I know what AZSioux is saying. It's one thing to lose to a top 10 team. It's another thing entirely to lose to UAF opening weekend or SCSU last weekend

In off ice issues, they are. Saigo is an imbecile and a racist and must be stopped. Other than that, who cares about those bottom dwellers.

Puck Swami- What you said certainly does strike some logic, but whether wrongfully convicted or not, expunged or not, he's a sex offender. There are cases that have been made that proves that. I'll give you one. A 24 year old male in Illinois (I think) had to swerve and brake hard to get out of the way of a 14 year old girl who stepped out into the roadway on which the man was driving on. He stopped his vehicle and confronted the girl trying to maneuver her back towards the side of the road and off of the road. He made a mistake. He touched the girl on the arms. Charges were brought up, he was convicted, and now he has to register as a sex offender. Was he rightly convicted? No. But he's still a sex offender. As for the expunged part, it means nothing. Brandon Bochenski committed a money laundering charge which was expunged and they still call him a money launderer. Expunged means that it isn't on his legal rap sheet, but that's it. The reputation is still tainted and people will forever call Bo a money launderer and Pauko a sex offender. What could Paukovich have done? Why, let me count the ways: 1. Outright refused to talk to the media. 2. If #1 wasn't possible, then talking to the media about DU specific stuff and refusing to reference the Bina hit or the aftermath whatsoever. 3. Saying benign platitudes like "We just have to focus hard and play our game." etc. etc. and when asked what to expect from UND an equally benign "It will be a hard fought game. They are a tough team." etc etc. Any reference to Bina or questions like "What do you expect UND to do to respond to Bina's injury on the ice tonight?" He would say "no comment." 4. If asked about Bina, referenced about Bina, or if Bina is even inferred in the upcoming or previous night's activities he would say "The hit is in the past and I've got to do my best to move on with my life. I wish Bina the best and I look forward to seeing him skate onto the ice next year." Or something like that.

Just to quote the apparent 'party line,' there is no split and it is unanimous. They don't count those hang around the fort Indians, Indians who have fully integrated into American society (the 'lost' indians), or Indians that are not full blooded Sioux (even if you are .0000001 of anything else in the bloodline, tough crap. You don't count). Sioux on the reservations who support or don't care about the nickname are shunned into silence. The majority is cowed into cooperation. Even GK has admitted that that is what would happen if someone did speak out on it. Yes, on this issue, certain NA people are holding a number of other NA people hostage ideologically.

I really think the Sioux are round about #8 or #9 right now. We are not a top 5 team. Not right now.

He's doing very well. I'm with PCM though. I'm not sure what we'd do with a goaltender that is taller than 5'11".

Oh, I highly doubt the seniors left the Ralph with their heads held high after Hak got through with them. Hak always looks so calm and composed behind the bench. I bet when he starts yelling (if he yells at all), it hits the players like a ton of bricks. I've found that those who yell alot and show their anger in facial expressions quite often aren't the ones I'm scared to be yelled at. It's the ones that don't look like they are angry at all coming right up to the point where they start yelling that I'm scared of. You don't see it coming even though you know you did something wrong.

Digger will be the Sioux MVP that's for sure, but I'm not going to say he's going to win this award. IIRC, the Hill tends to go towards offensive players. He might have a shot if we win it all this year... or he has 6 or seven INTs for a touchdown for the remainder of the season Still, congrats to him for making the list in the first place. He truly is one of the best football players I've ever seen play at UND (I can't decide if Digger or Jimmy K is my favorite all time player. )

Yeah. I'm not much for Denver's airport either. They had us check in and went through boarding procedures just so we could wait in a hallway next to a doorway for a LONG time (probably somewhere between 30-45 min). No chairs no nothing. Good grief.

I had a good post? That makes two! Hey PCM! I'm learning!

Actually, from what I've heard, the only disappointment on the cruise was after the boat docked and the aftermath. I admit I know very little about football, but I could SWEAR that clock management is the QB's job. It's his job to know how many ticks he has and what he has to do. The coach's job is to be sure to have a play ready fast enough so that they can get the play off. I can see where there could be a delay if the OC can't decide on a play, but still, it mostly falls on the QB. I don't know whom to start. I really don't care. All I want is a QB that can manage the clock and hold onto the football.

Either I am misinterpretting you or it's the other way around. Why should we care what Gwozdecky does in terms of ice time for his players? Even Paukovich? We lost the game! That's all that matters. I don't care if Pauko got 50 min of ice time or played only 1 shift. He shouldn't be the focal point of this rivalry despite the history. Just because we're losing the game doesn't mean we have an excuse to act the way we acted at the end of the game. If we play like that, people will start calling us 'cheap' and then what do we say? Deny it? No. As lame and as boring as it sounds, we need to take the high road. Win the games and let Paukovich be damned. If his name was never mentioned again, all's the better, IMO. Hab-it: A mild concussion? What the hell? I need my eyes examined because I swear I saw him limp off from behind the bench into the locker room. Anyways, I hope they are careful with him and monitor him closely to be sure that he doesn't end up with Post Concussion Syndrome. Wasn't it about this time last year that Kaip came down with PCS?

I am going to agree to a point. I think Prpich's run was what needed to be said, but it should have been said on Friday, not last night. Also, when we next meet it will be in February in Denver. Two things trouble me about this: 1. It's not at home and I doubt things will be as friendly to the Sioux as it was this weekend. 2. It's February, which means every game counts and by then, both DU and UND will be in the thick of things. With as much emotion as Prpich plays, and the fact that UND gets emotional around DU and UMN, it could very well cost us a game or two to lose our focus like Paukovitch wishes us to do. I have no doubt in my mind that Prpich would throw down with Pauko. I have no doubt vice versa either. However, Paukovitch on Saturday night was in a better position than Prpich. He could actually afford to get DQ'd because the Pios are going home to Denver to face MTU, which is surely going to be an easy home series for the Pios. Sure, we stay at home, but we face a tougher opponent. With Fabian out (who is quickly turning into the heart and soul player of the Grinder line) with whatever is ailing him, losing Prpich would mean that our checking line would be down to only one quality grinder (Kaip) and two fill ins. I'd still say screw Pauko and to hell with the lad. Let's go out and win and let him piss and moan about whatever he can dream up. In February, we'll need to win both nights. I guarantee it.

I'm in Fargo currently, but come May I may end up in either Chicago, Il or Seattle, WA. There is even a remote chance I could end up in either Madison, WI or Las Vegas, NV but that's highly unlikely.

I believe there are two weaknesses to UND's offense. And I have no quantitative evidence to back it up... I just feel this way. 1. QB - Belmore is an ok QB whose weaknesses are often overlooked because of how strong the rest of the team is. I don't think Belmore would be as highly regarded if he didn't have the OLine and the D that he currently has. 2. WR: We are SMALL at WR. Yeah, most of them are 6'-6'2" tall, but our MAIN recievers are 5'7" (Grossman) and 5'6" tall (Dressler). Seems to me you put a big DB on them that can run... problem solved. 2a. Grossman. Yeah, he's done a good job for us, but it seems to me that he NEVER catches the ball cleanly. It always bounces around in his hands a bit before he either catches it or it falls to the turf. Looks like that UNO CB noticed it too. This is probably an exaggeration, but oh well..

Actually, I saw a replay of the incident where Freeman, a DU player, and Marvin got taken to the ice. Actually, the DU player swung his left glove around to get at Marvin and ended up dragging everyone down to the ice. The arm Freeman put on the DU player was merely to keep him from getting a noseful of ice. Agreed. As for Statsny, he may have smack talked this game but he backed it up. Smack talk is going to happen in a game and none of what comes out is too flattering for anyone on any side. I'm sure that what has all the opposing players talking about Prpich as well. This last part really intrigues me. He had 2 hour surgery last night and he's out of the hospital by 6pm the next day? Athletes are amazing. The anesthestic alone would have taken me longer to burn off enough to make me even think about going to the grocery store let alone a hockey game.
-
If you HAVE to blame someone, blame the QB. The coaches don't tell the QB when to snap the ball. Time management is mainly the responsibility of the QB. Coaches just call the plays.

I agree. This was a terrible game for the Sioux. I, too, would LOVe to know more about Fabian. It did not look too serious, but what can you tell from a limp these days? Not conditioning. That was proven vs. UNH to not be the case. I think it was fatigue. They played HARD Friday night. They were extremely physical and it was a tiring game. By game time tonight we had very little in the tanks. By the third period, we were flat out out of gas. I think Phil does go down too early (JPar has this problem too but not nearly to the extent that I saw tonight with Phil). I really think that most of the DU goals came because our defense just let the other team have the puck. Gauthier's goal was unfortunate really. I believe that the puck ricochetted off of Jones' stick right onto the stick blade of Gauthier and, with Gauthier's finesse and speed, Jones couldn't catch up. However, I wouldn't want to be Hak because I think Phil is fundamentally a good goaltender with a few bad habits. Where and when to play him when JPar is playing out of his mind is downright problematic. IIRC, we're not exactly a Saturday night hockey team. Anyone have our Saturday W-L-T record from last year?

You heard it here first, JFR, but I'm going to put my lock on for Rutgers winning against USF and Cincinnati. As for Louisville... that's going to be a tough game. Who knows what will happen then. Is the Louisville game at home or on the road for Rutgers?

Sioux-cia- According to a DU fan on USCHO, the DU radio guys said Trotter's season was over. So I'm assuming my post, though perhaps premature at the time, has a greater chance of being more accurate now.

I agree. Anyways, we played terribly all night long culminating in the worst period of hockey I've ever seen (third period). All I can say is: Hak, tear them a new one! I cannot believe how undisciplined we played. And we're going in to play UW next week. I can see it now: Earl will never have dived harder and with the way we've been playing, the officials will bite every time. Is our season over? Are we done? No. Maybe, MAYBE, we can use this game as an example of everything not to do in a hockey game short of getting DQs and major penalties. Double post, but Diggler showed up on FSSN tonight. A very VERY dejected Diggler. Oh, and it's amazing what the difference is between CSTV and FSSN. CSTV follows the puck better. And I still like the fact that it uses a countdown of how much time each PP has left.

A guy at Peppers said the Wild lost in the shootout.

An excellent site on injuries to the Achilles Tendon. Lots of pictures and you have an option to actually view a recording of the surgury that Trotter could very well go through. Yes, it talks about ruptured Achilles tendons, but in essence, that's what is being talked about with Trotter, only the blade of a skate did it and not some other type of activity. Assuming that this is a lacerated Achilles Tendon, websites that talk about Achilles tendon injuries (usually only tendenitis and ruptured Achilles Tendon) list 4-6 months for the severe cases of injury to this tendon in terms of athletic activity. It certainly requires surgury for a rupture or in this case, a tear.
