  1. I guess I have no taste in jerseys, but I don't think that NMU jersey looks that bad. I've definitely seen worse looking jerseys.
  2. Wouldn't it be a violation? If UND used this 'fund' as a recruiting tool even if it is stated three ways past Sunday that the money would be recieved by the player ONLY upon graduation (meaning 4 years in the program) from UND? I mean, it is a promise of compensation far beyond that of a scholarship that is intended not entirely towards education and whatever it is athletic scholarships are used towards. I'm not sure if there is a stipulation stating that compensation of an NCAA eligible athlete is only a violation if it is completed before or during an athlete's time as an athlete at/for an NCAA recognized institution...
  3. I admit I've only gotten through half of the threads going back through last Thursday morning, but when did we get LaPoint? And as far as recruits are going, here's the breakdown: Prpich is graduating. We bring in Vandevelde. Marvin is graduating. We bring in Genoway Now, I'm not saying it is a 1 to 1 replacement, but I'm saying that, unless someone knows which of our incoming recruits are scholarship and which are walk on or whatever, I'm just matching up known departures with known incoming. Now, we are bringing in Darcy Zajac and Jake Marto as well. We are getting Bina back (if all things go well). That means, if no one leaves early, we're actually losing two players and gaining 4.5 (Bina is already on the roster). 2 of those we gain (name isn't important) are negligible as 2 are leaving and those 2 fill those slots, but the other 2 mean we're going to have one or two players not returning next year. That means we could be depending upon Stafford and Smaby leaving early. Maybe I'm totally confused and this is completely wrong, but it just seems that we are getting more players back next year than we are losing this year. Or... could this be the end of the line for Foyt and Alexander?
  4. I didn't see the games. I was told by a guy on the plane with me today that we won and the score of the UMN/SCSU tilt. But I'm sorry, say what you will about the offense in that game, HOW IN SWEET PARISE do you give up 8 goals to SCSU?!?!?!?! What a choke job. Seriously. If what I see is true, meaning UW beat UMN for 3rd, then it's not that amazing to understand why Minnie didn't show up against Wisconsin. They're still reeling from getting humiliated by SCSU. That being said I had to reread the article in the STrib twice to believe that UND played (and beat) SCSU in the Championship game. I couldn't believe it at all. I'm loving this!
  5. Two kisses of death. We're doomed.
  6. Nah. He's proven nothing. He still should be fired. I mean, he's obviously got all this talent around him and they aren't pulling squat for nothing. For all you doubters, my one piece of gloating: HA HA YOU WERE WRONG! (For this argument anyways) YOU SUCK! Now, back to my glum about not being there/able to watch it. I did get to see Michigan State beat Miami
  7. Forsaking The Oshie for Toews?
  8. Could you imagine what Smaby or Prpich would be like if either of them were more in touch with their feminine side? I think that's as good a reason as any to not have pink on the men's jerseys. I know you are teasing me. And let's cut the crap here. Prairie Rose IS pink. The attempt by the University to hide that fact is just disgusting.
  9. I always thought Ryan Hale had the best breakaways as a Sioux And Duncan does indeed have too many goals to have a shot that goes high and wide as much as pro17 says it does.
  10. Not when Prairie Rose (aka Pink) is an official school color.
  11. I agree. Thiessen wanted to play next year in college. He did not wish to defer until 2007.
  12. Home pinks and away Periwinkle jerseys!
  13. I agree. Prpich is a BIG distraction for opposing players on the ice. Sure he takes occasional ill-timed penalties, but that's no different from any of the players we've cherished in the past. I may not like those penalties, but I think he's done a great job as an assistant captain. All things considered, I think our captains did a really good job this regular season. Now let's see them lead us this post season!
  14. Thanks for clearing this up, PCM. tnt- I said it because I just don't see Jordan leaving for the pros. He's a UFA. There's no pressure CBA or otherwise to sign him by anyone. I guess I just am too bullheaded in this issue to see any sort of possibility that Jordan will leave early.
  15. I loved this article. Some points: Oh yeah, someone will. And then it will make the Rush Limbaugh Show and BADABING! More attendance at LV Wranglers games. Offensive be damned, this was a brilliant promotional stunt. This guy needs to come to UND. I think he'd be a valuable asset to us.
  16. Oh I agree! Fists flying, skates kicking, sticks spearing and slashing being used as weapons, lots of injuries of varying severity! Heck yeah! I think all levels of hockey need more of this! Seriously, what jk said. This brawl was revolting to watch. I think what I saw in this video made what McSorley and Paukovich did almost like child's play. Heck, if one player ended up severely injured, it makes this brawl worse than what Bertuzzi did. There's nothing to be amused at all about.
  17. I'm slightly leaning towards Rick's side of the fence on this one. From what I've read, Kangas wanted to go to Minnesota anyways, Thiessen seriously considered UND but really wanted to go to a school where he could step in next year instead of in 2007, and well.. Cheverie did shoot us down. WISioux, never heard of him, but I have heard of Duluth Marshall. A pretty good program. However, why next year? The SIoux aren't looking for a goaltender for next year unless Jordy finds a miracle contract and goes pro. I say miracle because I think he'll be here all four years. Rick- Are you sure about Karl Goehring? I was under the impression that both MInnesota and UND wanted Karl but Karl chose UND because UND offerred him more playing time or maybe it was to come in right away whereas Minnesota wanted him to wait a year... I can't remember exactly?
  18. I hope we don't hear anything about it either. If we do (ala Fabian) it is a sure indication that Stafford's season is over as well.
  19. There was an explanation somewhere stating that one team was members of the Romanian Military of some sort and the other Hungarian. The "bad blood" was almost entirely politically motivated and had to do with where in Romania and Hungary they are from. ANd it goes all the way back to World War I and the country of Austria-Hungary and how it was split up or something to that effect. Ah, Diggler on USCHO gave the link to the explanation. It's about half way down this page.
  20. That's horrible and I didn't laugh.
  21. An interesting write up on goaltenders on Chris Heisenberg's blog. Some interesting names to keep an eye on are Pat McGann, Bryan Hogan, Beau Christian (Team Illinois' roster page. ), and a few others I listed earlier in the thread. A meaningless sidebar about McGann is that he was an 8th or 9th round draft pick in the last draft.
  22. Yeah, that sounds better
  23. Thiessen, Kangas, and Cheverie
  24. True, but depending upon that extra zero, it could mean a lot. For example, with the bonus of .0004, .0002, and .00012 (I think it was) that, if UND goes 0-2, SCSU loses to UMN and beats us in the consolation game, we're out of the NCAAs. If the bonuses have .003 or whatever, UND is a lock barring the chance that all of those who have no chance in making the NCAAs without an autobid get the autobid.
  25. I'd be interested in observing. Do you do lots of cane shaking and "Listen here you young whippersnappers"-ing?
