  1. What's more important is whether or not Brand or Harrison will understand what capricious, fundamentally irrational, arbitrary, illegitimate, and, most importantly, the word policy means.
  2. Ok, I disagree with this post for two reasons (sorry Goon): 1. Kessel, though probably a good fit in Chicago, shouldn't be drafted because he'll "sell tickets." 2. Toews going to Boston (sorry Goon) would be a disaster. They have had a history, along with the Rangers, of destroying talent. Then again, maybe Boston will tire of him and trade him. In any case, if Toews goes in the top 5 it may be rough to get him back at UND. I can see each of those five teams doing their best to sign who they draft right away. On a different note in TSN's mock draft... Mueller to #12 overall? Wow. Everywhere else (it seems like) he's a top 10 pick!
  3. I heard that, in two years, Lammy may be leaving UND! Also, the same source told me that Fabian will be leaving next season!
  4. Collontino is a nice guy too. I've met him a few times. We started talking and he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. The major impact, IMO, will be the lockerroom. Wasn't it stated that most of the ladies who left the program didn't like Rivard but liked Collontino and the other assistant? Might those who were on the fence with leaving or staying leave because Collontino is gone now? I don't know what to think about all of this, but if Hockeymom says everything will be ok, or if she suggests a plan of action, I'll go with it. Hockeymoms all know whats best for the girls
  5. Pisani is a former collegian... Hockey East (Providence?)
  6. Well, that was entertaining, even though it was Carolina screwed the pooch big time. Why? Because I owe my brother $20. I said Canes in 5 and they BLEW IT! PARISE DANG IT!!!!
  7. And with this startlingly refreshing remark (by a Gopher fan no less!) I think the symbol of the red X should appear on this thread, because: There's nothing left to say
  8. Maybe Bishop will work out. I'd love another guy like Spiewak on our team. As for Hamilton, I was pretty darn impressed with him his freshman campaign and I didn't see him falling out like he did. That being said, I hope he isn't a head case because I don't think we need dead weight on this team. As for this year, he'll provide a great practice winger for the team (or is that not allowed?)
  9. Yeah, EJ did seem VERY confident in front of a camera. Too bad that, at most, he's a one year wonder with the Gophers because he would have Captain written all over him if he stayed. Quite possibly Captain at Sophomore, but... that's pure speculation.
  10. I think his role will be a lot like Miller's role. If he suits up, he'll be a fourth liner. If he doesn't, he'll do Patrick Miller's job for the team. I hope Hunter is a steal, but I really am not impressed with his numbers, especially considering that he didn't do anything in the USHL and scored only modestly in an offensive minded league. Remember, I think even Martens had better numbers.
  11. On HFBoards, Toews is usually described as a guy who isn't necessarily going to light it up like Ovechkin or Crosby, but, much more importantly, is rather a type of player who will lead by example. One poster said that whomever drafts Toews will watch him Captain a team to the Stanley Cup. If fans of other teams, even fans who don't want their team to draft Toews (The Captain reference came from a poster who thought it best if his team drafted Johnson or Staal or even Kessel) are saying this, it's gotta be a good choice. The worst case I've seen on that board listed Toews as "the safest pick of the first round" Just by reading what they say, it's almost like I'm reading Steve Yzerman's bio without knowing exactly how many points he's going to put up in the NHL.
  12. As did Woog, Masucko, Sonmor, and Nanne. Also, citing similarity in last names, Nathan Miller also voted for Miller.
  13. Oregon Sioux (spelled as such because I refuse to misspell either word) is what we call an act utilitarian in the ethical sense. Act Utilitarian ethicists believe that, since a minority of people believe that the majority is wrong, the majority should take some action akin to remedy. Funny thing, really, utilitarianism is RARELY seen nowadays among ethical circles because it's just downright assinine. To be true utilitarian either the minority must rule completely over the majority (a totalitarian arrangement) or the majority must rule over the minority (which, in some areas like religious influence, the US is heading towards). Both sides are extreme. Extremism is the best way to destroy everything Americans have worked hard for, fought for, and died for in the 230 years in which we've been a sovereign nation. It doesn't matter if you are extreme left or extreme right. ANY extreme is destructive, harmful, and truly hostile towards the American way of life. No, it shouldn't be made 'illegal' to have such beliefs, but I think it should be marginalized, or largely ignored.
  14. Two points: 1. This statement is true. If he did do that, there would be many who'd question why he singled out one group in need when there are so many in need that aren't of that group. 2. Let's not kid ourselves. NDSU would HARDLY be the only group of people who would point fingers and call names. We'd have to thow UMN and SCSU in there AT LEAST.
  15. So all I'd have to keep you away is: 1. Hold a book discussion on the "Da Vinci Code" 2. Play Van Halen's "Running with the Devil," Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Devil Gone down to Georgia," and Pink Floyd's "Run Like Hell" 3. Play the movie "Dogma"
  16. Can't argue with this. I mean, which other newspaper in the world would bury National and international news on a regular basis behind community news such as "Hanneford Woman buys new cow. Woman says 'WHOOPEE!'" Seriously, the Foolum is so assbackwards it's not even funny.
  17. PUlitzer Prize winning days are over. USA Today-esque days coming right up. Foolum buys Herald. Jeebus, ND news agencies have now gone completely to crap.
  18. What a disappointing third period of hockey. I expected so much more from Edmonton (though, not from Laraque. We got what he was basically good for there). All the cheapness going on. Depressing.
  19. Oh dear Parise, I'm a racist and a Nazi! I laughed HARD when I saw the Producers (the movie with Gene Wilder). My parents are Nazis because they saw the same movie AND saw Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the Producers on Broadway. Oh man..... Oh dear....
  20. No doubt about it. It looks like these Mankato boys aren't the only ones that are getting wrung through the wringer. There's a possibility that the Duke lacrosse "tragedy" was merely fabricated as well. The "best" part: If it is fabricated (both Duke and Mankato's cases) the affect on those kids will be the same, just sans the criminal side of it. Their reputations are ruined. They will always be "those guys who allegedly ..." What a nightmare. I don't even know if they can be reinstated after being dismissed from the team under the circumstances they were dismissed.
  21. PCM- In lieu of just flat out quoting your reply in this thread to buckysieve in which you cite the FBI investigation, I'd like to say thank you for that post. I don't feel like there's anything more to be said. PCM said it straight. End the fixation. If for nothing else, let the dead rest in peace.
  22. Naw. I'd rather log onto the message board and read 500 posts of: "You suck!" "No, you suck!" " No.... you SUCK!" "No, no, no, you SUCK" "Nah uh! You suck so bad NASA labelled your mouth a "possible black hole"!" "Your momma!" "Don't bring my momma into this, you idiot!" And so on and on and on.
  23. Ha. If only it were that simple. buckysieve is just arguing up a different branch of the same PC tree. "The guy did some stupid and offensive things so therefore we should change the name of the arena or just throw the $110 million back in his dead face!" Seriously, the guy may have been a racist, he may not have been a racist. The man was eccentric to say the least. HOWEVER, how does that diminish the fact that UND has a donor that has donated well over $110 million to the University? Character be damned, it was a very fine gesture by the man. It's like I said the first time I heard this argument: Don't like it? Ok, pony up the $110 million dollar tab yourself, give it to UND and maybe we'll change the name to whatever you want. If you don't have the money to match Ralph's donation, then I guess you'll just have to live with it. So, buckysieve, you can send your $110 million dollars to this website and then we'll talk. One penny less than $110 million dollars and you can forget it.
  24. :sigh: Can we keep the poster bashing to a minimum? Is it really THIS hard? Maybe Jim would be wiser just to close this board until October.....
