  1. I'm one of those, like Sic, who believe that, with Martens walking on, in order for Oshie to come a year early, one of our forwards must be leaving. Here are unlikely yet possible reasons: 1. <hinted> 2. Brad Miller is staying in the USHL 3. Bina is giving up his scholarship while he's on medical redshirt 4. Drew Stafford just signed with Buffalo 5. Lee Marvin isn't returning to the team 6. Kaip isn't returning to the team. Now, apart from #1 and maybe #2, the rest is horsecrap. Ergo, I'll wait until it is officially announced before I welcome him early.
  2. That's all nice and good, but there are only so many slots. The one thing that Sioux Falls can guarantee him that UND can't necessarily do at this time is one big thing: 1. Immediate and lots of playing time. Sioux Falls (Isn't that Berry or Hakstol's former coaching haunt?) will give him plenty of development. Sure, it's not UND, but there is plenty of developmental opportunities there.
  3. Oh, he will get mugged, but the muggers will get called. They want to protect Kessel because of the attention he'll bring to the WCHA. Zach was good, but he didn't garner that much national attention, or at least the level of attention Kessel is getting. There are, seriously, no other players in the WCHA that the league will deem more important to protect from mugging. So, like I said, Toews will get mugged as well Murray, Pavelski, Sertich, Gauthier, whomever is playing the Gophers, but if Paukovich (not to defend him too much) or Greene or Prpich or whomever touches Kessel, two minutes in the box.
  4. Then you obviously missed Harrington's spearing of Stafford just before the game ended.
  5. They will call it "cracking down" instead of calling it both ways. I can't wait to see it. Prpich will handle Kessel, but undoubtedly he'll spend most of the game in the box because he touched Kessel. Meanwhile Harrington or whoever will clutch, grab, interfere, and perhaps even spear Stafford, Toews, Murray, and Zajac and probably won't get called.
  6. I doubt it. I find it surprising that Minnesota's class is ranked lower than UND, though. 100 to 1 odds that the #1 class belongs to Michigan. 50 to 1 that it is BC. The thing that those listed have in common is that all of the schools mentioned are west of Ann Arbor, where hockey just doesn't exist.
  7. Fargo South was the best high school in the state between 1992 and 1995 because yours truly graced its halls. After that, meh.
  8. In the CHA? If Zajac went to BSU I'm sure he'd break the century mark in points. If he went to the AHA, well, he could have a season that would have been astounding but proved really nothing. Reaney didn't become a Sioux because he didn't want to walk on or get even a partial. He had full schollies on the table and he chose Niagara (Not Viagra) out of those who gave him offers (Merrimack and UAF the other two).
  9. Did you see something I haven't yet or did I miss a post (as I am prone to do). I do not recall hearing about Greene signing. Until he signs, though I expect he may, I'm not willing to count out our D Corps. I am feeling better about Alexander knowing he is a walk on. This is a good thing. This means that we can still pursue Dowzak, Ammerman, and/or Hardwick for the 2006 season without worrying about scholarships. I do believe that we are short on Dmen and Alexander can't hurt us really. No point in being disappointed in his size. He can't help that. The question I have is why do we need another forward?
  10. I must be doing the numbers wrong because that makes us incredibly forward heavy. It also pretty much guarantees Oshie and Vandevelde will be in the USHL next year. Unless I'm wrong, which I usually am when it comes to numbers. And calling me Hammy is pretty low.
  11. 100 to 1 he's next season's Scotty Foyt (although I think Foyt was a better prospect). He'll likely not play a whole lot. Hopefully we didn't waste a schollie on him. I feel there were better D out there.

Yes they did. And with Frazee coming in, we're not going to have that luxury much this next season.
  13. I hope all this publicity of Zach's missed goal doesn't chink his self confidence. There are articles about this all over the place. Thank goodness he doesn't view USCHO boards. They dedicate entire threads to berating him now. To me, honestly, I've seen about 10 penalty shots in my viewership of pro hockey (which I realize is quite a bit more limited than a lot here) and I've only seen maybe 4 goals come out of it. Penalty shots are exciting, sure, but it's not like they happen all that often and that they are always an easy goal. Zach missed. Life goes on. He'll still be an NHL player (if the NHL comes back until it will probably fold in 5 years) and he'll be a good one.
  14. Someone's a little hostile.
  15. We're talking 2008 here folks with little Murray and little Toews. By that time Brady will be gone and there's no doubt Jon will be as well.
  16. Ok, despite the fact that it is lobbying to the wrong crowd, what is wrong with this? WOuld you rather have all the kinds of threads we had when Zach was still around? Threads like "Who's the hottest Sioux defenseman" and so on? It is the off season you know and it is hockey related. I'm inclined to overlook it.
  17. If Matt Greene can pot a game winner, Mike Commodore can score a goal. Actually, I remember one (maybe Mike's only?) collegiate goal as a sophomore. It was a random shot from the student section's side of the arena just inside the opposing blue line. It went 5 hole. Oh my god I just about died laughing. I only wish I remembered which team it was against. It had to be either UMD, UMN, or CC because maroon or brown were a key part of their jersey.
  18. I apologize for not believing Kupchella at all. I don't believe anything he says. He could even offer me his suite and I wouldn't believe him still.
  19. Don't get your hopes up.
  20. Sure, I agree, but the tone of the articles I've read told me that it was utilized as more of a threat than mere pragmatism.
  21. Not really. He fell that far because the threat on Jon came true: Commit to a US University and your brother's draft position will fall. Those three 1990s would make great additions to UND in 2008
