  1. Don't know if it was recorded, but last Sunday (Chicago's last game), Bochenski registered his first point as a Blackhawk with an assist.
  2. He is, but I'm not sure if it is because he's not eligible to come to college until then.
  3. Not to hijack this thread in honor of Minnesota football, but I really don't think facilities have anything to do with winning football games. Sure, they will help in certain respects, but if the coaches don't know a football player from a fat guy wearing a jersey and spandex, it doesn't matter where you play. The problem with Minnesota's football team isn't just the Metrodome. It is a sty, that much is true. I do know that a good facility affects recruiting, and I'll give you that. But when is Minnesota going to invest in coaching? Mason is an idiot and the Minnesota AD is even more so for not seeing it. Sure, the Minnesota AD is nowhere near as idiotic as the Timberwolves or Wild ownership (I mean, McHale's a GREAT GM. In fact, if he did any more for the Timberwolves, he'd probably have something to add to his resume other than "sat in the front office desk for X years playing God with a worthless basketball franchise." Risebrough's system had him turn away scoring talent (Modano) because he doesn't "fit the system." No, with the Wild's dedication, it's plain to see winning isn't part of the system either.) because even Mason has made it to a Bowl game the last few years (heh, but then again, bowl games are like DIA basketball. With the NCAA and the NIT to choose from, you damn near have to go winless in order to NOT make the postseason) and he does get an occasionally good recruit. Sorry, but if the Gophers get a new stadium, the Gophers football team isn't going to turn into the Wolverines or the Fighting Irish overnight. They're going to have to make some serious adjustments, and the first adjustment will be to pack Mason's bags. It's amazing to read that Minnesota's football program is the most popular hands down (which I'm not disputing) but you'll have to go to the third most popular program at the U in order to find a program that actually is successful (Men's hockey).
  4. That's why I said 'no offense.' I don't think Chuck would lie, but I'd love to see something written down proving it too. Heisenberg doesn't have it yet and I don't subscribe/have access to USHR.com.
  5. I wouldn't mind Clay Matvick as long as he's not a Frank Masucko or a Dick Edwards (or Whatever The F his name was). I don't mind Woog that much either. I like his "Shoot and a goal!" call, very old school.
  6. No offense, Chuck, but, where did you hear this?
  7. I hate to say this, but: I was wondering if anyone has any clips of: 1. Rylan Kaip's goals (or basically the Sioux goals from the UW game in general) 2. The nifty goals during the Saturday game vs. UMD during the regular season?
  8. We're getting all worked up about a Fargo based coach getting interviewed by a Fargo based reporter on a topic whose main marketing base is Fargo. I do think that it is indeed foreseeable that NDSU football will be more popular than UND hockey in the Fargo-Moorhead (and surrounding) areas. They May be able to ring in parts of Western ND too, since football is played out there and is, therefore, more popular than hockey (which in the west basically holds to certain areas). Will NDSU football be the most popular sport in North Dakota? Nope. Why? Because every population base will have an opinion on it and will either agree or disagree. There's going to be a wide variation on that opinion. I have no doubt that NDSU football or any athletics will never be popular in Grand Forks. The same thing will be largely true of UND athletics in Fargo. Yeah, there is a large following of UND hockey in Fargo, but it really is apples and oranges between UND and NDSU because NDSU doesn't have a hockey program outside of the club team. Let Bohl say what he wishes about it. Let this reporter say what he wishes. It's triviality meant to rev up the NDSU boosters and the NDSU fundraising efforts. It's basic marketing. That's all.
  9. 8-6? Wait a minute. Are you sure this wasn't the scoreboard for the UMN/SCSU game? Ok, seriously, great pics. I too would LOVe to know the screen names associated with the players in the pictures. Although kateskate, you're easy to find with your "prairie rose" colored socks.
  10. I think I would have jumped higher than Prpich if I had been able to see Kaip score. There was no one on the team who deserved at least one goal more than Kaip did this year. He's grown a lot. As for Kaip, I'm glad Prpich and I are in agreement.
  11. When SCSU's President is a pinko loving, ignorant cry baby, I don't see the fans' chants as that surprising really. Off the record, there is a good chance that Saigo endorses it and probably calls it the "Calling out of the unclean, hostile, and abusive so much that even the F word does them justice." Sorry, I know I'm putting words in Saigo's mouth, but I swear that guy is the biggest racist in the NCAA and that's saying something about Harrison and Brand.
  12. And if I were Irman, I'd be cozying up to that NJ exec in the hopes of getting his rights traded away from the dark abyss known as the Minnesota Wild franchise.
  13. Hockeysfuture Ratings are neat, but they aren't the end all say all. As for size, 6' isn't much anymore. In fact, with the new rules, size isn't going to be as important anymore. Besides, you have guys like Rafalski, Parise, St. Louis, and so on who are definitely not 6' or bigger and they are doing fine.
  14. I know it is dangerous to rely on early season intel, but I think there is a lot to be learned from Minnesota on how to beat Michigan easily. Just watch the Minnesota/Michigan tilt earlier this season. Minnesota, who at the time wasn't as dominating as they were later in the season, absolutely throttled Michigan even if the score didn't reflect it. Michigan does NOT like physical matchups and teams who are willing to crash the net and block shots. If the Sioux play like they have been playing lately, we should win.
  15. Two things: 1. Say what you will about Don Lucia, but I DOUBT he'd kick the Sioux out of their own dressing room. Yeah, he has every right to do it under the rules, but I doubt he'd show that sort of classlessness. If he's truly a standup kind of a coach, the Sioux won't switch locker rooms. 2. This whole debate with Potulny, Irman, Zajac, and Stafford is just flat out stupid. Why is it a bad thing if Potulny and Irman make the NHL like it is implied? Why can't we be happy that these guys came and played NCAA hockey instead of toiling away in the cesspool of Major Juniors and we got to watch them, even though they may not be "your kind of players" on "your team?" I am as big of a detractor as anyone when it comes to Vanek, but I'm not going to tell you that I hope that 5 years down the road, Vanek gets dumped on his butt by Buffalo. I don't like the guy, but I wish him the best. I don't like Potulny and Irman, but I wish them the best as well whether they return next year or not.
  16. A lot of opinions that match mine but some points I took from watching him play: 1. He plays with emotion. A lot more emotion than Matt did, IMO. 2. He's solid defensively, just like Matt 3. He's not flashy. Sometimes Matt could be flashy. I didn't see that from Zach. He's a lunch pail guy who simply goes out on the ice and gets the job done with sheer grit, emotion, and athleticism. 4. He's quiet on the ice, only getting noticed when he lays someone out or gets called for laying someone out 5. He's a solid defensive defenseman who will never really put up any offensive numbers with the Sioux. 6. He's one of the players I'm going to watch in two years. As a junior, Zach could follow Matt in wearing a letter. 7. Optimistic addition: I think he'll get drafted as an overager in this year's NHL Draft somewhere between the 5th and 7th round.
  17. Hey, it worked for Chris Weinke (pro baseball to college football, IIRC)
  18. I can watch those videos over and over and over and over and over again... especially the two Duncan goals. MY DEAR GOD that Toews pass was simply UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE!!!!!
  19. The fact that he's officiated so few games this year makes me think that he's nobody's choice.
  20. I know this has little bearing on hockey, but why preempt NCAA hockey tourney for the Timberwolves? They're out of contention and they suck. This is a tourney here, not some regular season whoopdedoo... It's like the DII NC football game a few years back where UND/GVSU was preempted by High School basketball.
  21. I don't know. But while we're at it, PCM, do you know when they are going to start putting together the Big Ten Hockey Conference? How will that impact UND?
  22. You gotta speak dem dere Norveegun street talkin' ja? I think what he's trying to say is that Prpich needs to play disciplined. Here's the pros and cons of ECAC/HEA officials: Pros: 1. They are more consistent than WCHA officials. 2. They take NCAA crackdowns as something that MUST be followed (instead of optional like WCHA officials) 3. They acknowledge that diving is indeed a penalty and that it can be called independently from a matching minor. 4. They are objective. They haven't seen any of the teams present long enough to have possibly formed any prejudice towards any team. Cons: 1. They are consistent in calling EVERYTHING 2. May not favor the more physical teams 3. An unknown quantity. WCHA officials may suck but at least we know what kind of crap we're getting ourselves into when we read who's officiating. 4. From what I've seen, HEA/ECAC officials are similar in calling styles to CCHA officials, so this may favor Michigan. We need to look back to our series vs. MSU, Miami, and UNH and plan for our games to be called similarly. Playing with discipline isn't a new concept. We have to play with it whether we have WCHA officials or whatever.
  23. So now we're back to Parise vs Vanek? Please. Gopher fans amuse me. It's like mornprod on USCHO. UND vs Michigan and Gopher fans have to come in here and put down the Sioux and build up the Gophers. The Gophers aren't playing this game. Concern yourself with Holy Cross! Or maybe provide some insight about one or both teams that are playing in this series. I could care less about the Gophers. They aren't playing the Sioux... yet.
  24. I guess I'm confused on how anyone can think the atmosphere at the Mariucci Arena can be the best in the WCHA. I mean, as far as fans being into the games, I don't think I have Mariucci better than 3rd on my list behind Kohl Center and maybe the Ralph and St. Cloud's arena. Heck, one could argue that MTU's arena has a better atmosphere... but having a band as kick ass as MTU's is kinda an unfair advantage in that department.
  25. I don't know. Not half as silly as other comments made about the Sioux during the course of the year.
