  1. I've thought more and I'm going to revise a few points here rather than edit my post: 1. The goals. I really do think that 99.99 percent of the time, that puck would have been covered, but I don't think it was a fluke. The Toews goal was a huge UNH defensive snafu but it wasn't really a fluke either. 2. SiouxTupa hit on a point I didn't hit on yet: We rushed the net. Does anyone remember how many times we called for that last year? Toews and Oshie (especially Oshie) really bring this to an art. 3. Duncan on the first line: THIS WORKS. They were really creating chances. Though Oshie and Porter could have easily been moved to the first line with their performances. 4. Stafford: One more note: YAY for getting un-snake bitten! I love a forward with skill that is patient like he was. I like how Lee and Chorney tried to sneak up in the offensive zone. I do think that Radke needs to get more acclimated towards less broadcasting of his shot, even I could see them coming. But Radke really is a new player on this team.
  2. David is down for the same reason as Greene is down: Playing time. Secondary reasons for them being down are different though. Hale is a victim to roster size. They dont' have the roster space for him at the moment.
  3. Ok, my thoughts as per my biased, non psuedo-reporting (not to be confused with the likes of mikejm or PCM) mind: Powerplay: For the first two periods, it seemed like all we were doing was cycling along the boards. I don't know if this is necessarily bad, but with a big sheet of ice, isn't that kinda counterproductive? These were few and far between thanks to UNH's disciplined play. We gotta make them count. Especially since UNH's powerplay was a ton better than ours. Thanks to some good positioning, JPar, and luck, UNH didn't capitalize on many of them. Penalties: WOW, some of the penalties we took were flat out AWFUL. I hate bringing this up EVERY single game, but Zach Jones HAS TO HAS TO HAS TO be more disciplined. Admittedly, today wasn't as bad as other days, but that contact to the head roughing call was VERY unnecessary. Watkins penalty was just BAD and so was Foyt's. CSTV said Stafford's penalty was a "good" penalty (what the heck does that mean? Never heard of a "good" penalty before), but to me, it looked like he didn't have to take down his man. I THINK there is one penalty I missed that wasn't good either. Oh, before anyone asks: WCHA needs to get Gravelese (I know I'm spelling his name wrong). IMO, he is head and shoulders better than 90 percent of the WCHA refs. Defense: Very impressed otherwise. I really like how Lee and Chorney are all over the place. Radke looked ok. Finley... made one mistake but otherwise played REALLY REALLY well. And I think it's nice to see him take a few shots on goal. Goaltending: JPar was in goal. Uh... I don't know what else to say. JPar. Period. The End. Forwards: Grinder line was WONDERFUL tonight. Porter did an excellent job on the forecheck as well as in the offensive zone. Oshie: STUD. Toews: STUD. Zajac and Stafford on the PK: OH MY FREAKING GOD. CSTV said that some UNH player's deke around Finley was the play of the game, in typical eastern biased fashion (ala Farkas on Goehring.. nice deke, glove save), but really, it was Zajac's pass to Stafford who scores. A thing of beauty. I really think, despite what PCM says, that this team doesn't fare well on Olympic ice. We really had to work hard for this win and really, Oshie and Toew's goals are more of the fluke variety. Though, it was fun to watch two UNH players knock each other out of the play without a Sioux player involved at all. Miscellaneous notes: Gravalese was very nice to JPar and the Sioux on the equipment problem. If he didn't expand the rule book there, he should have forced UND to call a timeout. He gave JPar a REALLY long time. Dick Umile's comments were classy pregame. Javis (or whomever it is) has eyebrows that NEVER quit! Holy cow! Dude, seriously, shave that. JPar is named, once again, the younger brother of Zach Impressed that the CSTV announcers didn't mispronounce any of the names (except Petrisiak became Petrajelo for a split second) My biggest worry is energy and conditioning for tommorow. We REALLY worked hard tonight.
  4. TH's AG Edward's Money POG is Toews as well. 3rd Goal (2nd Game Winning Goal) of the year. Leads Sioux in goals. Good for him in front of 26 NHL scouts! My thoughts upcoming.
  5. Compared to our appeal, this Bradley one is a bigger mess. Does anyone here think that Bradley has a better shot at slander/libel/etc. than even we do?
  6. Share the posts with campus security. The more that do, the more seriously we'll be taken. He may be just blowing smoke out his $@@ but as LetsGoSioux noted, the young man involved in the RL shootings posted his plans on a message board; not unlike postings we've seen on the Sioux Name threads. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

  8. By Zach this is hilarious.
  9. Maybe this is a tangent, but what does it take to get a medical hardship waiver? Does Tyler really have a good case to get one? I know I'm an outsider, but from where I sit, I don't see much beyond the blip that people cite about him that warrants it being granted. Not collegiately speaking, but imagine what this speaks to regarding a future in hockey. Can a pro team trust Tyler in a stressful situation? What if he gets in a rut, does he have the mindset to get himself out of it? Tough decision, I am sure it is. Career threatening, no doubt. Best of luck Tyler.
  10. I don't know. Pop's is going to be quiter. It's a sorta cafe, like DMT said and it is nonsmoking. BWW is louder and you won't be able to hear what's going on. This may not be a bad thing, unless you are watching FSSN. As I said, FSSN doesn't show penalties (what was called and how long they are in the box) and doesn't keep track of the time remaining (All you get is a <team> PP thing under the score) in the powerplay. MInor things, sure, but it does tell you more about special teams if you know that it is a 5 minute major rather than a 2 minute minor. What's interesting with CSTV is that potentially there will be commentators who are better quality than Bredahl. On the flip side, CSTV is typical in it's Eastern concentration, so they will know relatively little about the Sioux. All they'll probably hit on: 1. Our draft results 2. Zajac 3. Greene's departure 4. Our youth And when that 2 minutes of airtime is over, they'll return to probably 10 minutes of similar UNH breakdown.
  11. I might as well.

I can do one better: I was not talking about WHO WROTE the story, I was talking about WHAT PAGE you can find it on. Ummm duh
  13. Bless you, Yttrium. However, he's already inferred a threat of violence. Since veiled threats like those have been issued before, blown off, and then tragedy struck, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend to the administration that those posts (they are now on locked threads) and all of the info they have on the person called "GrahamKracker" be turned over to the FBI to investigate a possible threat. After all, though it isn't a Sioux event, the Weise character posted his plan at Red Lake on a message board before opening up at that high school. Whether we win the battle or lose it, violence is not the answer and all threats of violence should be taken seriously.
  14. No dispute there. I just thought he was a better talent than a 4th liner. Didn't Byfuglien do that too?
  15. UND 176-10 Ok, that's not realistic. Really: UND 33 MSUM 10 Yeah, a carbon copy of last week's score, but let's see what happens.
  16. Nope. They'd complain about the logo then. So far, the only thing the pro-name changers have proven to me is that they want to totally control what UND displays. They want more and more and more. They are entittled to it because of what happened to them 100 plus years ago. The logo may have been drawn by someone who is NOT Sioux, and the Sioux may have claimed to disavow it as being not Sioux, but if we change the name and keep the logo, I'd expect them to flip flop and say that the likeness of the Sioux on the jerseys should be removed. Quite frankly, if we do change the name, I think the Sioux people should have 0 input on what we change the name to. They got their wish and that's that. As for the name 'Imperials' I'd vote no. As much as I respect Ralph, I think we've honored him enough. Changing the name to honor him would be overboard, IMO. Sure, we should change the name, but it should be something that makes a statement. Honoring the Sioux is no longer in question. They don't deserve Honor and besides, they don't want to be Honored.
  17. GK- :ets put things into perspective here: Nearly 89% of Whites graduate high school in ND per year. Nearly 56% of NA people graduate high school in ND per year. Nearly 90 percent of whites go to college. Looking at the numbers, I can understand why! You see, I don't know of ONE SINGLE PERSON who has EVER gone to college without a high school diploma or at least a GED. I think that is a requirement to get into college, no? Maybe you should stop playing the race card and start looking at ways to better your own people. Then you can earn respect. With respect comes Honor. People listen to Honorable people who have earned it. People may be born into riches, but no one is born into Honor. Not you, Not Andy Two Horse, no one. Interesting how you think you deserve it just because you happen to be Sioux. I'll say what has been said before, I am in favor of the Sioux name being changed. The Sioux people that exist today do not deserve respect or honor and that certainly means naming anything in honor of them. I am also in favor of ceasing plans for a new Native American center on campus. We can make the land available to them if they want to pay for it, but that's it. As for the programs, let them keep the programs. Hail UND Fighting Cavalry, or better yet, open the nickname up for bids and see who bids for it.
  18. Dude... you are showing your age. Yeah, I know of the logo you speak of (the Canuck one anyways). It was better than that brown and gold one they had for a while. This new one at least is recognizable and somewhat stylish.
