I fear Chay may run into the same problem that lead Hirsch away from UND: space. I think we are really set in forwards at least until 2006. I would expect Chay to jump at the first opportunity to play, but who knows. I don't know much inside info on who UND is recruiting, offense-wise. I'm pretty sure we're recruiting Dowzak and Hardwick. But even there is question marks. Hak is up to something, I know it. I have faith that what he's doing is going to be good. I only hope that, if the worst scenario happens (Greene and Smaby go early) that we get both Ammerman and Hardwick fast. I wish we could get Dowzak and Finley but they are both juniors right now.

Yeah... sure. Pin it on me because I'm the easy blame

I knew someone would take it into the gutter... never thought it would be you, Sica.

Ok, here are my thoughts: 1. If you can get it, take it. 2. It's not going to happen. More lower bowl seats would be "rewarding" the students, not punishing. Kupchella has been looking to punish the students for a while now. 3. Let's say it does happen, you're not going to have season tickets below $100 anymore. The loss in revenue will be much more. Here's why: A. The amount of money they'd get for two full sections at the lower deck price are greatly reduced to the point where they are hardly profitable if at all. B. Where the band is greatly reduces seating period. Therefore, that's a total loss of money period since the band members don't pay admission at even the student rate. NO, I'm NOT advocating that they pay or that the band placement is even a bad deal. I think it is a GREAT idea. I just don't think they will go for it. The fact that Phil Harmeson even listened to this was flat out amazing. It says he's acting AD. Never have I been more for the expedition of the hiring process.

The two that I've heard the most about are: Tysen Dowzak - SSM 03 Tysen Dowzak Defense 11 3-8-88 6'5" 225 Fergus Falls, MN GP: 65 G: 8 A:23 Pts: 31 PIM: 96 Found Here (Excel Spreadsheet) And Joe Finley - Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL)

Serious question of a ways down the road: With the signing of Marto (Yay!), where does that leave us in the recruiting hunt for Dowzak and/or Finley? Both Dmen fit our style of play very well, but I am not sure if we will have room for them in 2006. I'm not sure about whether they would be willing to defer their enrollment until 2007 (Maybe Dowzak would be more willing than Finley), but anyways. What do you all think? Will we have room? What are the ways we could still go out and get them?

Not to sound sarcastic but... people who met Kupcake during his candidacy said the same thing about his charm. The fact is that the candidate that most embodies Kupchella's ideals will get the job. That's my prediction. And that means bad news for the students. Thank Parise I have graduated.

I thought it was spelled with a Y? Anyways, seriously, during the FF, I couldn't tell who was hitting harder, Greene or Smaby! It seemed like every time they were on the ice, the opponents were keeping their heads on a swivel.

The thought here is that there is no way it will work. Fargo isn't a hockey town. A location doesn't lose a team for a number of years and then suddenly get a new one when a new arena jumps up in front of them. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a USHL team back in Fargo, but the attendance right now would do two things: 1. Taper off dramatically as the arena grows into "just a part of the community" (newness wears off over time) 2. Spell the end of the NAHL team currently in Fargo unless the "new" team Gino is talking about is the Jets switching conferences. Either way, let's look at some facts: 1. The arena committee doesn't have a clear concept of how parking is going to work. They simply have no plan on this very important matter. 2. They are no longer billing it as a "Downtown hockey arena" but instead marketing it as a "Multipurpose" facility of some sort, so even they know that the hockey thing is a pipedream. Lastly, the common feeling in Fargo is that it is going to get voted down like 80-20 against.

The more I think of it, jloos, the more I think you are correct. I do believe we want Marto to be the next Nick Fuher. The parrallels are all there. Similar size (Fuher is a little taller), similar defensive and offensive playing style, same home town (though different school right?). The only thing I think may happen differently is that Marto could turn into the next Lee Marvin-type player. Not in playing time, but in role. He could very well platoon between forward and D. I know that both Marvin and Foyt had prior experience at forward, but I do think Marto could transition well to forward if the need arose.

Example: Greene on Bertram vs. Irman on Greene

This is a great catch! The question is, though, is there still room to recruit someone like Dowzak or Finley (or both)? I'm not sure we'll need them in 2006, though I'd like Dowzak.

Don't give Duey any credence. He's no GM of any team. He only says these things to piss off the Sioux fans. He said so by his own admission on USCHO before I added him to my ignore list there too. He has no credibility and he wants none. He is a stereotypical troll. Listen to sagard or Greyeagle and sometimes WPoS if you want a non Sioux perspective.

I thought it was Chris Fournier

For PCM's sake, I hope not.

I hate to use a Red Wing example in defense of Fabian, but I look back a while to where the Red Wings were playing in the first round of the playoffs (I think). Chris Osgood was still the goaltender for the Wings and he had apparently made a great save with his right leg pad. The play was reviewed and it was noticed that he moved his right leg forward after the whistle and the result was the puck moving out of the goal. The goal was counted and the Red Wings went on to lose. Now, that being said, there was a distinct movement of Mannino. Actually, two movements. The first was the retraction of his glove out of the goal. The second was that he opened the glove, which allowed the puck to move from its original position. If those situations were all held the same between NHL and NCAA (which they aren't, but still), then that would have been a goal. That being said, there was no way to tell and tharefore you have to go nogoal. It was a contraversial call by the officials, sure, but one that I think was the better one.

Phil Kessel?

You're 50 percent on the mark. The REA will continue to hold events in its walls. It has to to make profits. I don't care too much about that as long as the Sioux hockey team gets first priority. As for basketball, that doesn't belong in the Ralph unless it is a pro exhibition game and even that should be held at the Alerus. They have the Betty. They can keep the Betty. The part where you are right concerns the lighting. There needs to be a ton more lighting along 6th and the parking areas.
