I still don't see Reaney being signed by UND. If he was going to be signed, he would have been already. Hakstol probably is interested, but the USCHO report said that he hadn't recieved the deal he wanted. Meaning Hakstol either A) invited him to walk B) offered him a half schollie or C) did something else that didn't involve a schollie the first year (can he promise a schollie for a sophomore season before a player's freshman season?). I would be VERY surprised if Reaney signed with us.

I think Campion and Zelkin are the two refs that will call a good game. However, this is Daddy's WCHA. I don't think this is going to be the case for us. Ok, I'm going to guess who is going to ref which series and see how many I get right: CC series: Zelkin DU series: Campion UW series: Mason UMN series: Hunt UND series: Shepherd That's my guess. Don't think I'll be close, but maybe I can get one right.

First off: 1. If it is TV contracts that entice recruits, then UMN and UW would be the only WCHA teams that would have top end recruits as most would head to Hockey East. I can honestly say that Hockey East's media relations is far superior to the WCHA, but that's about all that is superior to the WCHA. 2. I really don't think that UM and UW really have an edge over teams like CC, DU, or UND anymore. Each school has its own advantages. Some have the city (Denver, UW, UMN), some the facilities (UW and UND), some have great atmosphere, and some have great history (UND, UMN, UW to some extent). There are other issues such as relationship with coaches, game style, and other factors. Yes, sometimes even majors offerred enter into the equation. My opinions

Though originally I was very impressed with JPar's stick handling skills (for a goaltender), I'm no longer confident whenever he handles the puck. This isn't saying I don't like JPar when he gets near the puck. I'm just saying that perhaps he should handle the puck only when there are no other Sioux around that can or when the opportunity for a break out is just too good to pass up. Even a 30 percent drop in his handling the puck along the boards would be an improvement. That being said, this "Leave it to the D" attitude is catching on. The AHL has already implemented a rule that basically ensures that. I think the goaltender may only handle the puck within a certain zone behind the red line outside of his crease. They say it has been successful in creating more offense. WHo knows.

How naive. Comely may be a moron but he's not an idiot. Everyone knows that hockey players drink. Even idiots know that underage drinking is commonplace in the Universities. I could rant and rave and possibly piss (even) more of you off on this topic. However, what I'm saying is, drinking isn't the main issue that got him kicked off the team. Thelen is trying to save his name by quoting a mistake. He's looking like a naive fool rather than an mishandled player. My opinion.

I'll agree to this. ESPN's Golden Children: Football: Oklahoma, USC, Florida State, Miami (OK took Michigan's spot) Basketball: Lakers, Duke, Pistons, LeBron, Kobe, and Shaq (last three aren't teams but ESPN doesn't care.) Hockey: Who? ESPN doesn't care about hockey. If they do, they'll begrudgingly favor the Red Wings if no New England team is playing better. Baseball: Red Sox, Yankees, and.....ESPN has yet to figure out that there are other rivalries and other teams.

Isn't JJ the best player on Duke? Duke happens to be a lot like the Detroit Red Wings and the NY Yankees but in a college hoops venue, no? Doesn't excuse the behaviors, but you can't expect sunshine and flowers wherever Duke travels. Besides, even if the fans were all hoitytoity, basketball still sucks.
