Don't know. Skille was supposed to be very good offensively as well coming in. He has been very good, but not as good as predicted. Turris will be good, but will he alone make the class great? Who knows. To be fair, though, I will say UW will finish in the top 10 for WCHA recruiting classes

Don't fall for it. Hextall simply is trying to start an Anti-Sioux version of the Blarney's joke so he can feel better about himself. Obviously Hextall took the Blarney's joke too seriously and now he's trying to get back at us. Oh well, ya know? The only difference is that we chose to make a joke out of the practices of our rival. Hextall chose to make a mockery out of one of our players. Too bad.

Apparently Chris is reporting that Cichy signed with the Boston Jr. Bruins of the EJHL. This is good news but puzzling news. Why would Cichy leave the NTDP? Why would he go to the EJHL, a league that is well behind the competitive levels of the USHL and BCHL and certainly less than the NTDP? As for Gregoire, I wonder if it was because UND didn't have an opening for him until at least 2008? And no offense to whomever it was that says DU has the best class, I think that remains to be seen. Certainly DU has one of the top 3 (UMN and UND are the other two, IMO), but in no way is this the best. Really, I think "best recruiting class" should be determined at least after their freshman season concludes.

Actually, since the NCAA has a hard time acknowledging losing teams (hence the March Madness field of 165 and the Bowl system), I say just let everyone make the NCAAs and give out participation ribbons to those who don't make the field of 16. That way, "everyone is a winner."

Thanks for the recap, PCM.

They were actually playing pretty well into the third (?) period I think. When Minnesota scored their 2nd goal it was pretty much over. Legace stood on his head until whatshisface scored. Bouchard? After that, the Blues caved. By the way, whose fault is it for the glaring ice? Or was my TV starting to die on me?

Actually, instead of taking out his aggression on defenseless girls, he now takes it out on underheight boys. or should that be ?

The save which made up for the absolutely abysmal job of holding the post that gave Zach his goal. I mean, it was a great goal, but it was done the same way UAA players beat Grieco in Alaska. If Lehtonin held the post, that would have gone off his shoulder pad. I'll take it anyways! Right now, Legace (whom I loved even as a former Red Wing) got owned by PM "overrated" Bouchard. Had to turn off the game because it was sad to see a team with no offense beating a team that, up until then was playing with solid defense. Legace stopped breakaways from Rolston and Gaborik too. Oh well. Wild can't lose them all.

No, they were supposed to come out to center ice, give everyone a big hug and help pin their "Participation Ribbon" on their jersies while saying "I'm proud of you for finishing second!" Seriously, that is the way the NCAA is going. Every team HAS to be made out to be a winner whether they blow out the competition or they go winless. So, yeah, UND was insensitive because they hurt the BC player's feelings. You saw them, PCM! They weren't crying because they lost a heartbreaker in what really was a very good game and a dynamite comeback by UND. They were crying because they had the audacity to put those hats and tshirts on while on the ice instead of once they got home! As to hockey1's question: Up until hockey season started, I didn't know what Buning even looked like! If Maturi was out there dancing like an idiot going "UND stinks!" and SIEVE-ing the UND goaltender after giving up a goal, I wouldn't really care. We let in a goal, hopefully it wasn't the game losing goal.

Feel the "love?" Really, cujo2, it wasn't a smart move to use me as a reference.

First off, if Pohlad owned the Wild.... NHL's viewership woes are numerous in nature and they can't be blamed solely on the state of the game. Some random ones I thought of are: 1. NHL siding more with money rather than reaching viewers in the TV agreement. 2. New rules only set up 5 years (at least) too late. Like them or hate them, hockey is now easier to watch than it was before. 3. Both sides forgot about the viewer and the fans in 2004 when they cancelled the season. The better answer would have been to raid lesser leagues and put SOME sort of product on the ice. 4. Expansion has something to do with it, but I think several of the expansion teams are doing well while traditional teams (even those that moved) are struggling. Bettman is part of the problem. I still think he should have resigned after the lockout along with Goodenow.

PCM- I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but when UND played Dartmouth, Dartmouth was ranked in the USCHO polls. -

Aside from the term "meaningless" and this veteran's inability to spell our name, the amusing thing that catches my eye is simply the fact that Bina's goal is not amusing to anyone other than Sioux fans and no one will mention it except Sioux fans and occurances like that are only worthy of mentioning by Sioux fans. Roy let two in a season? Did he really? How come I've never seen replays of them? If 187 foot goals were occurring at that pace, I doubt they'd make the top 10 on SPortscenter. SOme benign stuff but the typical gopher arrogance wins out in the end. HOWEVER, this post was made on GPL, a Gopher site, so I don't expect there to be any complimentary stuff on the Sioux. -

UW has a goaltender that can flat out play. Their defense is pretty good, though has spotty bad patches. However, UW has no offense to speak of and that's why I think UW is exactly as good as their record indicates. I mean, we didn't play stellar hockey vs. MSUM but we still took the first two from them using a rookie goaltender no less. The way it looks I'd take: MN/SCSU for 1st/2nd DU 3rd UND CC UW MTU UAA MSUM UMD ( - I think this is the end of Sandelin in Duluth )
-
I understand the reasoning for rooting for Minnesota, UMD, and MSUM but who do you root for with the UW/CC tilt? If CC is swept, it puts UW 1 point ahead of UND. If CC sweeps they are now 5 points ahead of the Sioux. A split would mean that UW would be tied with UND and CC would pull ahead by 3 points. Is my math wrong or is this really the scenario?

1. Don't bring up Dom. For goodness sakes we don't want certain jersey chasers coming up on these threads spewing that drivel... 2. Taunting seems to be a theme everywhere you go. Interestingly enough the one connection all around can be termed in one word and it isn't "rivalry." The word? Alcohol. How many sober fans have come up to you and started taunting you bad naturedly? Shoot, the only time I've ever been accosted by an opposing fan was walking out of the Ralph after a BSU game and what I assume to be a BSU fan (he had a jacket on so I don't know if he was wearing a BSU jersey or who he was affiliated with) came up to me and said "FSHEW SHUCK!" Or something similar to that. He stumbled a bit and headed off into the night. Seriously, I laughed so hard! he was SO DRUNK! In any case, I think that some of the off color behavior has to be placed on the ole' uninhibitor.

I think Bina, Watkins, Jones, and Finley should be the 2nd PK unit. Yeah, Bina on wing. Then have Bina cherry pick ONLY on the PK

Say what you will about Sioux fans and their aptness to point out the poorness of officiating but he was pointing out "interesting facts" by doing leg work. I don't know if I fully agree with him, but he isn't just "spouting off." You need to reread his posts because I don't recall him ever saying that he was employed by the U. He's making the argument that it seems that Campion simply gives the Gophers the benefit of the doubt. Don't expect you to agree. Do expect you to attack the issues not the poster. "Get a life" is a nice way of saying "Gosh, I don't have a response to his argument to disprove him so I'll attack his character." To make that short you are saying "You win." Attack the issues and prove him wrong if you can. Attack the poster and you admit defeat.

Like Minnesota and their penchent for running goaltenders, this next matchup we have to focus on just staying healthy. MSUM can steal a few points here and there (just ask UW) and plays a style of hockey that really doesn't bode well for players, especially players who are playing injured already.

I think Okposo was tired on Saturday night because he was tired of being one of the only Gophers to skate hard on Friday night. Seriously though, I thought Goligoski was a lot better than he looked. Wheeler was just as I thought he was... unremarkable. Stoa was a nice find by the Gophers. A lot of no-shows this weekend for the Gophers and not just their goaltending. Other than Goligoski, Peltier, and Johnson, who were the other three defensemen? Really, I don't know. 3rd and 4th lines for the Gophers were nonexistant. Everyone was talking about how UND has a lack of depth after the first line. Well, if that's the case, Minnesota is in just as deep of trouble in that regard.
-
I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the week off either after MSUM or between the DU and SCSU tilts. We're playing so well right now that I get worried about what week off might do to us.

I disagree. Saturday's first period was only partially dominant by UND. The first penalty (IIRC) after UND scored their 2nd goal basically until UND scored their fourth goal was a pretty dominant performance by the Gophers. And their powerplay was very good despite only converting on 3 of them. 5 on 5 though was domination on the part of the Sioux. And for the first time in a long time I can honestly say that our goaltender was better than yours (which, to be honest, is surprising because I though Frazee was going to be a TON better than he has been thus far).
