the sake of bashing UND.
-
I care about hockey. And Bison1234, I think you are full of !@$!. You see, you say in an earlier post that you are the first to admit that NDSU isn't the greatest or whatever. Well, I think you are lying. I think UND being better than NDSU this year in several sports is threatening to you. It threatens your identity as a sports fan. So, you attack UND's program and one entirely unrelated to football and this entire thread. I've alwasy known NDSU to be a football school. I will always consider them to be a football school. You can come here and talk smack about our football team and no one will think the wiser, but to talk smack about a sport that your school doesn't have let alone is known for is just low. I do not take offense to you disliking UND. That part is plainly evident and you have your right to be that way. I am offended that you see the need to attack a program that most if not all UND students take pride in very deeply. The NCAA rules were already quoted so you can see we are not pulling any fast ones on the NCAA. We are also not DIAA for various reasons in football that could be debated and was. So we will not be known as a football school. Our loss. But I take pride in our hockey tradition regardless of whether or not you care about hockey. That said, I'd appreciate you either start talking football or leave this board. Talk smack about our hockey team on the NDSU board if you want. Live and let live, pal. There's more to life than bashing a celebrated program.
