  1. 22 players came. Brad Miller (though Aaron Miller has been mentioned) and Lee Marvin are not sitting out. Lee Marvin has a bruised wrist. Taylor Chorney has a high ankle sprain. This could be a problem.
  2. Not to gloat or nothing, but seriously, I thought Ferris had some sort of QB that was the next coming?
  3. UND's season preview according to Hockeysfuture.com Unlike a dork named Wodon, DJ Powers seems to know what this program is all about. It's a good review. Sorry if this was posted elsewhere.
  4. Parise was on the ice for the 5th Flyer goal (the one by Sim). Crosby got another assist. But did you see the save Cam Ward made on Lemieux during the shootout?
  5. They kicked out most people they came into contact with. I believe they also kicked the Sioux out of most of Eastern ND and SD at one point. Here's a pretty good website about the Ojibwe people. I LOVE the name: Fighting Ojibwe. It really sounds cool. Yttrium- What does 'Ojibwe' mean in the Chippewa language? UND's school colors are Green, White, and "Prairie Rose (yuck)". In your opinion, should UND change their name to Ojibwe or Chippewa, would the school colors have to change too? If so, what would you think they'd change to that would be more symbolic towards the Ojibwe people?
  6. Or on the radio?
  7. I think 99 percent of the rule changes are really good, but I'm not so much a proponent of the restrictions on goaltenders hanlding the puck. There really aren't that many goaltenders out there that are great puck handlers. Anyone see CuJo handle the puck? Us Red Wing fans cringe every time he did while he was with us. This rule is not necessary. Nothing opens up a game like a great outlet pass, and that includes if it is done by a goaltender out next to the boards near his red line (goal line). If I were to limit the goaltender's area where he could play the puck (not cover the puck, but play the puck with his stick for example), I'd either have it be the red line or the bottom of the face off circles. But whatever. Overall, I think it's not going to change the game that much outside of more offense and more penalties. And none of it is that bad overall.
  8. Smaby not being there doesn't bother me that much. Defensive defensemen don't make all-whatever teams. It's too hard to justify compared to offensive numbers. Stafford not getting at least an honorable mention bothers me. Travis Zajac not getting an honorable mention bothers me. Uh. Let me ask this about last year's team: If Stafford and Zajac went down with injury last year, do you think we'd've made the NCAAs? The Frozen Four? The NC game? So, yeah, uh. They get Honorable Mention status if you ever paid any attention to the WCHA's top 5 teams last year on an equal basis. Other than that, Cogliano, Oshie, and Toews are pretty interchangable on the All-Rookie teams. I'd go with Toews of course, but it really is that tight talent wise.
  9. True. So, I know that Toews is from Manitoba, so he'd have to try to catch on with someone in the MJHL until he's out of high school. Tessier, I'm less interested in so I didn't look him up
  10. I agree, if they were caught cheating, then they have no one to blame but themselves. I really have no idea what will become of those two now, but I'd put money on Major Juniors.

    Joe Finley

Goon- Can you name a 6'7" Defenseman in the pros that would be a better rolemodel for a 6'7" defenseman in DI? Sure, I can think of many shorter guys to emulate, but... Chara is regarded as a quality defenseman despite the thugginess. John Scott certainly isn't that way.

    Dataflix

The problem is: Why? Why figure it out while there are still subscribers? They have no intention of improving it while the $$$ is coming in. Make the $$$ go away and maybe something will happen. Either a TV deal with the dismissal of dataflix entirely, or they'll spend $$$ to make $$$ and improve the system.
  13. First off, recent events in the region (Concordia students hospitalized within 3 weeks of each other or less for alcohol consumption; 2 MSU-Moorhead students dead in a year from alcohol-related causes) plus numerous alcohol violations by University organizations (namely the Greeks) and UND students have made this a reality. I can tell you right now, I support this measure. If you need beer or alcohol that badly, go to the Edge or any other bar. They have music and you can get wasted if you wish. There's no problem with an occasional brew or a glass of wine or whatever, but the levels of consumption is getting ridiculous around college campuses. It's time to put that to an end. Just think: If drinking was that important, why spend all that money on tuition when you could use it to get liquored up? Springfest used to be an event where there was music and some dancing and just general celebrating. Yes, there were some alcohol issues but it was always not that out of control. In 1998, it got out of control and UND took action. Now, it is getting out of control at UPark and the city is taking action. If students and townsfolk were more responsible, just think... none of this would have happened. HOckeymom- The reason why it was moved was because of the alcohol problems partly, but mostly because Springfest used to fall right around the same time as the law school final exams. In deference to ACADEMIA, they decided to move it.
  14. Thank you Yttrium. I agree with everything you say. GK's warped viewpoint probably doesn't even represent a good portion of the pro-name changers I'd wager. He's far too extreme and resorts far too often to name calling, insulting, and immaturity to truly be taken seriously. As for your proposition to the "Fighting Chippewa," what about it? If we have to change the name, why not?
  15. Don't know what this is all about... I hope things get better for him. This was not a good move by either player.
  16. That's not hideous... that's hostile and abusive to ecologists and arborists everywhere. I think they should dump the mascot.
  17. It will probably be run by the Dataflix people and be just as reliable.
  18. Where's Woog with the phantom assists?
  19. A few things. FIrst, I agree. JJ's stats are a testament to the Gophers D (I can't believe I'm saying that, but how could he graduate with a 2.34 GAA with over a .900 Save%??) because JJ's a flipping sieve. I mean, I felt more scared of the Gophers D with Briggs in net, and that's saying something. Yes, Briggs is an ok goalie but really... they got lucky with him. Second, we'll see about UW. They have Offense and Defense. Their goaltending and a swoon are the only thing that could hold them back. I have no comment about UMD. Don't know enough about them. As for JBSU, they will vie for last place with MTU this year. However, if you think Motzko is an "interim" then you are dillusional. Motzko never would have left Minny if he thought he wasn't the next in line for the SCSU head job)

    Joe Finley

I'd love it if he turns out anything like this guy.

    Joe Finley

Yes, but no one knows his actual weight. I've seen it as low as 225 and as high as 255. The most common numbers are 233 and 240. I think he'll be a good one but it is going to take some time for him.
  22. THanks PCM. I hope Hak is right. We have a good team. I have confidence in them, even if I get frustrated or extremely nervous.
  23. A valid point...
