  1. Potential pitfalls from both sides: NHL: Owners: "Man, now we have to pay these guys? I was just getting comfortable with the lockout!" What's the hurry? June, January... as long as it is done by the time a month that begins with a J has concluded, that's great. What's the rush? ALl those meetings only made my fantasy baseball team go into disrepair. I'd rather sit at home and watch Sportscenter. NHLPA: Man, we got jacked! I'd rather live high off the hog riding some bus for the Ice Dorks of Dumberstraffen in the German Tier V Semi-Elite Senior Citizen League! Wha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why are we settling for something we could have done 6 months ago? Oh yeah, we're spoiled brats. FILIBUSTER!!!!!
  2. Horse droppings. I won't believe the agreement has been reached until it is already been signed and things start falling in place. I like the NHL, why I don't know, but I have no faith in it any longer. It comes when it comes. If that means tommorrow, great. If it takes until January, great. Either way, it has to actually start for me to believe it is actually back.
  3. Maybe I'll get flamed for saying this, but I'm going to come out and say it: I think Chris made a good choice. I like his reasoning and I agree with it even though we will still be heavy at forward next year. We are only losing Marvin (role player) and Prpich (impact *ouch* player). Greene may be gone after next season or he may leave before next season. Who knows, but if Greene goes before next season, Prpich will be the only impact player we lose to graduation. With question marks like Martens (who could very well turn into another Fabian from the looks of things) and early departures, things could go both ways. Smart move by Chris. It's a move I wish we had the luxury of giving TJ Oshie (not saying TJ couldn't or shouldn't make the team).
  4. Marshall didn't select Chuckie, eh? Well I vote to send that Board of Directors spam messages! Sign their email address to every uh... "discreet" ad agency around with the message "Reconsider Chuckie or get 1000 more Viagra emails!" Of course, I'm kidding, but I'm bummed that Chuckie isn't going to be named.
  5. Wow. UNH or BU got a great recruit! I'm surprised BC is out of the mix. BC has been one of the few that has succeeded in getting SSM talent. Truthfully, if he was to go out east, I'd rather him choose Maine. But, then again, I'm not in that position.
  6. Sicatoka, I've heard that the earliest the NHL could resume would be January of 2006. All this talk of talks and all and a hopeful late start but a start nonetheless is nothing more than talk to keep people's awareness that the NHL has not yet folded. It is a downright disaster (the lockout) and I don't see any resumption of the league without legal intervention.
  7. I am happy to hear that he will be back next year, but I think saying he'll be a four year player right now is a little premature. Tampa Bay has already started pressuring him. Anything can happen between his junior and senior year. I hope nothing happens so he can finish his four year degree. I LOVE watching Smaby play. I mean, Irman was nearly in tears after Smaby cleaned the wax from Danny's ears. I love that. Smaby reminds me so much of Mike Commodore. As for Robbie, Sic and I have the same opinion: Any doc who would clear him after an injury like that should be disbarred. He's done until October 2006 minimum.
  8. Ok, I thought Angelo was a junior, thus making him ineligible for NCAA play until 2006? Or did he accelerate and I didn't know about it (which wouldn't be hard. I didn't know Finley accelerated either.) I never heard anything regarding Angelo's NCAA future. I've always heard about him going to the Q.
  9. Well, we'll see. He's listed under Heisenberg as a 2006 prospect so if he indeed accelerated his schooling, I would think it would have been reflected there, wouldn't it?
  10. Finley and Dowzak are in the same grade.
  11. Sometimes I wonder how they got Borer.
  12. I have seen Dowzak play, but he was probably just named to the varsity team at that time (sophomore in high school) with Shattuck. He was big then. And, IIRC, he was the biggest player on the ice. I thought he was pretty solid, but the game I watched was very strictly officiated so it never got really physical so I don't think I saw him at his best. As for Finley, I'm not sure where he'll end up. It seems to be that we are recruiting both in order to get one. I don't think we'll get both. I also don't think the Gophers have as much of an inside track as you all may think. Certainly, UMN is a top choice of Finley, but BU has been hitting him pretty hard. There may be more incentive for him there rather than at UMN. Lucia seems to be more interested in attracting offensive, mobile defenseman who can turn into good 2 way D. Finley does not fit that type. Sure, you've had DeMarchi and Taylor wearing Maroon and Gold, but there is a reason those types are few and far in between for the Gophers. Who knows? He is from Edina, a place where, according to some, you are expected to blindly root for the Gophers . It would really be nice to get both. Especially with Greene gone after next year (assuming he stays this year) and perhaps Smaby leaving early. Also, the question mark still looms over Bina. Both of these two would really solidify it without Smaby and Greene. Anyways, that's my opinion.
  13. If Motzko is going to replace Dahl, what's stopping Dahl from just foregoing the wait and retiring now?

    CHA

An odd locale, but it may make sense? How close is UAH to Ken State? Could they be travel partners?
  15. I honestly think Moreland has gone by the wayside. Truthfully, if his stock had risen any at all, then I would think that he'd be there instead of Martens.
  16. Since he isn't gone yet, I'd like to know if there is anything I, as an alum, can do to help Kupchella succeed? Does he need help? Should we pass around the hat to fund the "Bribe Marshall Fund?" I feel we aren't doing our part to further Kupchella's Marshall University career.
  17. Gopher expectations aside, why do you even go to GPL anyways? I have only been there once. I'm surprised they have time to fit in anything about Gopher hockey between all the UW and UND bashing that went on in the threads I looked at. GPL is worse than USCHO. At USCHO there seemed to be some attempts to keep threads on topic and not just about bashing one's rivals.
  18. In my honest opinion, a lot of what those analysts say are true. Both sides are correct. I am not sure how much more development Greene can get at UND. On the flip side, it is never a bad thing to get a degree. If unfortunate things happen, Matt can move on. I argued that with Karl Goehring. I am not sure he'll ever play in the NHL (not saying he doesn't deserve to). However, he graduated with honors in marketing. He could go right from the ice to the front office if that is what he wanted to do. Or, if Karl's career were to only last 5-8 more years, then he has something to fall back on. If Matt got his degree, it would be no different. He's covered in case the unfortunate happens or he leaves hockey. I hope he does stay, but even if he does go, I hope he returns during the off season to complete his degree.
  19. Maybe not, but at least you are not defaming the Native Americans. You're just defaming the hippies. Make Love and not War, man!
  20. Has Kuppy left yet?
  21. Yes, I think we could use both of them, but I expect to only have a real chance at one of them. I expect Finley to go to UMN or BU. BU's had a longer shot at him. Dowczak I think we could actually get thanks to Smaby, Toews, and the other Shattuck folks. I'd LOVE to get both and I do believe we could fit both on our roster, but IMAO (In My Amateur Opinion), I believe we only have a shot at one.
